rattingrots (love it!), void_nothing hm: sagharri -- really wish it had been "artifact creature" instead of just artifact, since it's such a pain to have a bunch of barely relevant counters sitting on random artifacts. Alright, that's probably enough fairy tale/camelot references from me: ...

Yeah, I totally understand. I wasn't actually complaining, rather trying to express that you had seen something I had missed. Had I seen it originally, or had Henlock pointed it out, I wouldn't have deducted the points. So certainly not fair of me to withhold it just because it was a fellow judge wh...

Re: The MCC Discussion Thread

Oh man, bravelion found the line. It does technically place counters on itself, and therefore very narrowly meets the letter of the subchallenge, contrary to my previous judgement. Adding half a point back in my judgement.

Re: The MCC Discussion Thread

You're welcome to take it up with void_nothing if you'd like, and I will happily defer to their judgement, but I would argue that your card isn't placing counters on anything; rather, it's giving the card an ability so that it places counters on itself. Here's the relevant material: Subchallenge: &q...

Re: The DCC Discussion Thread

Yeah, I agree that it's a bit tricky within the rules. I could have made it simpler by making it an ETB trigger, but I didn't want the whole thing to be fizzled just by bouncing/killing the original target. Would be interested if anyone has a way to phrase it that doesn't run into this complication ...

Re: The DCC - September 17, 2019

rattingrots, krishnath I believe the card should work as written, since it specifically says "target" both times. Unless I'm mistaken, that means that if there's a tie, the owner of Demanding Pitmaster gets to choose from among the tied creatures. Of course, I have no judging experience, s...

You're definitely right that duststorms are more likely to happen in areas with little to no plant life to prevent erosion, which certainly includes deserts. And in fact, many things that are called "sandstorms" don't actually include sand (by the USDA definition), since those grains are t...

Re: Allia, the Grand Republic

Oh, whoops, I had no idea - that was way before my time. (Side note: kinda pissed that they *almost* got the plural of "numen" right, but still managed to mess it up.) As you said, I'm not sure if it fully rules it out as a mechanic name, but definitely another reason why it's suboptimal.

Sorry, what else is numen used for? I must have totally missed this? And there's a bit of debate on the subject, but it's generally believed that the "numina" were the local gods and spirits who presided over a place, especially in the parts of Roman religion that weren't dependent on the ...

Oh yeah, you're totally right about Ainok -- not sure how I managed to miss that. As for numen, I'm definitely open to other naming ideas.
