Re: Wyleth vs Kellan

Kellan, the Fae-Blooded // Birthright Boon can get auras which could be auras so I feel like I can see situations where it can play a less straightforward voltron aggro plan. I also think that you can probably come up with a slightly more optimal curve of using Kellan to reliably get a specific buf...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread

Man, these mtg releases are getting out of hand It is amusing to see Lorcana in a Ixalon box. If you aren't being sarcastic with that, that is Disney's new TCG not an actual magic product. Its a bit unknown as to how well Disney is doing with it just because there is a lot of pull back right now on...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread

If I ever catch Cowboy Bebop I just get sucked right in for a few hours of time. Big surprise right :P The company I work for just announced that they will be permanently closing their doors at the end of January. I saw this coming about over a month ago, and have been diligently applying to positio...

Re: Wow @MTGSally really did go off a cliff since our move here.

I will say though it sucks that we had to make that move. I still sometimes do magic rules searches that bring me to salvation and I think we had built up a lot of search results on salvation back in the day. It sucks that everything did what it did but I do think Feyd gives us FAR far better suppor...

Re: Indominus Rex

Think Rowan was referring to an opposing Ensnaring Bridge preventing you from attacking. Yea I am aware, I was more pointing out that my meta is very strong against passive defenses via heavy spot interaction and card draw. I am not saying its something I would never encounter but the meta I am in ...

Re: Indominus Rex

I'll be honest, I'm an edhRec guy... not that I copy and paste decks, but I do look there to get tips on cards I may have missed since there are so many new cards these days. What about: Shadow of the Grave - this stands in for all similar cards like Oversold Cemetery that return creatures back to ...

Re: Indominus Rex

Since you discard a lot of creatures for Commander's ability then why not use cheap reanimation to bring them back? Even Living Death could be an option if Rex gets killed somehow. You could use better (more-costed) creatures as discard fodder then. The problem is that most of the cards I am discar...

Re: Indominus Rex

OOk, big change but it comes after getting to play two games. Both games went really well but it should be said that I did the games with something like an 80% accurate OG list. I made a few adjustments to it based on what I had on hand as some things didn't show or I forgot to order. In those chang...

Re: Did Doctor Who flop?

I have seen a bunch of doctor decks running about and honestly, I don't know what is in this set for legends outside of the doctors and companions so I have no clue if I have seen one of the other legends. I have played with a number of the singles especially Everybody Lives! and a few of the non le...

Re: Viridian Revel

I realized that Eye of Singularity has some anti treasure / clue token kind of vibes to it too on top of its historic token hate gameplan. Just thought I would mention it as its kind of in line with some of this other hate and a card I haven't seen mentioned yet.

Re: Should Multiplayer EDH Have Less Than 40 Starting Life?

From a casual perspective, the rules should not change. From a competitive one, ohhhhh god please change it. This game is regulated on a casual axis though but if you were looking at it from a competitive setting the life total should probably be somewhere between 20 and 30. Unfortunately the compet...

Re: Chromium, The Mutable

I could also see possibly trying Excise the Imperfect . It depends a lot in what you end up removing with it as to the drawback of its use as well as a question of how much you value the difference between destroy and exile. I saw Patriar's Seal the other day and thought to myself how it might be co...

Re: SCD: Mercadia’s Downfall

Its encouraging you to go wide because its a mass anthem buff but if you are actually going wide then I prefer Tears of Rage or Shared Animosity if you are rocking a single tribe. I guess it might have some world where you use it as a single creature buff but when things like Embercleave exist I wou...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread

If you look at strict play rates and EDH rec numbers though those cards do have low numbers but that is likely mostly due to costs. I have encountered a lot of players who can't afford them though that think they should be auto staples assuming they had copies which is why I felt the need to comment...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread

Mana Crypt is the most underplayed card in the format. It's a better Sol Ring, but it sees less play than Sol Ring. Actually, now that I think about it, ABU duals are probably the most underplayed. Edit: Honorary mention goes to snow-covered basics, most decks should technically be splitting their ...

Indominus Rex and Clones

I am curious if the discard effect of Indominus Rex, Alpha is the same timing of traditional clones like Sakashima of a Thousand Faces . If you were to clone him would you get the discard effect or is there an issue that they are both enters do x effects causing some sort of conflict? Sorry that I h...

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. I assume that I probably don't know a lot of how I need to pivot this one just because its going to be quite a bit differently. Indominus Rex

I had a Rayami, First of the Fallen deck together in the last year and while I really enjoyed playing it, I got into a faster meta that it felt a little too slow in. Seeing Indominus it reminded me a lot of Rayami but with a little less setup complexity at the cost of its abilities being a little le...

The most under played card in the format is Silent Artisan . Nobody ever plays it. Yoked Ox would like a word. That's a 4/4 for one mana in Doran, the Siege Tower . Try again. ;) In a format that Serra Ascendant exists.... Brought Back is a good card its just tough as white tends to lack the sac ou...

Indominus Rex, Alpha

I believe I saw on reddit or somewhere that Knight of Malice can give Indominus Rex, Alpha hexproof. Can Spirit of the Night give first strike? I am still a little lost as to what does or does not count with some of these conditional abilities. I assume offhand that you don't get first strike from s...

Ok, I have a bunch of changes I am making to this deck and I have very low confidence that all of these are going to work out however I was having a lot of issues just being zurged down, spot removed on my commander, and lack of card draw as a whole so my goal for these changes was mostly to increas...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Doom Whisperer

I think its still a very solid roleplayer in decks with heavy recursion elements and good paired with lifegain. It can also be used with some topdeck play type cards like Oracle of Mul Daya or Future Sight. I wouldn't say its a staple but I also haven't really been sad to see it in most decks.
