Re: "Quirks That Define Your EDH Style"
Gonna try and describe what I percieve to be 'my style' of deckbuilding and playing. Winning is of low priority to me I will *absolutely* play to win at the table, though not at "any cost". But this is often compromised in a number of ways before I get there. I won't build optimal generals...

Re: That Ain't Legal: M'odo, the Gnarled oracle
Treasure hunt deck? There are a lot of ways to get lands to hand that are often more efficient than trying to draw an equivalent number of cards. Thats a pretty solid direction to take him.
Don't think he'd be that good outside of the combo, big chance that you pay seven and get a random one drop =(

Re: Seeking advice: the right amount of decks?
Theres something weirdly satisfying about hitting all of the mono and dual colour, its what I've been up to as well. Especially like the dual colour as I feel they have even more personality than the primary colours themselves. Though I cheat and let three colour decks count if they focus on a prima...

Re: Colourshift Commander
Thats pretty much what colourshift is, save the "how do you cast Chromium without relevant lands" questions. Instead of forcing any-colour rocks or enchantment ramp into every deck, we change Chromium's colour.

Re: Are hatebears viable?
I've built Kondo/Tymna fairly recently as a hatebears deck, awesome to see its getting some recognition as it was a very unpopular combination on edhrec. I play in a semi-competitive meta, without a lot of the easier combos or the common and high powered 'staples' such as rift or craterhoof. We try ...

Re: Seeking advice: the right amount of decks?
I really like the archetype approach. Having built and rebuilt so many decks I see them naturally fall into repeating archetypes already. An alternative approach would be to "cover your bases", by mapping out the archetypes of EDH (or just ones you like) and then building and maintaining t...

Re: Seeking advice: the right amount of decks?
Dunno how many decks I have now, a few more than whats in the sig. I build decks with the explicit idea in mind that they are probably not permanent. Use proxies extensively and only recently have gotten to over a half a dozen "all legit" decks. Been playing EDH since something like 2012. ...

Re: Curves: How often do you want a turn one play?
"Depends on the Deck" etc. Generally, my more aggressive decks or my green based decks are more interested in one drops. Mana Elves are hard to pass up... Rest of the time its the usual mix of later-game removal and overpowered artifacts (looking at you Sol Ring and Skullclamp!). If I ran ...

Re: Proxies in Commander
Big thumbs up to proxies. If everyone in your play group agrees to them, you can all save a bunch of money. Whats not to like.
I also run 2-3 no proxy decks for the few times I go to other groups or FLGS

Re: Eliminating First Player Advantage
My playgroup has been using random rules from a set that Sheldon said were "being looked at" as commander rules. The Scaling Scry rule, exactly as explained here, is one of them. Have found it to work extremely well in off-setting first player advantage and the bad feels (and/or disadvanta...

Re: Overused Cards in EDH
At the risk of this turning into a dogpile on rift, I absolutely agree. Its an auto-include for any blue deck. But even in my no-counter U control deck I refuse to run it. I don't have one card but instead a type of card - generic Extra Turns spells. Theres little downside to just windmill slamming ...

Re: Ideas for a different Spellslinger deck
Jeleva is fantastic for casting huge dumb spells. You can often end up in magical christmasland by having your mana open for copy effects while Jeleva casts the original for free, and she dies so much that the red and black 'commandstorm' cards work really well.

Re: Do you think C19 is above and beyond?
I think that Commander 2019 is pretty damn sweet. I love many of the commander designs, and am especially impressed that it was the Naya deck that imo had the coolest generals for once. Literally did not even think of reprints till I saw it mentioned ITT. Don't care at all, will just proxy whatever ...

Re: Good commander options for "all the damage"
I'm wanting to avoid mono-red as I already have a red deck. A friend of mine plays Hidetsugu and I'll second that it can be super fast. I used to have a Xenagos deck, it was pretty legit but looking to run something new if possible. Though talking about it makes me remember how sweet it was to get d...

Good commander options for "all the damage"
I'm looking for suggestions for commanders that can throw around a ton of damage pretty quickly, be it commander damage or otherwise. Current lead contender is Brion Stoutarm , who can throw creatures at players to bring that life total down and also gains me life to keep ahead if it is a race or th...

Re: When it it Okay to Unleash the Hounds?
Like two hours, however many turns that is. I'd like it to be less but we have some slow players around.
If we're talking turns, 10-15 is good, 5-10 is a bit fast, and less than 5 means we've accidentally let someone bring out their 'cEDH' deck

Re: What Makes Bad Games?
Pretty sure I've seen these posted here, but my experience with crappy games has usually come from one of these areas; Deck Strength Mismatch Most people should know what I mean when I say that a 75% deck at a "cEDH" table, or somebody playing land destruction against low level jank or new...

[XLN-M19] WRx Feather
Feather decks are pretty popular at the moment, and since this is a new forum I figured we needed a place to talk about them. I've been having success running Feather + Black, which I picked up from Jim Davis who got it from user Pilototo who went 5-0 with it on MTGO. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

Re: Star Commander
I've found this generally better than 5 player FFA. It can also be fun to try and colour align such as in the normal Star format.
So try and have a blue, or predominantly blue, player "opposing" the red and green focused players, with the white and black focused players to either side.

Re: Colourshift Commander
From my experience, simply running blue breaks the colour pie as it is.
The main thing imo is to have fun an express yourself. Having this type of control over the general helps facilitate that.

Colourshift Commander
My playgroup have come up with an idea (though I'm sure other people have had the same) - colourshifting commanders to create new variants of decks that haven't been seen before. The general rule of thumb, is to swap the colours of a general - ie, Red/Blue/Black would become Green/White. But this is...
