Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 01/13/2020)

gkourou Punishing Fire is 2RRR + 1 life for the opponent to kill two 2-toughness creatures (or 3 toughness ones when combined with Plague Engineer ) that needs two cards to be assembled and is interactable via graveyard hate, in-tribe disruption effects, or simply having too many lords that 2 damag...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 01/13/2020)

Glad they didn't nuke Titan like they did with Opal decks. OuaT banning was a step in the right direction, but I don't know why on earth they didn't ban Veil of Summer as well and just be done with it. Oh well. Hope it gets nixed in the next update. If Titan keeps being prevalent, I would look at Fi...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 08/26/2019)

So you waste a turn paying 2 mana and calling planeswalker with spyglass, and if you are lucky he had it in hand, so he doesn't need to play it. Seems really bad. You waste something, he doesn't. Other possibility he played it and allready used it, bevore you spyglass. Again bad. It's not a solutio...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/08/2019)

So do we drop Arclight Phoenix entirely and adopt a Titi + Aria plan and go Bedlam Reveler for value? I already have a playset of Reveler ready just in case, but I think I'll wait and try an Izzet Charm + Lightning Axe plan first. Discarding two Phoenixes on turn 1 and reanimating them on 2 was the ...

Re: Your top five favourite modern cards

1) Arcbound Ravager - A masterpiece (no pun intended) of a card in terms both of design and power level, and my favourite all-time card since I started playing back during Mirrodin Block. Probably helps that I love all things colorless (specially artifacts) to the point of fetishism. I WILL play Rav...

Re: Blue Black Control

I pretty much prefer the Mystical Teachings version of the deck, although I reckon there was a time where Forbidden Alchemy was better because it could get things other than Instants and fed Gurmag Angler . However, with so much Astrolabe decks running around durdling a bunch, I think the ability to...

Re: [C19] Empowered Autogenerator (TCGplayer)

That flavor text is so meta on so many levels, although it would be way funnier if the card had a Phyrexian cost of some sort.

Re: [Deck] Ninjas

So after some testing, I've discovered that going with discard is pulling into one too many directions at once, thus I've settled that (at least for my playstyle) it's better to answer our opponents reactively rather than proactively. Why is that? Because discard both: 1) Forces you to run Ornithopt...

Re: [Deck] Ninjas

Has anyone tried Smoke Shroud? Is it the real deal or just a meme? I can help but think that it's the latter, specially since it's a sorcery-speed tap out that we can't discard to trigger for free.

Re: [Deck] Ninjas

Dimir Charm is a good find which can be compared against Tyrant's Scorn . One can counter some sorceries like Scapeshift , Faithless Looting and Ancient Stirrings , while the other can save your creatures or bounce big / death triggers one. I'd have to run a comparison about the creature destructio...

Re: [Deck] Ninjas

a 21 land manabase is capable of supporting 2 colorless lands. Those can be field of ruin, ghost quarter, blast zone, or if you need more men then they can be mutavault. Take what I said with a grain of salt though, as I had less 20 games from my build. Got mana screwed only once on 21 lands with t...

Re: [Deck] Ninjas

This is what I'm testing right now. Although I admit I don't have the nerve to pilot it in a tournament (I'd prefer some of my more orthodox Tier 1 decks), it has served me well in casual play and through some FNMs: Creature (25) 4 Faerie Seer 4 Changeling Outcast 4 Spellstutter Sprite 4 Ninja of th...
