Re: Varina, Lich Queen - Esper Zombie Midrange
Yeah this is for sure playable. Not sure what it swaps out for yet myself, but it's definitely worth a try. Universal Automaton stays for me, just on account of being a combo piece with Liliana, Untouched by Death . Also, I totally did not click Mists of Lórien was a sorcery. Makes it a ton less des...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread
Does anyone have eyes on @DirkGently? The levels of pedantry in this conversation should have drawn him to the thread like a cartoon character to a pie on a window sill. Sorry, I've been busy inventing the COOLEST FICTIONAL MAGIC SYSTEM OF ALL TIME. I will not be taking questions at this time. I ha...

Re: Varina, Lich Queen - Esper Zombie Midrange
What do you guys think of Mists of Lórien? Might be a good alternative to Cyc rift overloaded. I've picked up copies while it's about, I think it's got some potential.

Re: Varina, Lich Queen - Esper Zombie Midrange
I think in that respect it's probably going to sit at about the same level as something like Necroduality or Mirrorweave . Good but not great. Funny, this is the same reason I quickly came off Roaming Throne . As a highly telegraphed 4-mana play, it was definitely high upside but was very bad when ...

Looks like a lot of new parents are fans of multiple combat steps. aurelia.png Just wait until next year when Moraug, Fury of Akoum is the hot new boy's name. Dirk looking at baby names huh? Very interesting..... We went pretty traditional with ours, Malcolm Alan Michael and Georgie Te Ahomarihi. B...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - The March Cycle
The Jeskai marches are all really good in my opinion. Swirling Mist is excellent utility, Otherworldly Light is good removal and Reckless Joy just lets you get a good dig on your topdeck at the cost of a card or two you didn't want to play anyway. They all have their limitations, but they all sort o...

Re: Varina, Lich Queen - Esper Zombie Midrange
Personally I don't think there's much scope for Saw in Half here. I certainly can't see any targets that would be good enough for me to include it in my build. Sure, Gary, but it's not exactly a guaranteed win. It could be, but it's not a sure thing and I think in that respect it's probably going to...

Re: Varina, Lich Queen - Esper Zombie Midrange
I really wish they would reprint Rot Hulk for what it does it shouldn't ve at that price. Mike is also very nice when you are on the offensive and want to push the last but if damage through. Getting that extra body back from a sacrifice to trigger Wayward Servant , Corpse Knight Plague Belcher and...

Re: Varina, Lich Queen - Esper Zombie Midrange
My Ad naus is rarely game winning, I use it to advance the game state and win 2 or 3 turns later ( that's why I never resolved it after turn 6 - wouldn't impact my meta were we normal end games aroundturn 9-10 ). I'm really considering adding Repository Skaab with Wake the Dead to get that combo ru...

Re: Varina, Lich Queen - Esper Zombie Midrange
Welcome, ApeFrogga! It's always nice to see a new face in the thread, and kudos for reading through so much of it, there's value there but it's definitely an undertaking. So of the choices you've suggested one I have tried myself, and that's Ad Naus. In terms of sheer draw value it's perfectly easy ...

Re: @mtgnexus Community Deck Project v10.0
I'll yea Endbringer. And I'll yea the Ring. I don't think we need to feel bad for using it either. Yes it's strong, but we need the raw draw. It works well with Clock and a couple other pieces and it'll keep us in the game. I know there's talk of it being on the ban radar, honestly I hope it stays.

Re: Bronzephoros - Well, that's on fire now
Oh yeah Kiki is for sure the better card from a game ending perspective. It'll go off or just give you enough value to get there. The saga is pretty amazing though. It does everything you want it to in the early game and really helps to accelerate and make your grip favorable. The backside is good, ...

Re: @mtgnexus Community Deck Project v10.0
I'm not sure about Sculpting Steel , I'm gonna think on it and come back to it. It might be a good add. My nomination is Hangarback Walker . It'll be gross with Deathmantle, Ozolith and possibly even Clock. It also just does what our commander wants to do with counters. There's no immediate combos t...

Re: @mtgnexus Community Deck Project v10.0
Yea Cicada, yea Orb. Clock of Omens will turn it off for us if needed. Yes it does have some notoriety, but I think these days there's enough rocks about for it to just let us halt momentum rather than lock the board. We don't wanna do that, it's a dick move.
Nay Smasher.

Re: Bronzephoros - Well, that's on fire now
Deck looks great! I pulled Bronze apart* a little while ago, but it's really nice to see the Timmy runs strong still. *That said I converted it into Delina. Its fairly similar, maybe a little more explosive, definitely more of a glass cannon. But it's just as fun as Purph was. Have you thought about...

Re: @mtgnexus Community Deck Project v10.0
I'm into both top and Liberator. Good cards are good. Yea. My nomination is Clock of Omens . It tends to really accelerate rocks pretty nicely. Not sure it's a lock here but it could do good work. It's kind of a pet card for me, I could see it doing neat things alongside retrofitter. Apologies for m...

Re: @mtgnexus Community Deck Project v10.0
I like Deathmantle if we're on Su-Chi / Cathodion (I think su-chi is out of budget right?) otherwise what else are we using it for? Giving colorless creatures intimidate and then adding a color is worse than, say, just giving them an Executioner's Hood . So I think this has to be a nay as presented...

Re: @mtgnexus Community Deck Project v10.0
It's weird, in an age of stats creep, for the cost Rise doesn't feel like it does enough. Four cards is fine and so is vindicate, but for the cost idk. That said we're here for the extra turn, so I'll yea it. It's not like we're playing fair to get that far in mana. I'm gonna nominate Nim Deathmantl...

Thank you for yout answer and congrats on the baby!!!. Would it still be Varina? Absolutel...

Can confirm, it is pure trash. But yeah, he's doing the Tower. Fingers crossed, I guess. From what I understand King is supportive of his efforts, so hopefully that bodes well.benjameenbear wrote: ↑5 months agoThe movie adaptation ranks as one of the worst ones I've EVER seen

Re: Varina, Lich Queen - Esper Zombie Midrange
Hello everyone new Varina player here. I am creating a Varina deck with cards that can reanimate from the graveyard like Poxwalkers , Prized Amalgam , Haakon, Stromgald Scourge and Razorlash Transmogrant . I have one question Why no one considers Scourge of Nel Toth ? Welcome! Personally I don't th...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread
Annihilation is definitely on my list to watch, too, as is The Descent. I've heard very good things. I saw Terrifier the other night. It was definitely an unrated cut, with a ton of violence omitted, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Not exactly cerebral, it's purely a slasher done very well on a low bu...

I'll get in on Lifeline, yea from me. I'm sure it'll have general value. Nay to Desecrate, I think it's probably just a tough angle to shoot some games.
If we're on Dementia, we probably want Ashnod's Altar too, so there's my nomination.

Re: @mtgnexus Community Deck Project v10.0
Yea Ugin the virgin. It's kind of a maybe and probably a meta pick, but I'm wondering if Wandering Archaic // Explore the Vastlands does anything for us. In a vacuum, no, but I wonder if it makes us less of a glass cannon to any sort of interaction. At least if someone tries to get at us we can hurt...
