Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - World Shaper
So lands are sacred, we shouldn't kill or harm lands in any way (unless we do it ourselves for gain…)…what do you use to defend against lands decks? I think GY hate helps. Is Confounding Conundrum a good enough card to throw into any deck? With World Shaper specifically, you can use graveyard hate....

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - World Shaper
World Shaper and Splendid Reclamation are pretty good with fetchlands…or is it just that everything is good with fetchlands? The latter. Well, yeah. Too many people complain about RL and duals when fetchlands are actually the costly lands you need to have. When everything works right with World Sha...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Bolas's Citadel
Helluva ash tray there, I tell ya what. I read this in Hank Hill's voice for some reason, and now I can't stop imagining the whole device being powered by propane and propane accessories lol. That card ain't right. Tinker-able Future Sight + Yawgmoth's Bargain = straight to Vintage. I'm not sure it...

Re: Top 5 Current Commander Concerns or have another freak out over Sheldon's thoughts
Getting reps in with the same deck versus the same opponents' decks is something that competitive players do to prepare for tournaments (ie play testing). It's not something that people who play casually are used to doing. It's engaging for a competitive player because it's growing their skill, but...

Re: Top 5 Current Commander Concerns or have another freak out over Sheldon's thoughts
People these days have such ridiculously short deck attention spans that it feels like everyone I play against is in the process of learning to play their deck all the time. Lots of indecision, don't remember what's in there, don't realize their path to victory, etc. Part of me wonders if a lot of ...

Re: Sythis Enchantress Storm
So I got a game in against Esika, God of the Tree // The Prismatic Bridge superfriends, sadly a 1v1 because out third friend was coming after she got off work. Anyway, I got a solid start and landed an early Suppression Field to really mess up their day. Things were going well until Narset, Parter ...

Re: Top 5 Current Commander Concerns or have another freak out over Sheldon's thoughts
This mentality is highly flawed. Effectively every single deck I own loses to Thassa's Oracle + Demonic Consultation with counterspell backup . I'm sure as hell not going to congratulate someone for beating me with a cEDH deck. If I sit down with my Chromium deck and you Ruination me. I'm just not ...

Re: Top 5 Current Commander Concerns or have another freak out over Sheldon's thoughts
There are three ravnica blocks. I've been hoping to play Ravnica only EDH since the latest one came out. And allow for players to use 3 of same shocks as long as they use 3 different arts for their shocks :) Of course, I've never been able to convince anyone to try it out. But if someone with clout ...

Starfield is a different game plan for sure. But animating a Parallax Wave is nuts.
Personally, it would be good enough to convince me to run Plea for Guidance just to see it more often.

Re: New card alert: Serra's Emissary
Seems like a waste to name anything other than creature. If you're naming instant, why not play something else that has shroud/indestructible that can protect itself? Protecting yourself from instants is also too low impact. Also, if you're going to get blown out by wog anyways, why not name creatur...

Re: Are time warps secretly traps?
1.) If anything, your extra turn is only 33% as effective because you have more opponents to fight. Lol what a hot take. All cards are 1/3 as good in commander  (I hope it's obvious why this logic makes zero sense) btw wtf does Seedtime do vs extra turns? Unless it's nexus and they're casting...

Re: Disrupt - Worth it?
At the end of the day, you just got to ask yourself if you want to play it. That's a good enough reason to play Disrupt to me. If I had that Pulp Fiction alter, I'd play it as often as possible. If you care more about winning as many games as possible, then no. It's not like your trying to qualify f...

Re: Are time warps secretly traps?
I should add that I believe time warps should be banned for poor interaction with the multiplayer format for a variety of reasons: * They are 300% as good as they are in single player, where you are essentially causing 3 people to skip turns relative to you * They are monopolizing from a game time ...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Sol Ring
This is going to be a very dumb discussion. The flagship card of EDH and emblematic of everything wrong with the banlist philosophy. The most controversial uncontroversial card in the format. A mono-green deck without Sol Ring or an Edric deck without Sol Ring can operate faster than decks with Sol...

Printing cards straight into eternal formats is the cash grab.BeneTleilax wrote: ↑2 years agoJust give us the regular cards. All this alt art and alt frames is just a cash grab and a gimmick.
Alternate Art and good-borders are not. They're what players actually want.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Rishadan Port
I play Rishadan Port in Brago.
The u/w manabase is strong enough to accommodate it + one of the strongest anti-Brago cards is Maze of Ith.
The art and flavor text are tops.
Getting to slow Cradle, Nykthos, and Coffers is a bonus.

Re: Sythis Enchantress Storm
My experience in a Tuvasa list with Destiny Spinner is all extremely positive. I know you prefer to be proactive, and prefer card quantity to quality, but the fact that it stops counterspells is only a small piece of what the card does. First, it's a 2-mana enchantment, so it's drawing you cards fo...

Re: Sythis Enchantress Storm
I play Grasp of Fate and Act of Authority on the regular. Brago amps them up for sure.
You don't have to worry about them upsetting the table since you could choose nothing for Grasp for some opponents and Act of Authority is a may.

Re: Doomskar Vs Wrath of God (Or a discussion of White Wraths)
I still play Wrath. If you asked me why, I'd say it's just for the art and the nostalgia. That's enough for me. It's ok to just play what you want. And for a flavor play, it's not like it's drastically underpowered Honestly, I kinda want to play Doomskar too. I play a traditional control u/w deck an...
