Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Path of Ancestry
I have a 5 color tribal module deck where I can build Slivers, Atogs, Spirits, or Allies, and it's pretty good there. Multiple scry triggers in a game add up to some decent value on a land.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Astral Slide
Astral Slide and Astral Drift are some of my first tutor targets in my Zur the Enchanter cycling deck. They wreck face: can be used offensively or defensively and reward me for doing what the deck already wants to do (cycle cards).

Re: Where does it end?
Sounds like you have a lot of of niche cards. Maybe one way to cut down on organizing time is to at least keep niche cards together, and in their own box, so that if you want to build that deck, it's already partially built, and you don't need to sort through those cards when looking through your co...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Bribery
I still like Bribery , though I think it gets much worse as the competitive level of your opponents' deck increases. Any more, I'm finding a lot of finishers that I'd love to pluck out of my opponents' decks are noncreatures, so this card isn't being played by me any more. However, in more moderate ...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Noble Benefactor
You can't cast spells during the resolution of an ability, and that's the point at which they'd make decisions like that. Your options are "cast Opposition Agent before the ability resolves, everybody makes a choice knowing that it's out there", or "cast after the ability resolves, l...

Re: I'm in a rut and I haven't seen a new commander that really speaks to me in ages.
You should play a blue-based deck. If you want fun/different but still controlling, you can build mono blue sea monsters - tons of counterspells, tons of sea monsters, tons of card draw. You could try building something akin to the new foretell precon. I'm making a pretty nasty Vega, the Watcher dec...

Add Phyrexian Scriptures and you've got a decent start to a removal suite for this deck!

Re: Favorite Deaths
Cool topic! I was playing my janky Atogatog deck, and a few players had already been knocked out. I had Enchanted Evening in play, and I played my Calming Verse , thinking I'd nuke my opponent's board and swing in for lethal. Instead, he cast Aethersnatch targeting my Calming Verse, I nuked my own b...

Re: How do you utilize The Abyss to it's fullest potential?
I have a buddy that runs The Abyss in his Karador, Ghost Chieftain deck, and it's pretty mean. Similar to your issue with a post-Abyss board wipe, that can sometimes be a problem, but he generally has no problem playing at least 2 creatures in a turn, so it definitely hurts us more than him.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Survival of the Fittest
Survival of the Fittest lives up to its reputation. It enables many strategies, comes down early, and by the time it activates once, the damage is usually done.

Re: Arcades, the Strategist
First, I'd delete your other thread (the one you posted in the main forum, which as recently been moved to decklists). Next, I would not cut Sol Ring . Unless it's for purist reasons, it's amazing. You probably need a few of the same effect as your commander, like High Alert . Otherwise your opponen...

Re: Arcadis, the Stax Strategist
Chulane, Teller of Tales 1) No, I'd run Arcades, the Strategist as your commander. I know a lot of people enjoy playing "secret" commanders, but the problem is that, to find them, you generally have to get lucky or use tutors. I see Summoner's Pact and Eladamri's Call in your list, so I'l...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Explosive Vegetation
No one has mentioned that it's strictly worse than Circuitous Route , Migration Path , and Vastwood Surge yet, have they? Still an okay spell, but eventually it will become drowned by the sea of marginally-better options as power level creeps ever upward. Came here to say almost exactly this. It's ...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Zendikar Resurgent
Zendikar Resurgent : first two comments were negative towards it, and frankly I'm surprised. I can see this being terrible in very competitive metas, but in more battlecruiser style EDH, this thing is a complete bomb. You don't use it solely for the mana doubling - comparing to Vernal Bloom isn't r...

Re: Worst Mana Curve Ever
I'm curious if Vial Smasher the Fierce would be a reasonable add, seems like you're focusing on mana production in order to cast these bombs...and if you're casting them, your vial smasher will be putting a lot of damage to the dome!

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Blinkmoth Infusion
Blinkmoth Infusion, I'd love to dome someone for 14 using this in my Vial Smasher the Fierce/Thrasios, Triton Hero deck, but the card's effect isn't particularly useful in that deck and I never have enough artifacts to make this spell reasonable.

I'd buy one immediately. And if you have the money, I'd pay a bit extra for a nicer condition. Like wildfire393 said, check out facebook groups (like MTG Sick Deals, MTG Savage Deals, MTG High End), as typically the starting prices there are 10% below TCGlow. It's pretty easy to find a reputable sel...

Major overhaul! Sorry that I've been missing in action for a while, I had a baby and then COVID hit and I haven't kept up with updating my decks because I wasn't playing any games. However, I've kept up with acquisitions of cards, and I finally sat down and updated my list! In (22 cards): Undead Au...

Re: [SCD] Hullbreacher
It's annoying to the extent that the first victim of his flash "gotcha" moment is a feel-bad, but after that, my experience is that the table kills it and/or its owner, then moves on. Like Dunharrow said, Notion Thief has been around for quite a long time, albeit more color restricted, and...
