Re: Rule Change Ideas - SCG article

Sheldon An extremely well-written and highly respectful article that you've posted. I think the general feedback you'll get from it will be super positive, since the tone was respectful and thoughtful. Almost like you have a Master's in Literature or something lol. I'm think I can...

Re: Card list by Role/Function - What's your approach?

I too like to sort by function, since I think it's the most relevant way to see the deck's strategy at a quick glance instead of scrolling through card type. I usually break my decks down into the general effects that I most want to see. My Memnarch deck (link in sig) is a prime example of how I gen...

Re: Best shell for Taking Turns / Seasons Past?

The first question I'd ask is what does your playgroup/meta look like or are you going for a generalized build of Taking Turns? I know that God-Eternal Kefnet has a pretty strong shell for Taking Turns since it allows you to double up on Turns without actually spending the cardboard, so my first sug...

Good to see your Primer moving over here, Loki! Keep working on it and I'll be happy to champion it to the Primer Committee for Primer tag. Has Doomsday still been relevant for you? I think that Tainted Pact lines might be better for the deck, but I've never played Doomsday (despite its sweet new ar...

Re: Urza Help

Do you find yourself not needing spot removal a la Pongify too frequently? Being able to kill Gitrog for just a U is great, as well as other problem creatuers. The 3/3 isn't even relevant since Urza can block it like a champ. I personally have always been a fan of Vedalken Shackles , so I will sugge...

As a dragon suggestion, why not Scourge of Kher Ridges? Keeps the board clear of groundlings and, if desperate, can also clear the skies while also being a solid heavy hitter.

I love this idea. You seem pretty light on card advantage, actually. Do you generally find yourself not needing a new hand as frequently since you're probably stealing so much mana?

Re: Chulane, Teller of Tales
I think the CMC of the card is actually pretty fair, considering it's a draw-on-cast trigger. Aluren is the easiest way to break him in these colors and I think it opens up an interesting identity for Bant. It also helps to solidify certain ETB effects by giving yet another pseudo-blink effect that ...

I've been thoroughly unimpressed with Sai, Master Thopterist . Outside of the Future Sight + Top combo, I often find he just sits there and does nothing. I'd rather have pretty much anything else instead of him. Can you provide any recent examples of him being relevant outside of the combo? I find t...

Re: Necessary cards for Scion of the Ur-Dragon

I've become a HUGE fan of the Shuffle Hulk combo line. It's stupidly resilient, powerful, dodges most instant speed 'yard hate, and super cheap from a CMC standpoint. Have you considered a Flash Hulk style of build?

pufflex Let me know how I can help you with this Primer! It looks great and the banning of Paradox Engine makes me VERY sad for this deck. Re: Suggestion: Discuss combos, not decklists

Alright, I think what I will do is create a Stickied Combo directory that will link all of the primary cEDH combos that are used in the meta. This directory will then have separate links for each "Combo Primer" that will discuss the combo itself and the various pieces that make it work, ho...

I would say that should Flash be banned Storm variants are probably the next most represented archetype, usually including Dramatic Scepter combo lines. Re: Memnarch, Stealer of Games

Agreed. For Selvala particularly, there are enough singular untap effects in mono-Green a la Scryb Ranger and Revitalize that the loss of Engine shouldn't disrupt the combo lines too badly. It does weaken her somewhat though since the Engine was a consistent and repeatable way to untap Selvala.

Re: Urza - painting and grinding his foes to death

Eh, but those cards aren't particularly well-suited for a cEDH decklist and are very narrow in their application and most of them require additional mana to activate. Typically, in executing a combo line, any mana that you have is spent in protecting your combo line and you are generally super const...

It's still really strong. It's arguably the best deck still, even with the new M20 additions, but that remains to be seen. I've been off of Arena for a while so I haven't had a chance to play too much with the new cards yet.
