King Darien XLVIII

Man I have been on a deckbuilding kick of late. I am not sure if this one is getting built or not its a cool deck but there are a bunch of things I need to order to fill it in. It might though but I figured its cool enough to at least kick out here for people to see. I really love playing sort of dr...

Re: SCD: Nadu, Winged Wisdom

I showed up at my LGS last week and everyone was talking about this legend and how nobody was going to build it because it just breaks the game. I know that isn't to say that nobody will build it or that it won't be horrible when that person does build it but I guess for me it does prove that some p...

Re: Kaervek's War Crimes

I've never ever seen Tower of the Magistrate , lol Yea its not a highly played land but it is really fun to jack with equipment decks by giving their creatures pro artifacts and watching them all fall off. That tends to be about the only use for it but that isn't to say nobody could every swing a W...

Re: Kaervek's War Crimes

Just some thoughts from my Gisa the Hellraiser deck: If budget is not a problem (presumption given Bazaar is in here), Candelabra of Tawnos is definitely great as a mixed acceleration piece / crime committer in mono black. If you feel you're short on enablers, the following are all good additional ...

Re: Imodane - Red Spirit Bomb

I don't like False God at all. Even in precons it just feels bad. If it tapped for a single mana to begin with maybe but if you draw it early it's just a dead card. The mountain at least provides you with mana straight away. I think that if you are willing to accept a little more mulligans the wind...

Re: Imodane - Why is the burn deck gaining life?

Ok, with some of the discard and then draw spells in the deck I am realizing I can pick up some of the more..... situational spells I guess I will call them. I am going to experiment with some strong but narrow cards especially those in the instant / sorcery lane. I considered if I wanted to run mor...

Re: Chromium - Wraths and Draw Go

Something like Duelist's Heritage or Blackblade Reforged would be easy to include and significantly increase the damage output for Chromium. In my own list, which is a little weird. I've found the double strike to be pretty significant (killing in two vs three attacks can be a pretty big deal). Lis...

Chromium - Wraths and Draw Go

I wanted to look back at a control vs control style of deck and I always enjoyed Chromium. My first draft had a few sweepers that wouldn't kill my commander but I realized that I could lean into it a bit more and in a lot of ways not be very affected by them. If I draw too many sweepers I can also u...

Wilson Raised by Giants - Da Bear!

I really like big old vigilant boys and the fact that this bear can block flyers while being huge seems fun. Its got some draw and ramp and is fairly consistent with the pump being in command zone. For now its just a mockup but working on getting it together for some testing. Questing Beast probably...

Re: Evelyn - Vamp Tribal Mill

Fun side note, Molten Echoes pairs really well with double ETB triggers like Roaming Throne as it then creates additional tokens on ETB which further go crazy with double ETB of the commander. I didn't really see that interaction at first but it makes things go hard lol. I had a game where I untappe...

Re: Kaervek's War Crimes

In short I played two games with this deck and it was fun but I for the life of me didn't have enough crime triggers. I do like the basis of what I am doing I just needed to draw more cards and have more access to crime than I did. I had a good game that should have been a win for me if only I had m...

Re: SCD: Nadu, Winged Wisdom

Dirk, it's only a small part of your post but you nailed it. You deal with Nadu by countering it the first 3-4 times it's cast. That's the only viable interaction with it. The alternative is to combo out on turn 3 or 4. Alternatively we have also been talking about the like 3ish zero mana equip equ...

Re: SCD: Nadu, Winged Wisdom

I don't really think they're comparable. Nadu comes with the full package of draw and ramp with very little support - you could literally just have Shuko in play and win the game the turn you play nadu - it wouldn't even be that unlikely I don't think. Whereas edgar requires a lot more things to go...

Re: SCD: Nadu, Winged Wisdom

Sidar Jabari of Zhalfir was March of the Machines in 2023. Its a respectable commander but not traumatizing like Edgar. I am not sure that I would say that eminance is a problem so much as they pushed Edgar too far. Essentially the rest of the commanders with eminence are fine they just went too fa...

Re: SCD: Nadu, Winged Wisdom

We haven't seen eminence since 2017 or whatever it was, right? Seems like wotc has moved away from that sort of direct interaction with the CZ. Sidar Jabari of Zhalfir was March of the Machines in 2023. Its a respectable commander but not traumatizing like Edgar. I am not sure that I would say that...

Re: Evelyn - Vamp Tribal Mill

I came up with a few more changes I wanted to push through. Entomb → Glass-Cast Heart I realized that while Entomb to get Bloodghast is really good for this deck, I essentially don't have a secondary target for it. I think the repeated vamp tokens of the artifact probably not as good as Bloodghast f...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread

On a slightly different note, has anyone else noticed that the play boosters has really hurt limited events in their area? For example, there have been a noticeable drop in the number of people playing in the prereleases at my LGS since the changeover. And the people I've talk to, it is 100% cost (...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread

Managed to watch all of season 1 of the Mandalorian. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but that was shockingly mid. Why was that such a phenomenon? Andor was way more interesting. All I could think for the mandalorian was "why is this dude a bounty hunter when he never wants to hurt anyone or...

Re: SCD: Nadu, Winged Wisdom

So there is significant precedent for banning cards for being powerful engines that create non deterministic wins I think. Paradox engine being the most obvious. Nadu is a stupid compact win package both in and out of the command zone and does so in a way that will chew up game time. So this is mor...

Re: SCD: Nadu, Winged Wisdom

Being simic I think will be the death knell. And I think what people aren't realizing about this card (except @illakunsaa ) is that the card is independently an *insane* value engine outside of the command zone. Like, so broken it's absurd. A ton of decks have accidental synergies with it. There's ...

Re: How many layers of sleeves do you use?

I double sleeve all my decks. Its important that if you are going to do it to reverse the direction of the inner sleeve as it helps a LOT against liquid spills. I think liquid spills is the primary reason to double sleeve. That said, I don't use a playmat because I don't really see the point so long...

Rosnakht - Heroic Polymorph

This isn't meant to be a super serious kind of deck there probably are better commanders to be had I just liked the vibe of Rosnakht. I really wish there were more target buff red spells with cantrips to them but I gotta work with what we got. I ended up doing it as a creature light polymorph concep...
