Re: Yuriko + Faeries
An interesting build. I also like the idea of not overloading your mana costs with big spells, and instead going for more triggers, rather than bigger ones. Afterall, the biggest gain is the pure card advantage. Even so, you don't want to go too wide. Having too many of the 1 drops just over draws y...

Re: Rule Change Ideas - SCG article
Why? Is 6 mana beseech the queen a problem? Is metamorph a problem? In any case, I did not mention phyrexian mana or 2-brid, but I think both warrant a discussion. Those cards were costed to be fair in any deck, and while phyrexian mana is less of a downside in EDH I think there are few cards that ...

Re: What Makes Bad Games?
I play Commander weekly, on Wednesdays. Lets estimate that's an average of 4 games a week. There are 52 weeks in a year. That's 200ish games a year. My join date on Salvation is 2011, so that's at least 8 years, probably a bit longer. I guess my 1600+ games compared to your 10,000 is why I haven't l...

Re: What Makes Bad Games?
I don't know... last night I got a start with a turn 1 sol ring, treasure map, turn two Sculpting Steel to copy sol ring, into worn powerstone... and I ended up losing.
Turns out getting hit in the face 3 times by a 7 power Commander is still bad for your health.

Re: [Announcement] Ban List Update
That's true... but that doesn't count towards the decks I've run... also, that was already after Prophet was banned. And I've gotten to run Recurring Nightmare in your cube too, so not the best parallel... =P I like how I am now essentially de-facto banned from playing a banned card that you've allo...

Cynical/Snark could also be Red. Which can align well with the chaotic fisticuffs that occur periodically.
Esper is easier to explain though. Probably the best fit.

Re: The Mono White Compendium
People's opinions on Commanders will vary greatly. I'd add though that Heliod ends up playing like a combo deck. Typically my games would end with Ring of Three Wishes (or other enchantment/land tutors) pulling up Skybind and Serra's Sanctum , making a bajillion clerics, and blinking out all defende...

So I built a $50 elfball Riku of Two Reflections deck back in the day. Yeah... it included a little-know $1 card called Craterhoof Behemoth . My how times have changed... --- At first I thought this thread was going to be about how budget considerations ease over time as you add and grow your collec...

It's definitely already used more than it ever was on Sally. On Sally, it was really only ever used for mega-resource threads.
I think it's something that will come online more over time, and I do like that it's not overly spammed. If it gets used too much, I feel it loses its meaning.

3) Any game where one player is drawing more cards than the rest of the table combined and also has more mana than the rest of the table combined. This usually means someone's deck popped off crazy hard pre-turn 5 and the rest of the table is in full :sleepy: mode. This also means that this person'...

Re: Card list by Role/Function - What's your approach?
If a card performs multiple important roles, it goes under the "Value" column for me. Otherwise, even if it has a secondary benefit, it goes under the primary role it fills. TIL that all my decklists should be a single column titled "Value." =P --- It's interesting, When I build...

Re: [Announcement] Ban List Update
So far, the worst I've heard theorized for Painter's Servant has been the Grindstone combo, and I've seen a bunch of people joke that they're looking forward to jamming that in decks... to which I have to say that Helm of Obedience with Leyline of the Void or Rest in Peace has been in the format for...

Orim, Samite Master 1ww Legendary creature - Human Cleric Whenever damage would be dealt to you or a permanent you control, prevent 1 of that damage and you gain 1 life. 1/4 I like this. Simple, clean, elegant, and yet with a surprising amount of depth. Would be absolutely nuts as a card in a pesti...

Re: What Makes Bad Games?
My bad experiences have mostly been covered by others, but I'll reiterate them: 1) Uneven playing field . When one deck clearly gets to dominant lead, and is a vastly different powerlevel than the rest. This doesn't mean that every game that ends up in Archenemy is bad - sometimes one deck will natu...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
I'm a little bit disappointed. I have to admit that I dislike hyper-specific Generals, which are clear linear builds - but I also dislike those that are straight up too vague. This one just leans very hard into the bant goodstuff color pie. I could easily just rebuild my old Jenara deck, slot this i...

Re: Commander 2019 Speculation
Story wise, Temur Frontier is the closest to Ugin ands spirits, perhaps the Morph deck would have the Dragonclaw twins as their commander? Younger sister Baishya turns cards into face-down morphs, allow you to exile/play them at instant speed, while Naiva is the warrior/hunter who gets pumped by # ...

Re: Commander 2019 Speculation
Do you think that there's a possibility for adding twists in those mechanics? For example adding the ability to copy nonland permants in the populate deck in order to add more colors and make it more interesting? Doubtful as populate is a static keyword, as are madness and flashback. Morphs have ex...
