Re: Urza - painting and grinding his foes to death

Eldrazi do not completely invalidate Grindstone combos. You will mill the entire library before the shuffle effect resolves, which you can then respond to with instants and abilities (force an opponent to draw a card before shuffle resolves). It needs to be built around, but means that Grindstone i...

Re: Orzhov Vampires

Good decklist. It's resilient and has a suprising amount of Mid/Late game presence. I play a Jeskai control deck, and if I don't draw a Deafening Clarion at the right time I can die super fast before I've impacted the board at all.

How does it do against Mono-Red?

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread

I think Reddit may have some words with you on that goal. But you know I got your back. Of course. But does reddit really have credibility beyond a place for people to get trolled or experience dismissive comments? Sure, there's some generally useful suggestions and decent people, but for the most ...

Re: Artists for Fblthp memes

Really though, I'm looking for an artist who's willing to help illustrate homunculi for us. We absolutely need a copyright-free homunculus for our logo, for some of the sections we want to add, etc. Our revenue is currently $0, so hopefully we can find someone inexpensive who's willing to help. Sad...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread

Hi, I am Braden and I'm currently from Worcester, Mass. I am a predominately cEDH player, but I love to jam some casual games by borrowing random people's decks. I play cEDH at my LGS pretty regularly. I travel around a lot to events in the North East. I am planning on going to a couple more GPs th...

Re: Having Your Voice Heard

I think this conversation would be seen very differently if instead of thinking of cEDH as its own format, it is simply seen as Commander at a very high power level. I believe the vast majority of cEDH players play cEDH for the same reasons people play Commander - a casual, multiplayer game type. T...

Re: Having Your Voice Heard

Agreed. In the brief conversations I had with him on Discord, he understands and appreciates the core philosophy of Commander as a format but is definitely a dedicated cEDH player. I like the Laboratory Maniacs and The Spike Feeders as my cEDH content producers, so any interaction with them would be...

Re: Top-end replacement for Iona

I too support the inclusion of Razaketh, the Foulblooded . He's better than Hulk because he can tutor as you need when you need it. The Hulk is more explosive but does put more cards onto the battlefield typically. Based on how I imagine your list to be, I think the precision and on-demand tutoring ...

Re: Hazoret Polymorph

Would Lightning Greaves be worthwhile? Seeing that most of your Polymorph targets are indestructible, giving them shroud and haste seems like a guaranteed way to keep them on the board and wreck face. Also, I am just now realizing the implications of Indestructible with Shifting Shadow . Wow. Even m...

Re: Having Your Voice Heard

There is a fine line that you walk as the RC, even with the CAG to support you and your decision making. With the growing, and increasingly vocal, subset of Commander players that are of a cEDH mindset you will ALWAYS receive backlash, it seems, in regards to the decisions that you make and the mind...

My brother built a version of your Primer, Airi, and it was a super consistent machine of Naya stompy and, ironically, control. Props on a visually attractive Primer and for supporting your Gruul-ness.

Those are the best kind of stories, honestly, even if a Blue player inwardly cries crocodile tears. cryogen Welp, maybe the site being down unannounced will incentivize the MTGSal player base to abandon it wholesale. Once it's live again I'll be posting a marketing/sales-y article...

Re: Is 4 Horsemen socially acceptable in cEDH?

I think so. It's actually been proven to be deterministic once a certain threshold has been met, so you CAN legally shortcut. While I'm no Gitrog master, Leptys has a TappedOut Primer that explains it in detail and the specific steps needed to make it a deterministic combo. There are two fail points...

At least you don't have to worry about a turn 2 Stigma Lasher to the face. Still one of the greatest things I have ever witnessed in my EDH career. One of the most rage inducing of mine. 'Tis blasphemy. Who plays Stigma Lasher in EDH? There is therapy, comrade! @3drinks Of course you'd have a Red E...

I like that idea a lot more, personally. It gives you a totally different angle for the Painter Grindstone combo, and one that people may not expect.

Actually, the more I think about it, the more I think that this is probably the best strategy for Painter Grindstone. Good idea!

Re: Suggestion: Discuss combos, not decklists

It'd be really cool if this forum could take off as a new home for c/EDH discussion... I don't really like reddit or Discord, the official forums don't really like c/edh, and mtgthesource has been quiet for a long time. To make the conversation a little easier though, I think it'd be helpful if dis...

Because it has narrow applications and has been a dead card too many times in the past. And Memnarch doesn't particularly enjoy infinite colorless mana, seeing that he needs U in his activated ability to win the game.
