Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread
One of my regrets about my young life is that I didn't go to see the concerts I wanted to see out of a combination of laziness, anxiety, and stinginess. Subsequently a large portion of the bands I loved from back when have broken up or literally died rendering it impossible to see them. I have work...

Re: @mtgnexus Community Deck Project v10.0
I'm still getting a feel for where we're going, but it's fleshing out I think. I'm gonna nominate Inspiring Statuary. Our commander gets a discount from it, any titans we run do too, not sure it's AMAZING here but it could help with bigger pieces landing in play ahead of curve.

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread
It's been a long long time since I engaged with libraries, and some of these advancements do sound amazing. For the longest time I worked for a major book retailer and it was logistically just a ton easier to buy what I wanted with discount. But it might be worth a look these days, sounds like there...

Re: @mtgnexus Community Deck Project v10.0
I imagine even as the resident stax player, that's probably not where this goes because of the social stigma around it. I don't know if you have had it, but I've been asked not to play a deck just because someone saw my Tabernacle while shuffling. I imagine that's a common response towards any kind...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread
I really want to see more of John Carpenter's films, and Event Horizon next. I've also heard really good things about X and Pearl respectively, as well as The Lighthouse, Green Room, the original of Suspiria, and Possession, but all of these I'm having trouble tracking them down through legal sourc...

Re: Black Friday Pauper Commander Tournament at LGS - What Should I Play?
Malcolm, Keen-Eyed Navigator is strong for sure. Doing a curiosity thing with him should work pretty great, all of the relevant pieces ( Curiosity , Ophidian Eye and Tandem Lookout ) are at the appropriate rarity level, and there's enough pingers like Reckless Fireweaver and Ingenious Artillerist a...

Happy birthday Hermes, hope you had a good one despite the absence. It's not the same as in person, I know, but so long as you have fond memories with you she's never really gone for good. That's how I've always seen it. ___ In other news I'm back on my horror film binge bs, and man the quality is v...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Doom Whisperer
It's pretty underrated, to be honest. The body is great for a great rate, and the life for card filter ability is way better than you think it'll be. Most of the great synergies have already been mentioned, but I'll flick a nod to Bolas's Citadel as a great way to abuse the almighty christ out of th...

Re: @mtgnexus Community Deck Project v10.0
I'd yea Ozo, but it's already over the line. Seems a linchpin card for the deck. Yay unique and powerful effect for the commander. How do we want to build overall are we doing stax things or what? As a genuine stax lover, I don't think this is the deck for it personally. Could be wrong, and I defini...

Re: @mtgnexus Community Deck Project v10.0
I see The Reality Chip as a hard control with stuff like Counterbalance . There's a classic Aetherflux win con there too, but that's not particularly interesting. Of these I'd say the gray one, but I'm not what sort of synergies I'd want for it. It's definitely a 7 at best, in the least sarcastic wa...

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v9.0
With only 35 lands and only 1 >= 2 mv rock in a deck that can't draw cards that well, the deck feels like it lives or dies by the mulligan. I get the same vibe, for sure. I think there's probably some min/maxing we could do to make things hum a bit more, but in general I like the direction it's gon...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread
It was definitely the worst book I was assigned, by far. There were plenty of others that I would not have read, given the choice, but this is the only one I had to read that I believe should not exist at all. Though I believe Rand's previous book, The Fountainhead, which was also assigned to some ...

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v9.0
Wait, let's talk about swift reconfig. I like some aura based removal but go over again how it's a buff for us? I'm not following. In terms of removal I like that one can't just equip a SoWaP on it to make it fall off and crew 5 is nigh impossible to get it moving. It's like buying a Pontiac Aztec ...

I'll also highly recommend Michael J. Sullivan's The Ryria Revelation. AMAZING dialogue and the humor is so on point. The writing is also excellent, as you can almost taste the world without getting swallowed up in the prose. Very efficient and excellent book. Seconding this recommendation. Great, ...

Sorry for the wait, team, weekends are full on. 2 weeks out from baby number 2 and he could be with us any moment. Anyway, let's get Absent over the line, the card is pretty underrated. If my nomination is still on the table (fine if it's not given my delay), I'd like to nominate Swift Reconfigurati...

Also another thing we haven't brought up regarding its use in this deck is that it can also be used to take out blockers post combat whose owners think they could just get free blocks with since we usually try to always attack anyway. I have multiple times in the past intentionally attacked into a ...

Let's nominate Lightning Bolt. It's pretty well versatile, kills most of what we'd need to kill.

Re: The product deluge vs Costs
It still irks me either way. And that's partly because it's not even remotely covert from WotC. They are absolutely force feeding us for profit, and whether you can stomach it or not it feels too much. I have a life and don't want to be constantly under deluge from new cards to parse and update. I'd...

Re: The Community Deck Build Project v9.0
Yea Truths, Bones, and ascendancy. I think the latter is going to surprise us. It's worded such that we get a goblin for every creature we swing with, twice with our commander out. Add this in with any boosts, like Fervent Charge and we could really put the hurt on. The sacrifice effect is neither h...
