Re: The Great Gadgets of EDH - MTG Arts, Crafts, and Accessories

I guess I'm not really into doing my own arts and crafts but I do like to buy handmade or collector type accessories. I have a pretty extensive collection of playmats. I got a bunch of signed Seb Mckinnon mats during the last kickstarter and gave 4 away to my friends for christmas. Here's one of the...

Re: Wow @MTGSally really did go off a cliff since our move here.

I honestly wish Nexus were more active, specifically more engaged discussions and more frequent posts. I feel like all my decks are pretty stagnant due to lack of useful criticism. Not sure how much traffic really my Primer gets, I don't keep track of the views, hopefully some people find use of it ...

Re: What basic lands do you run?

Oh, well that shows you how much I'm NOT following recent events. I just assumed she got compleated like everyone else or allied with phyrexians. In that case, I guess skys the limit when it comes to basics. I guess I would go with something non-landscape like or maybe a bit whimsical/nightmareish. ...

Re: Viridian Revel

I like it. I've gotten a lot of mileage out of Compost and Insight in the decks that I run those in. Enough to leave them in. Viridian Revel I personally don't own, but I've been meaning to pick up a copy. For 3 cmc, I think it's not bad at all. I mean, it's got to be better than Harmonize right?

Re: What basic lands do you run?

What basic land art to chose? (for Braids, Arisen Nightmare ) I would suggest a phyrexian themed swamp? These are affordable and I think they look fantastic: https://www.tcgplayer.com/product/475527/magic-phyrexia-all-will-be-one-swamp-269-full-art?xid=pid02b3f62-3442-408d-b841-699ff9857cab&Lan...

Re: Niv-Mizzet, Parun - "Controlled Burn" - No creatures!

benjameenbear yeah, im none too pleased with the direction of MTGs story or the product itself. And the story actually appears be fading away into endless universes beyond products. I for one really enjoyed MTGs original worlds and characters as I'm sure most older commander folks do. I'm definitel...

Re: Niv-Mizzet, Parun - "Controlled Burn" - No creatures!

So I'm going to start sifting through all the cards from the last year or so to see if I can find anything to try out. This is a pretty monumental task however as there seems to be a veritable landslide of cardboard coming from wizards these days... Flame of Anor - I think this is pretty decent real...

Re: Indominus Rex

I'll be honest, I'm an edhRec guy... not that I copy and paste decks, but I do look there to get tips on cards I may have missed since there are so many new cards these days. What about: Shadow of the Grave - this stands in for all similar cards like Oversold Cemetery that return creatures back to h...

Re: Niv-Mizzet, Parun - "Controlled Burn" - No creatures!

I realized its actually been an entire year since I updated the primer. This year I became a father! My daughter is 10months now and is already trying to chew on my Force of Will and Mana Drain. I see a control player in the making! She knocked the deck to the ground today and the first card she pic...

Re: Mono color basic land choice

The only time I can think of full arts causing confusing in my playgroup is with this particular one: https://product-images.tcgplayer.com/fit-in/394x394/257681.jpg Just because it's predominately red in color. But even so, the mana symbol is very prominent. The black and white basics, yeah I could ...

Re: Mono color basic land choice

I'm working on foiling my Adeline, Resplendent Cathar , and have been considering what would look best with regards to basic lands, I.e., all different ones, several different ones, only old border/new border or mixed, only full art/mixed, etc. I've found it more of a struggle for a mono color deck...

Re: Gishath, Sun's Avatar - I'M YOUR DADDY

Bunch of new cards incorporated from recent sets plus some philosophy changes. If someone noticed something good that I missed, please give a shout out! Most importantly, we got some great new functional dinos. I'm still struggling to find room for dinosaurs in the deck however. I'd like to get to a...

Re: Zacama, Primal Calamity - Naya "Hide Tide" Storm

Swapped out the basics for Snow-Covered and added Winter's Night. This is exactly the kind of niche card that I like to see get used. Perfect for the deck I think! I have a Gishath deck that has some overlap but just trying to do the normal aggro game. As such I'm usually looking to cast Gishath by...

SCD - Nahiri's Resolve

So Nahiri's Resolve is a card I don't see anyone talking about. Am I dumb or this card much better than people think? It's a Conjurer's Closet that affects any number of your creatures AND/OR artifacts for the same CMC. I know Boros colors arent traditional blink colors but there have got to be a fe...

Re: Nahiri, Forged in Fury - Aggressive Equipments

I do think you are missing a couple pieces of stellar equipment. The Reaver Cleaver is just insane imo. I didn't realize it said "that many" treasure tokens, so it combos very well with doublestrike or extra attacks. Shadowspear is very aggressively costed for what it does. Skullclamp has ...

Re: Niv-Mizzet, Parun - "Controlled Burn" - No creatures!

I think we finally have a card worth discussing. (Let me know if I've missed something... not as active with mtg lately.) https://product-images.tcgplayer.com/fit-in/394x394/499312.jpg In my opinion this is very strong, especially for a deck that lacks traditional green land ramp options. I can drop...

Re: Atraxa, Praetors' Voice - STAX BEATDOWN - Artifacts Only

So, I haven't had a ton of opportunity to test the new stuff stuff yet, but so far so good. I would like to add another candidate to the list however. Ozolith, the Shattered Spire is certainly an autoinclude. I believe we can put 4 counters on atraxa the turn she enters which is really not bad for t...

MCD - artifact based removal

Looking for some decent artifact based disruption and removal spells. Single target removal along lines of Dispeller's Capsule , Executioner's Capsule , and Haywire Mite Card's like Steel Hellkite or Cityscape Leveler I think are pretty solid since they benefit from creature synergies and should see...

Re: Atraxa: Phyrexian Compleation

And good Lord, ANOTHER set preview?! I mean, it's about Phyrexia, so I don't mind as much, but... it's exhausting. And potentially anxiety-inducing. If they kill off Phyrexia, I will personally lead the revolt against WOTC and storm their doors myself. Yeah, things are nuts right now in the story. ...

Re: Gishath, Sun's Avatar - I'M YOUR DADDY

Thanks for the reply! All of the dinos you mentioned have been in the deck at one point or another but they all got cut because they just weren't doing enough for me. Generally, I find myself needing more draw, more tutors, more ramp, more protection, and more spot removal. So all of these dinos got...

Re: Soul of Windgrace (formerly Prossh, Henzie) - lands, etbs

Alright, so I'm switching things up yet again with my Jund deck. The deck has suffered from a lack of focus for far too long. I think Henzie is still a great commander, but the deck started to feel too similar to my Kaalia, Zenith Seeker list. I struggled to win games honestly and have a consistent ...

Re: Gishath, Sun's Avatar - I'M YOUR DADDY

I am really happy with where this deck is overall, minus the fact we don't have that many high tier dinos to choose from. I win a lot of games with this deck. Good mana generation, good card advantage, andI can push tons of damage through with protection. Congregation at Dawn ==> Shadow in the Warp ...

Emiel the Blessed seems like maybe a flavor fail lol (i know why it's here though) . What about Jin-Gitaxias, Progress Tyrant seems generally powerful for this deck, albeit high cmc.

Re: Atraxa, Praetors' Voice - STAX BEATDOWN - Artifacts Only

Unctus Grand Metatect Is another potential auto include. 2/4 body is a decent early wall. This is a surprisingly affordable rare that I think has a ton of power and utility in one card. Perhaps a compartive card would be Bident of Thassa . But, it felt a bit too narrow to be worth 4cmc, but still w...
