Re: Titania, Protector of Argoth
Few changes and a little land utility to discuss. IN Force of Vigor|97680 >> OUT Krosan Grip : Sad day to pull the last Krosan Grip from a deck, but casting for [sym=0] without split second is going to be more useful than casting for [sym=2][sym=g] with it. Thanks for the reprint Thunder Junction! I...

Re: 5c Mana Base
I forgot about Krosan Verge + Triomes, which gets all 5 colors across 2 lands. Depending on if you consider this a "Fetch", but it is the best fixer in 5-color triomes and now I'm not sure I even have it in my deck. Will fix that soon.

Re: making multiple monocolor decks
I don't think I could have more than 2 mono-color decks in the same color. Even 2 is a stretch because I don't play enough magic to get enough enjoyment out of 2 decks in the same color identity. And I like multi-color too much to have any mono decks in the same color. Right now I have almost the co...

Re: Karador, Ghost Chieftain - Quest for Control
I like Honest Rutstein better than Savvy Trader . It is 1 cheaper, only gets creatures back and only reduces cost of creatures, but let's be honest, we are primarily casting creatures from the GY, so I think the cost reduction is comparable, and I think the limitation to creatures only recursion is ...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Isildur's Fateful Strike
Living Death = Probably one of the most compact win conditions for GY decks outside of straight combo. Been using is in Karador for years and it is my #1 way to win the game. I have gotten a little greedy with the self mill, but so far that deck is the only all-in GY deck in the meta, so not enough...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
Volatile Stormdrake = Fixed Gilded Drake is sure interesting. Steals 4 drops and smaller permanently, but requires more hoops to keep anything bigger. More targeted removal at sorcery speed than actual theft, but can easily steal commanders or utility guys with upside of bouncing for more uses. I u...

Re: 5c Mana Base
10 shocks 10 Battlebond lands or slow lands I think you'll find this to be horrible. There's no way it'll be balanced. I'd play the color picking gates and thriving lands over off-color pairs you won't use much. But I really strongly agree with your Farseek manabase and think that is almost surely ...

Re: 5c Mana Base
My personal path to semi-budget 5c mana base is the heavy-green route. This is how I set it up, but I am doing to try the way Ruiner did it with 10 non-typed duals like Battlebond lands or Slow lands with some Shocks when I complete my set of Battlebond lands. Anyway, here is my current 5c mana base...

Re: [MH3] Tamiyo, Inquisitive Student - Turn 4, draw half your deck
64% chance to Thassa combo the table by turn 4? Sounds like this deck list belongs in the cEDH sub. No offense. Fast mana and free counters support this conclusion. I guess the main draw is that getting Tamiyo out turn 1 reduces your threat surface to counterspells since loyalty abilities cannot be ...

The old bordered foil promo dig through time is frigging sweeeeeeet https://product-images.tcgplayer.com/fit-in/437x437/245172.jpg I ended up going with the Ultimate Masters foil to match the original border style :smirk: Not sure where it's going since I do really like having the two flashback dra...

Cards I have on my want to get in the deck list Echoing Deeps - I think this should be really solid bet for copying Field of the Dead in many circumstances and makes for nice Realms Uncharted package if I add that. Which i may. Tolaria West - land tutor for land seeems good Petrified Field is a car...

Re: Cards like Surge to Victory
My brother cast this a couple times in a Zaffai, Thunder Conductor , now Magnus the Red deck and when it works, it's awesome. But when you cannot get attackers through, it is pretty much dead. So it is a high variance card. I don't remember what he copied, but it was a spell that was at least 6 cmc....

Re: Kalamax Midrange/Tempo
benjameenbear thank you for commenting. I will strongly consider Dig Through Time here. Originally it was left out because I wanted to keep my graveyard around, and the foil copy was expensive, so I played other cards. Without Underworld Breach , I have more cards in my graveyard like creatures and...

Re: Those whose partners play commander: how is that working out for you?
My wife will not play magic with me. I am a very competitive and strategic person. She is carefree, non-competitive, and anti-strategy, so she has the wisdom to foresee that playing this game together would not yield any beneficial outcomes to our relationship. She is just not a strategy gamer, she ...

Re: [SCD] Sand Scout
I personally do not think there are enough good deserts for this card to really shine yet. It adds a touch of flexibility to be able to play the new fixing deserts + scavenger grounds, but the true "cost" of this card is diluting your utility lands or mana producing lands with mediocre des...

Re: Kalamax Midrange/Tempo
pokken yes getting 5 of something even generally mundane like a Frost Titan can become a powerful win condition. I do enjoy casting it. I was also looking at cutting Phantasmal Image , but a 2 mana clone can be so useful at times that I am almost never unhappy to see it. I need to get Bribery in a ...

Quick swap from a last minute trade with a buddy a couple weeks ago. Re: [MCD] Typed Land Packages
Desert does seem to be getting the most goodies lately, having some cards are are generally playable outside any other desert synergies. Land types like these have a tendency to get better over time, as the next set we see caves or gates in could print something that makes a previously mediocre card...

I am looking intently for some spicy instants to come from the instant and sorcery deck, but so far all that have been spoiled are sorcerys, artifacts and creatures with flash, but no instants :\ . Re: Karador, Ghost Chieftan, Abzan Value Midrange
Cactus Preserve is one of the best manlands we have seen in a while, but I'm not sure what it does for Karador's strategy. I guess it can do some post-wipe beats with hefty 8/8 stat line, but I am not sure that it worth the land slot here when there are so many other utility lands looking for homes...

Enchantment sac outlets in BUG?
Attrition, Erebos, Bleak-Hearted , Vampiric Rites
Better sac outlets: Yawgmoth, Thran Physician, Spawning Pit, I've been liking Disciple of Griselbrand as a fair sac outlet.
