Re: Sisay: Legendary Creature Toolbox

I haven't figured out which crew member he represents. I would have guessed Gerrard, but he's already there. The following planeswalkers were once crew member of the reconstructed Weatherlight. However, none of them remained in Dominaria shortly after the destruction of Belzenlok's Cabal. Ajani Gol...

Re: Sisay: Legendary Creature Toolbox

A few more random thoughts. Merieke Ri Berit is easy to cast, great at filling out Sisay's color pie, steals creatures, and is good at destroying them too. She plays nice with Samut, and even better with Derevi (every untap trigger you throw at her can destroy someone's creature). Mikaeus, the Unhal...

Re: Sisay: Legendary Creature Toolbox

Lately I definitely prefer Sisay when it has Jegantha, the Wellspring in the companion zone. I'm guessing you don't want to give up the 5-10 cards necessary to make that happen so I'll mention some random thoughts that my Sisay deck before Jegantha was spoiled. I do the same as you incidentally, I u...

Re: Jegantha, the Wellspring // Sisay, Weatherlight Captain - Companion // Commander Pairing

Definitely a solid build you got there. Do you feel grim monolith and fellwar stone are stronger than dockside extortionist in this deck? I haven't experimented with dockside yet but it seems solid. One very versatile card I use is Saheeli Rai . I might be the only one who uses it but the token she ...

Re: Jegantha, the Wellspring // Sisay, Weatherlight Captain - 5 Color 101 Cards Companion

Hey I was just remembering something. When Urza's Saga came out, I traded everything but my soul to get 4x Sneak Attack and made a deck with the nastiest monsters mtg had to offer. A key component of the deck was Orcish Lumberjack (and to a lesser degree, Tinder Wall ). The games would often go like...

Re: Jegantha, the Wellspring // Sisay, Weatherlight Captain - 5 Color 101 Cards Companion

I'm not saying my way is better but this is another way to go about it: tap Jegantha - derevi - untap tap - Gideon, Martial Paragon - untap tap - Oath of Teferi - use Gideon again tap - Aminatou - flicker Gideon. Use him the first time. tap - Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy . Use Gideon 2nd time. tap - Samut...

Re: Jegantha, the Wellspring // Sisay, Weatherlight Captain - 5 Color 101 Cards Companion

I knew you were more than just a pretty face...well I don't know what you look like, but well done! My face is gorgeous! I've enjoyed Kinnan, bonder prodigy in my build. He earns his spot by essentially making every mana rock and dork produce double. Plus he's efficient for completing the Sisay col...

Re: Jegantha, the Wellspring // Sisay, Weatherlight Captain - 5 Color 101 Cards Companion

I think you can do those Jegantha sequences more efficiently, and with using fewer card slots. One key point is Aminatou's exile/return ability is the most powerful, and it's a lot more useful to use it on an untapping planeswalker than on Derevi. For example Tap Jegantha - put Kiora, Behemoth becko...

Re: Jegantha, the Wellspring // Sisay, Weatherlight Captain - 5 Color 101 Cards Companion

You'll need to take out force of vigor . This deck is a blast hey? I really like your take on it. I've found Gideon, Martial Paragon to be great for untapping and pumping up your creatures, and I seem to be the only person in the world who plays Generator Servant but it lets you cast Jegantha 1-2 tu...

Re: Sisay and her Weatherlight crew - the coolest deck I ever made (competitive)

This deck will be a lot easier to build thanks to those new, fetchable tricolor lands. Did some more updates - added pics and background behind the deck. Can't believe I didn't know that Urza (who I wrote the primer for) built the Weatherlight. I can't wait to put the Ikoria cards in but I've been p...

Re: Zaxara - aggro, card draw, combo - this hydra does it all

Have you considered Doubling Season, Hardened Scales, and/or Gargos? Great question. I've considered them all. In terms of the first two, I find that having extra counters on things doesn't really make much of a difference. And I'd like to find room for Gargos-- he's good removal and great for hydr...

I threw this list together in about 5min but after a little playtesting I can already tell Zaraxa is awesome. I'm definitely gonna build this - dropping free hydras while casting quality spells is j...

Kathril -- boardwipes and beatdown

https://227rsi2stdr53e3wto2skssd7xe-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Kathril.png I'm not seeing many decklists for this guy so I figured I'd make one. Re: When a beloved deck disgusts you

I have a handful of pretty optimized decks and I put tons of thought and playtesting into them, except for one-- Selvala, heart of the wilds . It's a cheap deck (relatively speaking) and I threw in random big creatures and for some reason, it consistently outperforms most of my other decks. I love p...

Emry, beware creepy, water-breathing chicks bearing gifts

I'm not sure if I should really consider her Cedh or not but I threw together a quick list and playtested her on tappedout--she seems really good. Re: The Urzanator!

Theoric Do you think there is a way to build Urza that isn't Stax? Something competitive that is? Sure, although you should keep in mind that you are getting rid of Urza's greatest strength. The ability to make stax pieces effect only your opponents and even turn them into mana is what makes him so...

Pir and Toothy, when imagination become nightmare

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DqM5xOCVYAAVtaQ.jpg I'm in the process of building this. It's a competitive, fun, and flavorful deck that builds up card advantage as Toothy quickly grows large enough to one-shot people. It has Jace, Wielder of Mysteries as another wincon. A typical game: Turn 1: land, ...

This doenst work because Scion is still Atarka, it doesn't have the ability of Scion to turn into Teneb.
Damn I didn't notice that in the card rulings. It makes sense though since it doesn't have that 'that also has this ability' line that various other copycat cards have. Thanks.

Re: fast effects during combat damage step

Okay thanks guys. Here's a related question. Rule 510.2 states that no player has the chance to cast spells or activate abilities between the time combat damage is assigned and the time it's dealt, but Teneb states that when damage is dealt, you can animate a creature. So let's say I use scion's abi...
