Re: professional wrestling

anyone watch Survivor Series last night? I found the card sorta lackluster, especially for a Big 4 event. However, I did really enjoy the send off for the Undertaker. It was really good and he's my favourite wrestler. so I'm sad to see him retire but he's had a great career

Re: [Official] State of Historic Thread

I saw a Grixis Bolas control and yeah, the mana is super awkward in that deck. I still gotta learn how to be super aggressive, I have little experience with aggro

I think I also saw jeskai control as well, but they didn't see much either game I beat them

Thanks for the help though

Re: [Official] State of Pioneer Thread (B&R 12/16/2019)

I loved Nyx-Fleece Ram when I played more UW control. It stone walls both mono black and mono red aggro. Forces mono black to use actual removal and often mono red would need to either attack into it hoping for the block then waste a burn spell on it

<t>I've basically just been playing modern past few months (although my area isn't really competitive now in paper for obvious reasons). <br/> <br/> I was doing well with Grixis Shadow but decided to try Rakdos Shadow, which I can't seem to figure out playing well. I don't know how much playing vs r...

Re: [Official] State of Historic Thread

played a bit of historic for the first time in a while today. I'm down to bronze due to not playing much but the format at least seems pretty healthy right now.

I'm probably gonna jam Gruul aggro for an event run by a podcast I listen to on the weekend

I'm really tempted to get a box of this set. At first I said I'd just buy a few things I wanted but I'm actually pretty interested in this set now. Although I might just save for the foil Vampiric Tutor I need

Re: Where do you stand on graveyard hate?

I think all of my decks except one are Bxx, so I run Bojuka Bog plus the on colour rav karoo lands and will not hesitate to bounce a bog. I try and fit Nihil Spellbomb in, with ways to recur it if possible. Scavenging Ooze is also super easy to fit in if possible.

Re: [Official] State of Pioneer Thread (B&R 12/16/2019)

I really like Kambal, Consul of Allocation against aggressive red decks, they often struggle to close games when their opponent has gained a bit of life. Some of the recent burn lists I've seen are kinda creature heavy/have a more even split of creatures and spells but I'd still run Kambal

Re: Wombats and Potato Chips

I've been fortunate to have been working the whole time (I work in the food industry, people need food) but a lot of the time early on it felt like I'd just go to work and play video games after. I don't play video games too often but had to make time go by without paper magic or being able to go t...

Re: MTG, the Corona-Virus Pandemic, and future events.

The only thing I have gotten out of this thread is that a lot of people are so friggin' self absorbed that they are willing to risk not just their lives, but the lives of others, because they are inconvenienced that they can't go an play M:TG with random strangers due to a global pandemic with a hi...

Re: MTG, the Corona-Virus Pandemic, and future events.

There will always be a paper scene for Magic IMO because of people who want the social aspect of the game, so paper sales will probably never tank. I think there's still room to run events online and offer credit in store. With many of the available platforms for pairings this is probably a great id...

Re: Standard Meta Discussion

with the nature of how standard is especially, there's no real point playing standard in paper right now with in store play suspended for who knows how long. I plan on putting more effort into standard. I have already played a bit of Rakdos midrange but the Gruul aggro seems cool a swell. As someone...

so the store I've been going to is doing bring your own commander decks and giving packs for the prerelease of commander legends instead of doing a draft for it. Now that it's been talked about a bit, drafting seems a bit bad during covid because of how many different times the cards will get touche...

bit of a random tangent. Does anyone else feel like this year has dragged on and they've kind of just lost track of what time of year it is? No, not really, but then again, I rarely leave my place of residence in the first place. I kinda miss going to my local LGS to pick up my MTG boosters and com...

Re: Standard Meta Discussion

a few weeks after the bannings, standard seems to be more open and diverse than it's been in a while. At least in my opinion. It seems like there's no common consensus and the best deck seems to be changing on a weekly basis

Re: MTG, the Corona-Virus Pandemic, and future events.

I can see more places taking temperatures of people entering going forward, it's something so easy to do and seems like a good indicator of symptoms. I've probably already said this, but we'll probably see more take home prereleases for a bit. I've gotten so used to not having many options for in st...

I think I have everything I need for Rakdos shadow so I'll probably just get that together to try But in regards to GDS, I got a 3-0 with it last night. Beat an Abzan scales deck, bogles and infect. Scales was a tight match, except in g3 where he kept a hand that didn't do much and was really slow. ...

Re: [Official] State of Pioneer Thread (B&R 12/16/2019)

I think that Lurrus of the Dream-Den and Yorion, Sky Nomad are still pretty reasonable to play as companions and not just in the 60 because of how good their effects actually are. Most of the others (except maybe Obosh, the Preypiercer ) seemed to be played more because they were a free card you alw...
