Re: Bruna, Light of Alabaster - look ma, no artifacts, instants, and sorceries! (or very few)

Besides On Thin Ice and Slumber, the main payoff for snow would be Scrying Sheets for incidental draw and Search for Glory for additional consistency. Right now, Search has 9 targets (including important pieces like Sram) and that doesn't account for the possibility of snow lands. There's also the r...

Re: Kethis, the Hidden Hand - Historic & Taxes

I used to run a similar Anafenza list in the "before times." I included cards like Farseek , Three Visits , and Nature's Lore over the guild signets, but given the historic theme here the rocks might make more sense. I feel like they would be better than something like Deathsprout , howeve...

Re: Velomachus Lorehold - Token Polymorph

I think which creatures you polymorph into might depend on how you envision yourself winning the game. If you favor a tokens-go-wide approach, Elesh Norn or something more inspired that pumps up your horde might be the best inclusion. Harmonious Archon turns pretty much everything into a 3/3 and mak...

Re: Ojutai, Control's Elder Dragon

Not going to lie, I kind of forgot I had this thread here. The deck has gone through a huge evolution since initially posting, so let's get right into the changes: CUTS: 1 Elspeth, Sun's Champion 1 Trinket Mage 1 Sun Titan 1 Torrential Gearhulk 1 Wrath of God 1 Hour of Revelation 1 Pact of Negation ...

Re: Killian, Ink Duelist - Spot Removal Tribal

I would probably consider including Celestial Mantle since it is cheaper to play in this deck and helps with your life concerns. I have a rather casual monoblack assassins and rogues deck that runs a decent amount of spot removal and tries to win with just poking people to death as well (see my Kik...

Re: Sygg, River Cutthroat - mostly mono black Aristocrats

You've inspired me to theorycraft some Dimir Aristocrats myself, haha. Figured I'd post some more musings of mine for your consideration. One thing that Dimir gives the Aristocrats strategy is creature theft as a way to fuel your gameplan. You already have Reins of Power , but Sower of Temptation gi...

Re: Sygg, River Cutthroat - mostly mono black Aristocrats

Kels, Fight Fixer could be another draw engine for this list. How married are you to keeping it mostly mono black? Nadir Kraken has nice synergy with Sygg here to give you more fodder that you can sac away. Other good blue creatures with death triggers include Reef Worm and Chasm Skulker . Oh, and ...

Re: Lurrus - Lifegain Matters

Would adding a minor blink package of things like Ephemerate and Restoration Angel be useful/relevant? It would allow for more triggers off your Soul Sisters and if you blink Lurrus it will allow you to recast something else from your graveyard. I'm not sure how you feel about infinite combos, but y...

Re: Brainstorming Halvar - what do?

If you go the ETB route, Martyr's Cause is a pretty nifty sac outlet that also allows for some nice political shenanigans.

Re: Ojutai, Control's Elder Dragon

Yeah, there's definitely a world where I could see myself leaning into that tempo murder plan. Even now my list has most of those fast mana rocks needed to pull it off, and I have definitely had games before where I go T1 Land, Ring, Crypt into T2 Ojutai which are just absolutely wild. But I get mor...

Re: Ojutai, Control's Elder Dragon

Humility is definitely a powerful effect that probably has a home here. But I think I might've traded my only copy a while ago in the before times :( I'll have to dive through my boxes again to confirm, but definitely something to make note of in the future for when I can get back to my local shops....

Re: Ojutai, Control's Elder Dragon

Considering how hard Ojutai digs on combat damage, try approach of the second sun as a back up wincon. I love me some azorius myself and it's one of the most solid game enders in that pairing. You can cast it (putting it 7 deep), attack to dig 3 (now 4 deep), next turn draw (now 3 deep), and then a...

Re: Harry Potter and the Sultai Slytherin [Voldemort Theme Deck]

As someone who also holds a deep love for the world and lore of Harry Potter, I love and appreciate the care and attention to detail you've put into this. I agree with TheAmericanSpirit in that Lazav, the Multifarious feels like a much better representation for Snape than Elder. Steve could be a goo...
