Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread

Yea, I bought all of the decks every year up through the year they did experience counters. After that one I stopped buying all of the decks and looking more to see if there were decks I felt justified purchasing instead of assuming I wanted them all. For the most part, I really don't need the repri...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread

Did anyone see the flavor text on Aeon Engine ? With reversing time the obvious is referring to a time paradox but I can't help but immediately jump to Paradox Engine which was just recently banned. It feels like a very sly double meaning which I find amusing. I have to give a tip of the hat for tha...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

My Squee, the Immortal deck just got a giant fist bump from Skyfire Pheonix. Its a bit unfortunate in that now he can go infinite with the sac for red mana effects even though there aren't that many of them.

Re: Bruna, the Fading Light - Mono-W Moat Control

Sounds like it's been solid! I assume you swapped it out for Baneslayer Angel as per your previous post? I may have to give it a whirl, I guess I'd probably swap Parhelion out for it. Haven't had a lot of gameplay recently, although there have been at least a couple of memorable gamestates that hav...

Re: Trostani - Wait, that shouldn't be a token.

A nice source of inspiration for tricks to integrate into that new populate dude. Is Minion Reflector blech? My goal for the most part was to include cards that weren't bad on their own. I considered but excluded Minion Reflector from the standpoint that it seemed like a worse card than other simil...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread

The Jeskai deck is slowly growing on me. I might buy that deck so far but I will be passing on Populate and Morph. There are a few of the Jeskai legends I find a bit interesting and the 2 mana red goblin is already pre order for like $12 when I checked. The cost for me to buy singles doesn't make a ...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread

Windgrace was bad because he had really bad reprints in the deck and very few cards that had synergy with windgrace himself. On top of that, building a good landfall deck in optimal means in Jund is like.... a $3,000 endevor which is far from what we need to be making entry level products for. Lands...

Re: Pramikon, Wall of Empire (Let's Brew!)

I have always found planeswalkers and extra turns to be very strong in emperor. Assuming you want to focus on emperor that would probably be my suggestion. I can't remember if it was standard for the whole team to share the same turn or not but extra turns kind of made it crazy.

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread

I will say though, from the standpoint of making an entry level deck with playable cards I do feel like they are doing a good job. The Jeskai deck looks like a great entry for most any player looking to build most any commander in the colors. It has several cards I would suggest and getting started ...

Trostani - Populating Life

So, I have been eyeing Trostani for years as they keep making lifegain support as well as ways to make things into tokens. I looked into it yet again as I noticed the theme for this year to be Populate and I have been sort of kicking the tires of this list for a while waiting to see what the new dec...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

I think it's largely a desire to cast a wide net. If the whole deck is pure morph synergy, and you aren't interested in morph, you're not buying. (It's worth pointing out that Rayami does have stealthy morph synergy. You can play a big morph with sweet keywords like belltoll dragon and never plan t...

Re: Bruna, the Fading Light - Mono-W Moat Control

I thought I would mention that I got some testing in with Sephara, Sky's Blade the other day. It was really quite good. I rezed it three times in that game. It was nice in that it was higher threat and it was protecting my other flyers. I had someone wrath and it kept Bruna in play (until the second...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread

This website is a wonderful place. Last night, someone in person poo-pooed the precons when asked his opinion. I think I turned his opinion around quickly enough, but as far as why he thought that, I'm seeing elsewhere on the internet people complaining again that the pre-cons are unplayable and wo...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

So, there are a few generic cards that seem good but almost none of them have anything to do with any of the themes this year. It kind of makes me sad that the themes themselves and the legends associated with them feel like they are a little weak. Its not that strange for there to be a few good st...

Re: Official Commander RC C19 Preview

Interesting design, thanks for sharing here as well. I really sort of wish it gave +1/+1 before taking in the number of times your commander has been cast as a 4 mana anthem for +1/+1 isn't that great. Sure it scales but I would argue that commander can take larger anthems for the mana.

Re: Hybrid mana

I am aware that there is like a 99% chance that it will never change. I am aware how the RC is against changing this. I am not asking for reanimator to have access to all colors it was just an off the top of my head suggestion that could maybe allow hybrid mana in. Honestly, I think most of the rule...

Re: Hybrid mana

This just sounds like rules lawyer shenanigans to try and get 'better' cards in decks. I get what people are saying about Artifacts, but they are also often over-costed for exactly that reason. For me, I actually played kitchen magic with the hybrid cards before I had ever heard about commander. I ...

Re: Hybrid mana

So where do you draw a line when it comes to running an off color card that fits the theme of the deck and is being played as intended? Since we aren't debating the mechanics of the rules and can agree that Sundering Growth is always a green and white card, we are left with debating the semantics o...

Re: Hybrid mana

Oh, yea Rhys would be really sweet in white decks given the Ranger of Eos type effects they have.

Shadow of Doubt is also a really sweet card I would love to have more access to. I wish I could run it in Toshiro Umezawa.

Re: Hybrid mana

Rule 4 was much more confusing of a rule than hybrid mana, created legitimate feel-bad moments like with Celestial Dawn . Removing it has made gameplay much more intuitive because while it hasn't affected deck building, it now let's you actually cast cards you steal and use the activated abilities....

Re: Hybrid mana

It's not a matter of a hyperbolic statement like "no one would play X". What matters is crafting a rule which does not create loopholes or an opening for even more arguments. Changing the existing rule to include hybrid mana means you have to address Beseech the Queen, and by extension an...

Re: Hybrid mana

I absolutely want to keep the hybrid mana rules the way that they are. I know that running Privileged Position in my Avacyn deck would be a thing. Any deck ever would want Beseech the Queen . I play EDH for the overall flavor of the format. I'm not intending to play singleton Legacy/Vintage with a ...

Re: [C19] Full deck lists (morph up)

I am not very impressed with the deck as a whole but the landbase is surprisingly decent. The problem with a bunch of morph cards is that they really aren't all that useful in commander outside of the one commander that they support. So from that perspective most of these cards are kind of narrow in...

Would something like Jodah's Avenger work for giving Rayami double strike?
I don't believe that works as the card doesn't actually normally have that effect. It might be worth asking in the rulings section though but I don't think that works.
