Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread

There's another possibility: it doesn't all get reset. This could be the Transformers: The Movie moment, where they actually kill off half the characters(so they can sell you new toys). This is basically the only option that would satisfy me. I could really vibe with a more multi-generational setti...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread

I swear, WOTC doesn't fully understand the phrase "murder your darlings". Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you said, but since " murder kill your darlings" is a philosophy I try to live by in my writing, I thought I'd step in to clarify - it doesn't refer to literally killing cha...

Is Legend banned? Can I safely talk about how Elon Musk is king of %$#% Mountain and should be publicly tarred and feathered? Because Elon Musk is the king of %$#% Mountain and should be publicly tarred and feathered. Ah, the prelude to what could be a delightfully inflammatory and mod'ded conversa...

Yeah, I feel the same way about my own Primers. But they're a labor of love @Dunadain, right?

Congrats on your well-written and exhaustive Primer! Well done and I hope to see many more posts to keep this updated!

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

Lol, sir, Wotc needs a tool to undo all the glistening oil in the multiverse in one fell swoop. So either, Chandra going nuclear, or Elspeth going nuclear with her newfound abilities or both, purging the multiverse of oil. Sorry America. Then Tyvar punches the now awkwardly weak Phyrexians in the f...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

I just read the flavor text on Tranquil Cove . Sounds like the whole pantheon could well be dripping in oil. Lots of interesting info in the lands' flavour texts. My favourite has to be Bloodfell Caves|MOM though. Is this whole thing just because Elesh Norn really wants to get high? Are you doing o...

Oh man, it's been a LONG time since I updated this Primer! Bad benjameenbear, bad... Ok, so first things first. I gotta do a bunch of set reviews. Then, I'll talk through the key Stax pieces I've decided to lean into for this list and the updates I made to the OP after testing out the tentative list...

Re: Yawgmoth, Father of Machines: Suicide (AKA Blood-Storm) Mono-Black Control

Another AWESOME Phyrexia set, another Set Review! LET'S GOOO. But first, I need to acknowledge the sheer amount of Vorthos-based cards in this set. You can easily make a flavorful, lower-power deck with the cards that have been spoiled. So, take my set review with this grain of salt in mind as to wh...

Re: Atraxa: Phyrexian Compleation

Ok, I've settled on a list that goldfishes pretty well. It's pretty much the above list with Emiel switched out for Venser, the Sojourner (since he's been Phyrexianized). He's another card type for Atraxa's trigger, has a blink ability to get the same functionality that Emiel had (albeit WAY less po...

Re: Atraxa: Phyrexian Compleation

RowanKeltizar Yeah, I agree about Emiel. But I'm struggling to find a replacement for it. Maybe Ghostly Flicker ? Gah, but I want something more repeatable if possible. I know Aminatou, the Fateshifter fills the role and adds diversity to my card type pool for Atraxa's ETB. Or maybe Venser, the Soj...

Re: Atraxa: Phyrexian Compleation

I'm considering trying to somehow squeeze Vishgraz, the Doomhive and Nissa, Ascended Animist into the deck to get more Phyrexia flavor. I'm thinking Koma and Craterhoof are the ones that should go. Does anyone else see any more swaps I can make for flavor?

Edit: Made the swaps.

Re: Atraxa: Phyrexian Compleation

Going to use the same atraxa or will you use the new? I feel that the new while REALLY great card advantage is not as good as 4CC atraxa. 7CC commanders tend not come out as often as you want even when playing green for ramp. I'll probably go with the new one Atraxa, Grand Unifier . Her ETB ability...

Re: Atraxa: Phyrexian Compleation

With the new Atraxa coming out, it's time I update this list to make a Phyrexia tribal decklist with ETB themes. This is going to be AMAZING.

A lot of the core elements of this current decklist will transition over, but it's going to be more ETB focused.

Re: Breya: My Mid-Range, High-Powered Memoir

I've decided to shrink my MTG collection drastically, as I no longer have as much time to dedicate to EDH. In accordance with this, I'll be closing this decklist down and no longer updating it. Hopefully it acts as inspiration for future Breya pilots!

I've decided to transition this deck over to the new Atraxa and will no longer be maintaining this thread! It will serve as inspiration for the new Atraxa list I'm working on, so the work isn't totally wasted.

Re: Yawgmoth, Father of Machines: Suicide (AKA Blood-Storm) Mono-Black Control

I think I've forgotten to do a formal set review for Dominaria United as well as The Brothers' War. So, here we go! Dominaria United The Cruelty of Gix - an interesting Saga card centered around the OG Invader of Dominaria. It's ok, but a little expensive for it's combined effects. I could definitel...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

Primeval Herald LOL. They're trying really hard to make Primeval Titan come back to EDH. I think they did a decent job of it... if you consider getting 1-2 free basics per turn as fair. The fact that it IS restricted to basics is what makes this card balanced IMO and likely to actually be successfu...

Re: Kalamax, Breaking the Space-Time Continuum with LIGHTNING

Taking a look at the list, there's a few card slots that need to be cleaned up. The core of the list is ok, but there's a few very cool cards that have been printed that are worth noting in the OP. I also think I might dedicate time to making this list a Primer. Kalamax is one of my absolute favorit...

Re: Yawgmoth, Father of Machines: Suicide (AKA Blood-Storm) Mono-Black Control

After looking at my curve, I think it's time for Phyrexian Gargantua to go. This makes me sad, since it's one of the original cards that made me want to play mono-Black and explore the vorthos of who Yawgmoth was as a character. But, it's unwieldy, bumps the curve up just a bit too high, and will pr...

Re: Yawgmoth, Father of Machines: Suicide (AKA Blood-Storm) Mono-Black Control

Well, I love how much Phyrexia stuff is coming out right now. It's a lot to consume, I guess, but I'll take it! The newest card to catch my attention, of course, is Yawgmoth's right-hand, the First of the Compleated : Gix, Yawgmoth Praetor . It's a powerful card in its own right in the sheer amount ...

Just to confirm, Gix's 2nd ability gets around timing restrictions, correct? Combined with the powerful card advantage his static ability offers, and I see a very strong ...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

Gix, Yawgmoth Praetor is the new Edric, Spymaster of Trest . The life loss is more of a deal than you think because one thing if you've ever played Edric, Spymaster of Trest before is that opponents never attack you for obvious reasons. So life totals do matter when opponents are attacking each oth...
