Re: Sythis Enchantress Storm

Let us know if you like this one more than Sram.

I've ended a lot of games from stacking Lifelink and Spirit Link on a huge Kor Spiritdancer or Sram + Aetherflux Reservoir.

I like the all-in nature of Sram, maybe this would be even better.

Re: Sheldon's throwaway comment about banning wheels

I don't think I ever came close to winning a game with my Nekusar deck when facing a deck with a counterspell. Drawing cards for opponents is typically not a good idea.

I haven't played mtg since the pandemic and Hullbreacher is something I'm anxious/not looking forward to playing against.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Dark Confidant

I like Bob but had to take him out of my land.dec

Somehow, I was flipping over Bringer of the Black Dawn far more often than I should have. The last straw was flipping Bringer and then Avenger of Zendikar on the following turn.

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

Imagine trying to be a rules lawyer without realizing that the actual rules prevent doing so in this circumstance. Lol. Imagine not reading the context before butting into a conversation, lol Excuse me, but imho, I wasn't butting into anything. Notice that I quote someone else and only the portion ...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

I don't have time to go look up the exact ruling (and I would need to double check to make sure I am remembering it correctly because it has been a while), but this wouldn't work within the game as a player does not need to pronounce the card name correctly or even say the anything. They only have ...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Humility

The art is awesome. The flavor text is awesome. The card is awesome.

You cannot make me feel bad for playing this. Sorry but not sorry.

You can make me the archenemy and attack down with your 1/1's. But honesty, I find that it normally helps out at least one other player in a 4 player game.

Re: Rolling dice to decide attacks -or- Triggering RxPhantom's self-destruct sequence

In my opinion, one way to do this is to debrief for a bit after each game. Arguing and disagreeing or persuading is a time suck during a game. There is too much bias, gamesmanship, bad threat assessment, some players might not even have enough play skill/experience to know better. But at least all p...

Re: Thassa's Oracle / Jace, Wielder of Mysteries

At least they finally figured out that printing Tainted Pact + Oracle was not a good idea for historic.

For a moment, those winning lists were looking like cEDH decklists. You had a do a double take.

Re: Rolling dice to decide attacks -or- Triggering RxPhantom's self-destruct sequence

That said, I think teaching people better threat assessment against their own biases is an uphill battle, and we'd be better served by establishing a norm that grudges are bad politics and furthermore, bad sportsmanship . The greatest strength of EDH is that it is a norm-based format, and I think t...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

I don't think that's going to be an issue, really. Just roll 5 dice at once, take 2 for each odd, draw 1 for each even or something like that. It shouldn't take more than a few seconds. More time will be lost in thinking what to do after drawing 2-3 new cards. There are way worse attack triggers in...

Re: I'm in a rut and I haven't seen a new commander that really speaks to me in ages.

Sometimes, when I'm looking for a deck to build, I look at a card or set of cards rather than the commander. For instance, I found a beta Red Ward in junk and asked what's the deck that can best use this crap? I bought the rest of the cycle (Blue/Black/Green Ward) and built a Sram deck. Turns out cr...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Grenzo, Havoc Raiser

Strong, but situational. Goad isn't that useful unless you give him some evasion, but if you do... The other ability is pure card advantage, though it is unreliable. As with all saboteurs, Fireshrieker is a must. Berserkers' Onslaught is a must! I love this guy. Goad is a really deceptively powerfu...

Re: [SCD] Hullbreacher

Is this any different than the majority of stax pieces? Null Rod for example? The biggest difference is that Hullbreacher is new, and people need to adapt to it being an instant speed option. This is so messed up. Something is wrong with the psychologies of Mtg players when it's allowable to spend ...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Chrome Mox

Interesting deck building is that there are some decks that will play Chrome Mox but not play Sol Ring. The color requirements are so high in my Sram deck that I cannot play Sol Ring but I will gladly play Chrome Mox.

Re: Ertai: an Aura of Control

Do you ever reach a board state or mana situation where Debtors' Knell becomes good?

I'm weary of dropping 7 cmc and waiting till the next upkeep. But seems like appropriate power level for what you want to do. I've only ever played it with Academy Rector.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Brainstorm

Even if preordain/ponder are more reliable/easier to use to better effect, the power ceiling on Brainstorm is massive.

Re: SCD: Golos, Tired-Ass Pilgrim

Many are going to roll their eyes on the "I guess we can all just chalk everything to simply a matter of taste" sentiment. Honestly, if you're against any banned list period, that's a different matter all together. That's not a worthwhile position to debate against/from when discussing a s...

Re: SCD: Golos, Tired-Ass Pilgrim

So you don't like people hating you because of your commander? This sounds familiar... The main difference is that I don't go on forums ranting about it, asking for Smokestack to be banned and being dismissive towards anyone who happens to enjoy that style of games. I don't want to be hated/targete...

This and Alhammarret's Archive have never stuck around very long after I cast them (in my cycling deck). Maybe it's because I cackle and get way too excited when I play them. Have you tried also tried Thought Reflection? They can't blow them all up? Lol. Seeing a 7cmc turn into a 4cmc card is bonke...

Re: SCD: Golos, Tired-Ass Pilgrim

When you build a deck with certain commanders, not including just one certain card or certain type of card makes a huge difference. Like if one intentional decides to cut Mind Over Matter from Arcanis the Omnipotent or Splinter Twin safety valve from your Izzet deck. For Golos, the power floor is so...
