Re: CRAB BATTLE, AAAAUGH

Nice deck idea, I like it. Any thoughts on using Fractured Sanity ? Huh. How did I not know this card existed? That said...not sure what I could replace with it. Maybe 2 copies to replace the 2 Startled Awake? To synergize with the humble crab, may I suggest Terramorphic Expanse or Evolving Wilds Y...

CRAB BATTLE, AAAAUGH

Here we go, again. I decided a while back, "You know what would be cool? A Casual-60 mill deck." There are a lot of powerful, low-cost mill spells. I packed it with them, as well as 4x Consuming Aberration and 4x Nemesis of Reason (because duh), and realized, "Oops, this deck isn't fa...

Re: Skelly: The Beginning

Update: Ayara really isn't what the deck wanted. She's been disappointing and underwhelming every time I've drawn her. She and Mind Swords have been pulled from the list. That said... Death Tyrant IMMEDIATELY grabbed my attention for a slot in this deck. I was having difficulty finding an opportune ...

Paradigm shift and Oracle have turned Merfolk into a plan A and Plan A deck too. Oracle has reinvigorated Doomsday. This would have been huge if it were not for Oko, Uro, Veil, Breach, Companions etc.
Good think Oko and Breach are banned, and Companions are now nerfed, eh? :^)

Re: State of Legacy Thread

have reanimator shells been shifting away from the typical fatty packages then? Kaldra Compleat seems like a great equipment for d and t With regards to Reanimator, Grief is basically just another Unmask , but in creature form, so it can be reanimated. With regards to the other cards Ulka mentioned...

Re: Skelly: The Beginning

So uh. Skelly can contend with Miracles. There were some misplays on both sides - I could have ended the game like, 3 turns sooner, and he missed a Counterbalance trigger that would have resulted in a successful counter, but damn. Death Baron, Desecrated Tomb, and Tormod did work. Didn't end up draw...

I have purchased 2 Tormods and 2 Ayaras for the deck. Will let you know how it shapes up when I get to test it in who knows how many months.

Re: [Placeholder] Primer - Death & Taxes

Is Skyclave a better choice than Jailer, what with Marit Lage still being a big threat in the format? Additionally, isn't Jailer a better choice to side in against Sneak & Show for when they side in the dude that makes a token copy of a creature it exiles? Mystic something?

Re: Skelly: The Beginning

at first glance at the list, I thought it was a zombie deck. Then saw 8 skeletons. Death Baron is a perfect fit for this deck, as it pumps both the skeletons and zombies. Played Quest for the Gravelord during zen standard, so I know this thing is strong. Deck theme seems to be so sacrifice recurrin...

Re: Skelly: The Beginning

Ooh, I really like the suggestion of Ayara. Thanks, both of you! Cabal Therapist seems just a little too oppressive for my playgroups, since I know my friends' decks a little too well, at this point, but if that weren't the case, I would absolutely run it, possibly over Mind Swords. Ayara and Tormod...

Skelly: The Beginning

I started playing Magic around the time the original Ravnica block was new. My interest in Magic over the years has ebbed and waned, depending on my priorities at different points in my life, but when I moved to my current locale about 5 years ago, I regained a passion for the game. TCGs have always...

Re: agh, everything in the deck costs 3

Have you considered making swaps in your deck to accommodate a reasonable early game? You may not get to run everything you want, but what's the harm in adding something like Dread Wanderer to flatten out your curve a little bit?

Re: Oracle's Shift

hmph.. all this oracle combo talk hyped me up. Would have been better if paradigm shift is legal in modern, so I could build a deck for it. Or maybe it's too strong for modern? But modern does not have Lotus Petal, Chrome Mox, Ancient Tomb, and City of Traitors.. so it would be slower there. A thou...

1. We played a few rounds, and it did come out a handful of times.
2. They did not cast it, so I can not assess.

Re: Oracle's Shift

It was a typical Burn win. My only counterplay to Burn is getting out Thought Lash before they can finish me off, or winning faster, which doesn't always happen.

Re: Oracle's Shift

Indeed.

Just remembered, I've played this against...uhhh...Maverick! That's the one. Also Sneak & Show, Burn, and an Experimental Frenzy brew. Burn kicked my dick in, but the rest of the match-ups were fairly favorable for me.

Re: Oracle's Shift

3x Flusterstorm
2x Force of Negation
3x Surgical Extraction
3x Pithing Needle
1x Jace, the Mind Sculptor
3x Back to Basics

Haven't actually tried the side out but that seems like a reasonable start?

Re: Oracle's Shift

turn 4 feels like an acceptable speed. Does this deck have god draws that combo faster than turn 4? I'm simply curious. talking about speed of combo deck, it has a legacy "feel" to it. I miss this kind of talk. It has been years ago. ____________ on duals, not really the original duals.. ...

Re: Oracle's Shift

sorry for late reply. Interesting. I see now... the oracle itself is a win con. Back up win cons in Jace and Lab man provide redundancy. :) not really much to suggest, as you have things in order already. can I know the usual goldfish turn of this strategy? Uhh, cantrip a couple of times, maybe dro...
