Re: Vial Smasher and Kraum + Obosh - That's Odd

As far as Sunbird's Invocation, Treasure Cruise, Dig Through Time, and Shark Typhoon, the deck does have Obosh as companion meaning these cards, although fantastic in the deck otherwise, cannot be run. Wow, I can't do basic math I guess. I was just looking at the colorless component. Hadn't had eno...

Re: Vial Smasher and Kraum + Obosh - That's Odd

This is definitely a very cool deck idea! Something I would enjoy putting together for sure. Galvanoth could be a home for him especially if you have any topdeck manipulation going on. I think finding more ways to cast that first big spell for free would be nice. Having trouble finding much though. ...

Re: I need to stop over analyzing my picks and...just, like, grab some cards and go.

I tend to bring my recent cuts, sleeved, with my decks so I can make quick swaps between games. Alternatively, a guy that I play with has 3 or 4 decks that he has 20 to 40 flex slots in, and shuffles in a random grab from 100+ cards. It's how he powers down his decks, and it keeps the decks fresh. ...

Re: [SCD] Dovescape

Alright, I can read a room... and the room says no to Dovescape lol. I concede that it definitely gives the creature decks a leg up which is likely not what I want.

Angelic Renewal is worthwhile I think. Only works once but that might be all I need.

[SCD] Dovescape

Ok, so here's a fun card. Dovescape . I wanna hear your experiences or thoughts on this card in commander. I remember way back when durdling around with this card in random 60 card decks I made but those were primarily creature based decks. I'm strongly considering it in my nutso Bruna, Light of Ala...

Re: Bruna, Light of Alabaster - ENCHANTMENTS ONLY - stax beatdown!

Thanks void_nothing ! So I gave some serious thought to Dovescape because not only does it shut down 90% of interaction, Bruna actually bypassess needing to cast any of my beatstick auras. This is a card similar to say Winter Orb in practice in that I drop it right when I have the setup to win. Only...

Re: Bruna, Light of Alabaster - ENCHANTMENTS ONLY - stax beatdown!

Before I say anything else, let me say that 1. I do NOT own this deck and have never played it. 100% theorycrafted decklist. 2. I am still pretty adamant about my self imposed restriction on committing 100% to enchantments. I think it is the only way I can bring a prison stax deck to my local table....

Re: Bruna, Light of Alabaster - ENCHANTMENTS ONLY - stax beatdown!

I've updated the OP and the decklist to be a bit more up to date with my current thought process. For a while I abandoned the idea, but I think this could actually be a viable although extremely janky deck to build. Worth a try anyway. Biggest concern right now is a blowout via Farewell Merciless Ev...

Re: Your thoughts on decklist and resource discussion?

I guess even though it may not be the case, taking the time to write up a primer or keep a decklist updated sometimes feels like teaching to an empty classroom. But I think those primers probably get a lot of outside traffic just from people browsing the net for decklists. Whenever I start a new dec...

Re: Nalia de'Arnise - Partycrasher

I was thinking to build Nalia as one of my budget starter decks. Yeah, I know it's a precon, but she looks like such a fun commander. And there are SO MANY creatures to choose from. If I build it I will definitely be referencing this list. I guess the biggest challenge I saw was her vulnerability to...

Re: Hanna, Ship's Navigator - Prison Break

Eventually, as playgroups evolve and people start getting more tuned with their creations, ramp and combo can start to run a bit wild. It is my personal opinion that it is important that at least the threat of a heavier stax/prison style deck is needed to prey upon these sorts of things once they r...

Re: Your thoughts on decklist and resource discussion?

Oh hey, I remember this. I think the problem with this when it tuckered out was the same four people providing the same advice and a lot of people not engaging unless they were getting the attention. Or users getting defensive over the same advice being dished out to cut their pet cards. In short, ...

Re: Your thoughts on decklist and resource discussion?

Might be nice to have a monthly deck list analysis thread stickied in the main forum maybe? Like this deck will be up for a month and featured for analysis. I know on salvation we ran a decklist of the week in the general forum, which was a really good way to drum up meaningful discussion. We tried...

Re: Your thoughts on decklist and resource discussion?

All of this makes a lot of sense, so thanks. It's good to know a decklist is still appreciated and viewed even if it never sees any comments.

Where I would appreciate more discussion is my budget decklists since I know for sure, there are obscure but good cards I'm missing out on.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Force of Vigor

Force of Vigor is phenomenal, especially in a 2 color or mono green deck where you can be pretty sure you'll have something to exile to it. I'd be a little more reluctant to include it in a 3+color deck unless I was already heavy on green spells. It's great because you are likely wanting to tap out...

No love for Scapeshift ? There are few feelings more satisfying than scapeshifting into a win with Valakut. But 3 colors may make it tough to support the critical mountain mass, even with Dryad of the Thirst Trap Thanks for the suggestion. It's definitely worthy of being in the maybeboard. Not just...

Your thoughts on decklist and resource discussion?

So, I've been on these forums for quite some time, and before that MTGsalvation. I have a lot of decks posted. Many of those are linked in my sig. More often than not, when I bump my threads with new thoughts or changes, I feel like I'm just talking to a blank wall despite my threads having quite a ...

Re: [SCD] Rod of Absorption

Waiting for value isn't great I agree. But I would disagree with there being no immediate payoff. There's the unseen advantage of forcing your opponents to possibly misplay their cards. Would you cast a Demonic Tutor with this on the table? I would certainly think twice. Not to mention, when this po...

Ok, no problem. Yeah, I don't know what it is. Thought maybe my choice of commanders or archetypes/cards wasn't interesting to people but I have a fair number of different styles of decks posted. I was sure I would get some interest in the budget decks. I know people get tired of seeing all the stap...

IDK, this is one of those cards I'm just going to have to buy and play with to make an actual assessment. Naturally it's going to be better against some decks than others. My playgroup tends to have a ton of good instants and sorceries played. Spot removal, board wipes, tutors, land ramp. All the th...

[SCD] Rod of Absorption

I never get any discussion on my decklist threads ( ), so I'm just going to post this here. Rod of Absorption is a card I completely missed when this set was released. I just stumbled upon it on Scryfall while looking for something else. Anyone have success with this? I'm thinking of throwing ...

Re: Atraxa, Praetors' Voice - STAX BEATDOWN - Artifacts Only

The following are some changes I feel pretty confident about. I'm constantly moving cards in and out of the deck to see what happens. There are a lot of cards I really wanted to make work, but in actuality were hurting me more than helping, or just weren't doing what I wanted them to do, or there ar...
