Re: Varina, Lich Queen - Esper Zombie Midrange
I know I don't have great MTG "meta" mind when it comes to deck building, so I really appreciate threads like this where minds that can really wrap their heads around the deck building puzzle can share their thoughts. So, a couple cards that I'm just going to throw out there as possible id...

Re: Varina, Lich Queen - Esper Zombie Midrange
True. Why fit a square peg? I'm hoping that Innistrad produces some decent zombies later this year as there seems like a few slots that could be filled with more creatures for the deck. I bet Yawgmoth is pretty fun to play. He's in my Ayara deck and I've contemplated switching commanders, but I quit...

Re: Varina, Lich Queen - Esper Zombie Midrange
Phyrexian Altar + Gravecrawler too. I know you're not up on that infinite combo, but it's just one combo that you could unintentionally not look for yet in a pinch use.
Oops. I have that possibility in my Ayara deck to drain the table. Please disregard.

Re: Liesa, Shroud of Dusk - Orzhov Midrange
Well, I guess that's my problem in that I haven't fully committed to a primary strategy. I'm dabbling, but so far it's proven to be effective particularly against creature decks, which runs heavy in my meta. As for my wraths, I've tried to choose them for more flexibility with the possibility of kee...

Re: Liesa, Shroud of Dusk - Orzhov Midrange
I'd love for someone else to review my deck. More brains always help IMO: https://archidekt.com/decks/1005847#Lie ... Your_Wings
Maybe I'll try Axis of Mortality as I've been toying with life-swapping anyway. Sorin Markov also sounds great!! Hmmm....

Re: Liesa, Shroud of Dusk - Orzhov Midrange
Sorry I didn't reply sooner, but I'm still slowly crafting my Liesa deck. It's runs in a similar vein to yours, but it's a bit more restrained on the life switching/tweaking. Mine's probably a bit more Swiss army knife in that I still kept the Rule of La w and Archon of Emeria effect to slow folks d...

Yes, from a card draw perspective and stopping others from gaining life I agree. Too bad it doesn't work with Tainted Remedy or Axis.

Re: Liesa, Shroud of Dusk - Orzhov Midrange
It's the third ruling down on 9/29/17 for Axis of Mortality that's throwing me off: https://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=435154 "9/29/2017 If a player can't gain life, that player can't exchange life totals with a player with a higher life total. If a player can't l...

Re: Liesa, Shroud of Dusk - Orzhov Midrange
When I read the rules on life exchange effects, I'm not sure Axis of Mortality and Erebos work together. How I interpreted was that any opponents wouldn't be able to exchange life totals since they can't gain life. I would think the only way it would work is when you have less life than them, but ho...

Re: Liesa, Shroud of Dusk - Orzhov Midrange
Rog, I noticed you removed Font of Agonies from the deck. Was it too slow? Also, Erebos, God of the Dead is in opposition to Tainted Remedy. I know the likelihood of drawing them both most games is low, but I'm throwing that out there.

Re: Liesa, Shroud of Dusk - Orzhov Midrange
Questions for the general Liesa thread: Which have you had more success with Wound Reflection or Painful Quandary? I'd like to run one, but not both. Which one has been a quicker target for removal?

Re: Liesa, Shroud of Dusk - Orzhov Midrange
Your list is partway between mine and LaHistorica's. I like both of your lists and I may shift mine back a touch more your way. I've gone the route of 8 board wipes, adding some Liesa buff with Duelist's Heritage and Blackblade Reforged (I may add Light of Promise ), and big life gain effects in the...

Re: Liesa, Shroud of Dusk - Orzhov Midrange
Pay no attention to that symmetric/asymmetric board wipe question. I'm not sure what I was thinking yesterday. It really shouldn't matter considering you're running very creatures anyway and you have the four reanimation spells. Which four life exchange spells did you find to work the best for you? ...

Re: Liesa, Shroud of Dusk - Orzhov Midrange
Haman, you definitely must've been running a super low creature count them with all those mass removal spells. We're they most symmetric or did you have some asymmetric wraths in there?

Re: Liesa, Shroud of Dusk - Orzhov Midrange
Hey Haman, Could you post your decklist or a link to it? I'd love to get some more "voodoo" ideas for Liesa. I have only playtested it in 1 v 1 so far and that was myself vs myself; against a fast Ezuri, Renegade Leader elfball deck. So far, Liesa has won 2 games, lost one, and drew the fo...

Re: Liesa, Shroud of Dusk - Orzhov Midrange
I revamped the deck with several proxies toward something more of a high risk/high reward big mana variant. See for yourself: https://archidekt.com/decks/1005847#Liesa,_Wrap_Me_In_Your_Wings Now I just need to playtest it. I'm definitely going to try out Axis of Mortality . Thinking about adding Bea...

Thank you for responding! Yes, please keep this thread up. I appreciate the work you've put into it and I figured I'd chime in too so more folks would hopefully add to the thread as well. Yes, you nailed it as far as my theme being too loose and scattered. I really need to settle on one main theme a...

Re: Liesa, Shroud of Dusk - Orzhov Midrange
I've been following this thread since the beginning. I dig your idea of heavy beaters with lifelink and a very mild stax subtheme. My deck is unfortunately very convoluted and unfocused at the moment as I'm having a hard time deciding which way I want to take it: lifegain, big mana, hatebears & ...

Re: Three-color mana bases these days.
This topic is right at home in this thread, though it could very well carry its own. Personally, I try to find utility lands that actively support my game plan. For instance, Detection Tower and Arcane Lighthouse were tailor-made for Merieke Ri Berit. Sometimes, though, there aren't perfect fits li...

Re: Three-color mana bases these days.
Throwing in my two cents: Background Of the 10 EDH decks I run, seven are tri-colored and three mono-colored. Why no two-color decks? I'm not sure. That's just how it's played out so far. So, this is what I tend to run in my tri-colored decks: 3 Fetches (on-color); don't want to spend more money to ...

Re: Trigger Happy Heliod
Hey all. I've been playing Heliod a little bit now and tried the Walking Ballista combo and decided like you all that it was too easy and frankly boring, so I followed a similar track to you all; a lifegain trigger shell. However, I've been a bit scattered on how I want to build said shell. Do I go ...

since COVID-19 effectively ended playing paper Magic Check out spelltable dot com. It's at times janky but generally works quite well if you can get a group together. Thanks. Not sure why, but I forgot about Negate as an option even though I have it in a few other decks. I actually like that better than Stubborn Denial.
