A rule of thumb I have is, if a card is in a deck, why is it there? Blood/Bond is so easy to do as well. Basically any lifegain deck featuring black (so, basically any lifegain deck) can run it.

They have other benefits, e.g. Mana Reflection. Plus, if your playgroup doesn't just ban MLD, and players actually know how to play it, having mana rocks available is always nice. Confession: I put Darksteel Ingot in all my decks.

I like this card, I do. It has the advantage of surprise! and can be Sunforged. It's not going to win you the game, but it is a good rattlesnake.
