Re: [C19] Commander '19 Preview Panels Thread
Anje might be confusing since we already have an Anya. (They're pronounced the same way.) If you can get enough spells with madness, he might be worth it, though. You're probably also playing things like Bog Witch and Notorious Assassin as additional discard outlets. (Kinda wish this deck had green....

And people generally don't run enough answers in favor of "look at this cool thing". Then the game turns into a race to draw your combo or whatever.

Re: how yr play group reacts to various counterspells
Really, no issues. As usual, it depends on how it's played. Spite plays are bad, but TBH counterspell decks aren't likely to be nearly the threat they are in multiplayer, without help. (Think Winter Orb.) And even that really should be easy for at least one player to remove.

Re: What Makes Bad Games?
I have a weird relationship with MLD. Mostly I don't mind it, but playing it when you're losing so you get the last laugh, yeah, don't do that. Very true. Spiteful moves are just lame. Like scooping to deny a trigger or just scooping to removal are just disappointing and pretty immature. It's a gam...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Fatal Frenzy
Like Berserk , it can be pretty fun with something like Cold-Eyed Selkie where the extra power benefits you directly. Or something like Kresh the Bloodbraided . But Berserk has more value with Prime Speaker Zegana (berserk creature out, then summon Zegana, for anyone who doesn't understand). As usua...

Re: Yuriko + Faeries
The thing is that as far as I can see Faerie tribal itself is pretty weak? Mistbind Clique , Scion of Oona , Spellstutter Sprite , Thieving Sprite , Faerie Harbinger are the only cards I could find really? There is no way you'd cast Arcane Adaptation / Xenograft to "Faerie" based on this ...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Soul Sculptor
This one is a beautiful underrated card for Saskia the Unyielding : Whenever a creature you control deals combat damage to a player, it deals that much damage to the chosen player. Now that's true for every attacking creature on every player's turn! It's even true when Saskia's being control...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Soul Sculptor
For all you Melvins who want an enchantment artifact land planeswalker creature. Back in Spikeland, this would be cool, if both versions of blink (the instant one and the "until end of turn/your next upkeep" one) didn't exist. I suppose if you have a creature with a high CMC you can use th...

Re: The Mono White Compendium
umm, black is the second best ramp color in EDH. Coffers baby :) not to mention swamp specific mana doublers (crypt ghast, etc.). Well, yeah, but those aren't 'really' ramp, those are burst mana. If we're talking mana doublers a la Ghast/Revenant, green is still easily top of the pile - Mana Reflec...

Re: The Mono White Compendium
As an aside, I honestly think that white gets a bad rap for being 'the worst at ramping'. Like, green is obviously #1, but black blue and red fall far behind comparably. In white it's something to consider, sure, and something to make sure you build around. But once you've taken it into account you...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Solitary Confinement
Just like Glacial Chasm , this is an obvious Sun Titan target. It's even better in multicolor decks, though. There are plenty of ways to draw extra cards every turn. This is why if you're not playing green or white, you need some sort of colorless generic permanent removal. If you are playing green ...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Live Fast
Idk. I'd definitely play it before Sign in Blood, even without energy support. I much prefer 2B vs BB . Although I guess for one more you can buy Ancient Craving so there's that. A lot of it depends on how much of your mana base potentially produces black mana, too. Usually two colored mana isn't t...

Re: The Mono White Compendium
Something to say about Emeria, the Sky Ruin : Don't think of it as a reanimator spell. You're going to need it and seven plains to use it. Same thing with Emeria Shepherd , which costs seven mana. Rather, they let you bring creatures, or in Shepherd's case, nonland permanents back for free. Also, yo...

Re: What Makes Bad Games?
I honestly don't think people "don't like Stax" per se, as much as they hate the more oppressive Stax builds. You know, the ones like Erayo, Soratami Ascendant and Arcane Laboratory , Mycosynth Lattice and Null Rod , Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir and Knowledge Pool . Getting hit with one of thes...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Arcbound Crusher
Arcbound cards can get huge, but (outside of things like Mycosynth Lattice ) I can't see this one being there. It is still, at its heart, a 1/1 for 4 with no innate anti-removal abilities until you start dropping more artifacts. While Panharmonicon and the doublers (plus Hardened Scales ) can help, ...

Re: What Makes Bad Games?
Mismatched power levels definitely. Like, if I'm playing Narset, I'm not going to put a bunch of extra turns and/or combat steps in a casual playgroup. And, so long as I don't do anything egregious, she's fine. (Isn't that how it always is with Magic cards?) In fact, in casual groups, I make a rule:...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Threads of Disloyalty
It seems a bit too limited in commander, though I could see it nabbing some niche creatures. Being recurrable with sun Titan might help it. It'll mostly hit utility creatures like mana dorks (but generally not really dangerous ones like Viridian Joiner ) and things like Mother of Runes , Waterfront...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Band Together
Maybe if you're mono-G or U/G, you would want that? Or if you have a lot of abilities that trigger on creatures dealing damage? If you're in black or white, you have a ton of better removal options than this. You can also do things like hit your own Stuffy Doll or dinos. And it scales, so it has so...

You just have to hit T for the tap symbol, by the way.
Yeah, that sounds a lot better. You can understand how I got shocked by what's close to a two-mana Avacyn. (Not quite the same, but close.)

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Astral Slide
Probably the card that taught us the value of blink. (Even if it was called Flicker back then.) Besides the obvious benefit with morph, you can also recycle (pardon the pun) entry triggers.

Re: [ELD] Chulane, Teller of Tales & Arcane Signet
Just, wow. So, basically, this is card draw, ramp, and being able to reuse entry triggers (and his own cast trigger) at once. It's like they looked at an EDH checklist and said "What can Bant do?"

Re: Maro: "Gerrard sucked." How would you reinvent these legends as Commanders?
Yeah, preventing all damage is a bit pushed. It really hurts green and red. My solution works better, in my opinion. Just grant indestructible for a turn.
