Re: Greven, Predator Captain - Executing Subordinates for Power
Y'know, while these effects typically have very diminishing returns in the format, I bet you can justify a couple of fling effects to finish people off. That could lead to some crazy crazy swings... I do have Rite of Consumption and Essence Harvest and they are really key to surviving and dealing l...

Yeah that's a good idea. The deck has lots of haste, so you can catch people out if they only have limited mana untapped.3drinks wrote: ↑4 years agoSince you need to connect in relative peace, I reckon Defense Grid might ne in order?

Re: Greven, Predator Captain - Executing Subordinates for Power
I've had three games stop me dead with Maze of Ith . Getting the lifelink is super important and this card just shuts you off. Strip Mine and Wasteland as an additional answer besides Lightning Greaves and Swiftfire Boots . I've also found the Aetherflux Reservoir to be pretty mediocre, just not eno...

Re: Greven, Predator Captain - Executing Subordinates for Power
Alright got some games in with this guy and some immediate things to note. Attacking with him isn't the easiest thing to do due to being a magnet for removal, so I've taken out heaps of the additional combat cards. I found that often I need some way to push an attack through opponents who all have b...

Re: Volrath, the Shapestealer (Let's Brew!)
You want to use resiliency to keep him in play and so the keywords are Hexproof, Indestructible, perhaps Regeneration. Hexproof creatures that can get their own counters: Jade Guardian , Marchesa's Emissary , Lumberknot , Witchstalker Predator Ooze is Indestructible that can get's it's own counter. ...

Re: Yawgmoth, Thran Physician - The Power to Proliferate
All praise Yawgmoth and The Grand Evolution! Good to see your list here, darrenhabib. I agree that Bone Miser is exceptionally well-suited for your list. Do you think Thieving Amalgam makes the cut? It's basically a more expensive Ophiomancer but cheaper $$-wise. Hail the Dark Lord. Thieving Amalga...

Re: Yawgmoth, Thran Physician - The Power to Proliferate
Bone Miser The most exciting addition from Commander 2019 for this particular version of Yawgmoth is the Bone Miser . The ability to setup very quick ultimate by discarding land cards to Yawgmoth to get bb off the Bone Miser means that you can just keep doing it for as many land cards you have in h...

Re: Bruna, the Fading Light - Mono-W Moat Control
I get what you're saying there, but without any other treasure generators it's a bit limited in application. Gateway is a risky card, so I'm totally open to replacing it, I'm just,,,skeptical about Treasure Map . It's land ramp waaaay before Azor's Gateway which should tell you the biggest story fi...

A couple of recent(ish) additions seem to conflict with the Eye of Singularity . Bishop of Wings , Resplendent Angel , Parhelion II , Dawn of Hope . Do you find yourself nonboing yourself too much? One combo you can add to the primer that you have is using Emeria Shepherd + Solemn Simulacrum + Altar...

Re: K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth - Phyrexian Thug Life
You people... Crafting Combo lists has caused K'rrik to jump from $10 to $20! How reliable is it to legitimately combo out in the first 3 turns of a game with K'rrik? If you check out the second part of the thread, I've got a "First Turn Kill" deck list and I've been gold fishing some gam...

Re: Do you think C19 is above and beyond?
I think a few misconceptions about the annual commander sets need to happen to satisfy consumer expectations. Firstly that it's a product that will be used to meet the demands of in demand reprints. It's not like the "Masters" series where you can open boosters for lottery high value cards...

Re: Greven, Predator Captain - Executing Subordinates for Power
Wouldn't you want to sac creatures with exactly 2 toughness, so as to get Greven that magical 7 power for commander damage? I mean there are a lot of ways to lose life during the turn. For example the fetchlands will all do a point of damage, Ancient Tomb as well. But 7 damage every time over the c...

Greven, Predator Captain and Ilharg, the Raze-Boar attack timing
If I attack with Greven, Predator Captain and Ilharg, the Raze-Boar can I "stack" their abilities to allow me to put a creature into play with Ilharg, the Raze-Boar first to then sacrifice to Greven, Predator Captain ability?
My spidey senses says no, but want to make sure.

Re: Atla Palani, Nest Tender - Break an Egg
Alright thinking about the Mirror Entity line there are a number of lands as @NotMyOwlbear mentioned, so I think you could get away with just land buffs, which isn't so bad on the "cost" of running the combo. These are cards that I've marked as potentials. An advantage of running this type...

Re: Atla Palani, Nest Tender - Break an Egg
Pod is definitely a good line for this, but without black tutors it is better as a secondary line. Unlike with artifacts such as pod, Naya can easily tutor for creatures, therefore... For the primary line we are probably better off with Mirror Entity, along the lines of: 1. Buff Atla (due to layeri...

Re: Atla Palani, Nest Tender - Break an Egg
I think Birthing Pod needs to be considered here as well since you can use the same creatures to win while adding in some resiliency. Honestly, this seems like a not as good version of Tana & Tymna Blood Pod deck. But, with that being said, I like the idea a whole lot, so let's try and make it ...

My college friends and I used to get stoned and play competitive multiplayer Uno and reverse cards caused so much grief because inevitably someone would blank on turn order and screw it up without really noticing until much later. I had a Temur Sabertooth in my very first version of the deck and I just didn't need it. Having infinite in a land however is so much different as it doesn't really take up a slot.

Re: Zacama, Primal Calamity - Big Mana, Big Draw...Everybody Fear the Dinosaur
So, I've been messing around a lot with this deck, and for now I have this . Trying to maximize the options for accelerating mana and the ways of keeping my stuff from being countered. Since I'm building this IRL, I have adopted my usual "don't include cards you don't stand a realistic chance ...

Chainer, Nightmare Adept says "Discard a card: You may cast a creature card from your graveyard this turn. Activate this ability only once this turn." Does this actually give you the ability to cast it during an opponents turn, or do you still have to have some way to flash creatures like...

Atla Palani, Nest Tender - Break an Egg
Atla Palani, Nest Tender I decided to do some theory-crafting what a potential dedicated list might look like if you devoted yourself to a plan using Atla Palani, Nest Tender as a combo creature in an cEDH environment. The main reason is that I like to try and champion "off colors" in com...
