Re: Sliver Queen's Superfriends
My thoughts on some of those: [/quote]While I don't run Doubling Season specifically to avoid insta-ulting walkers, Assemble the Legion is probably more of a must-answer than Paradox Zone , even without Doubling. The latter can be neat with Mystic Reflection or Esix, Fractal Bloom , though, because ...

Hi and welcome!
(edit: I haven't updated my own thread's list in a while - also got distracted in the middle of a rebuild of the deck and need to finish that.)

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Magus of the Will
If you aren't recurring fast mana, undercosted tutors, or ridiculous combo pieces, it's a mediocre to bad way to recur cards from your graveyard. It's not something you play to reanimate a creature, or get a second use out of a kill spell or something. If you want to do those things, you want somet...

Re: Zada: Grinding up an Arcane Storm
I mean, Ardent Elementalist as a red Archaeomancer seems like a staple, doesn't it? Crazy with copy spells. I mean, I like that it's 4mv whereas most red ones are 5mv ( Anarchist ) or 6mv. But you still have to have mana to cast them. For most of the cantrips and stuff it's probably not going to be...

Re: September Ban List Update
This happened with plenty of other deck themes too. The only case I saw where Golos was being run despite being an inferior commander was in Shrines decks, where Sisay, Weatherlight Captain reigns supreme. However, she's already a very powerful commander who was tailor-made for Shrines, so Golos be...

One of my favorite lands in 3+ colors, though I've run it in decks with fewer colors, too, but for more niche purposes.

Re: September Ban List Update
I know of one non-dragon with Ur-Dragon at the helm, and it's materpillar's changeling combo on these forums. What I meant is people bring up things like Eminence or are just generically anti-5c - stuff like that - but dragon tribal hasn't come up as a problem. He's probably the least problematic E...

Re: September Ban List Update
In all the arguments against Ur-Dragon I've seen, dragon tribal was not one of the issues. What are people doing with the Ur-Dragon that isn't dragon tribal? Re: September Ban List Update
I'm actually surprised that so many known Commander personalities have come out against the ban, including the guys from the Command Zone and Commander's Quarters. This ban seems like a no-brainer slam dunk. The CZ's video was maddening. It comes from an option of thinking Golos was never problemat...

Re: A Deck without Tutors
This is why I want the best tutors banned. It is so much more fun to not be tutoring the same things over and over game after game. It depends entirely on how the tutors are being used. If you're using them to find the same finishers over and over, that definitely gets old fast. But for some decks ...

Re: A Deck without Tutors
Of course, live opponents, if such will ever happen again, might prove the notion naive and/or stupid... Not naive or stupid, just less linear... higher variance. The deck just won't be as consistent each time, and against decks that use tutors for consistency and linearity it might not perform qui...

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time
In the video from a couple months ago where Sefir (Nikos) played Zedruu, there were definitely donations made. Donating just a couple symmetrical or useless things (eg, Pentad Prism with no counters) starts adding up when you're drawing 3 cards and gaining 2 life before you main phase. That's reall...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread
Finished my first run of HL:Alyx last weekend. Very fun game, and fairly replayable. I started a very easy run with commentary on so I could listen to all that and work on a particular achievement (I'm also trying to do 100% of a resource you collect during the game), but I might also do a hard run ...

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time
/edit One thing that slightly disappoints me about Zedruu is that the donate ability feels very underutilized in these builds (seemed to be the case in the gameplay videos too). It makes Zedruu feel like an after thought and whether he's really a relevant commander, save for the occasional combo li...

lol - dang, @Sefir, what'd you threaten?

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time
I didn't understand what you're saying about Strionic Resonator , I'm also running MoM, am I doing something wrong? tstorm has a rule about minimum 4 cards to a combo, though Zedruu can be one of them. But MoM, Strionic Resonator, and Zedruu form a 3-card combo to copy Zedruu's card-draw trigger an...

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time
my meta is usually two or three-man games IMO that really does have a huge impact on what kinds of decks will work compared to 4-person pods at a more relaxed pace. In three-person, it can very quickly becomes two-person, so proactive development of your board in the early game becomes way more imp...

Re: 30+ Creature Type Changeling Tribal
I prefer to make my commanders to either be low power but reliable early game smoothers or fairly extraneous late-game threats I can use to close out the game if things stall out. I really really do not like them as the lynch pin of my mid-game. I prefer this approach, too, though I probably have a...

Re: Chainer — In the Darkness of Dreams
Set Review - Adventures in the Forgotten Realms Probably going to skip anything where the main feature of the card is venturing, as I saw the dungeons and none of them made me think "yeah, that's a Chainer thing". Asmodeus the Archfiend - I'd kindof rather use the bbb ability using Necrot...

Re: Chainer — In the Darkness of Dreams
Set Reviews -- Strixhaven, Commander 2021, and Modern Horizons 2 There are many, many ways to build Chainer, because at its heart his ability is opportunistic and works so well when done in response to things, even though it's not quite "swamp, go" style. As long as you can feed the mana ...
