Re: The Shattered Realm: Creative
As I already posted in the Shattered Realm mechanics thread, I'd like to contribute to the set, but I needed to read this thread. Now that I did, I got to say there's a lot of cool ideas and proposals in here. I like the premise of the floating lands, this is so intriguing to me. There are still som...

Re: The Shattered Realm: Mechanical
I'd be interested to help out more, but I would need to read up some more on your creative work on the plane and setting. I did read all the posts in this thread, but I was mainly looking at the mechanics and didn't pay all that much attention to the groups in this world. My mechanics proposals were...

Re: The Shattered Realm: Mechanical
First I have to say, nice idea for a set, I like the premises and the themes. This has potential. I'd love to contribute some ideas. I think there's several kinds of Aura mechanics enchantment sets can benefit from, so here are three mechanics for you to consider using. Probably not all, but maybe y...

Creature keyword ability Stun
Once upon a time* I swore to the cardboard goddess that I'm going to design a creature keyword ability that could potentially be an evergreen ability for each [sym=u][sym=unknown] two color combination. This is my attempt at the [sym=w][sym=u] ability. (* recently) Now this color combination has acc...

Re: Hexproof variant
Hexward? I like this. Nice and simple, I'm going to use it. Regarding the ability, I'm back at the original version, because the opponent should get the chance to do something about the creature at the beginning step of combat, before it gets the ward. Hexward (This creature can't be the target of ...

Re: Hexproof variant
Hexdodge! That's a possibility... I just wanted it to be a name that points to more of a passive thing, because I feel with something active the limit during attack/combat makes less sense. You made me think about Hexdamping. But that might be better for the spelltax variant of hexproof... Sigh, na...

Re: Blue/black 'evergreen' creature ability
The reasons to prefer Shroud are all valid, but in the end I think what Maro said about the question of Shroud vs Hexproof has to trump all that. A lot of players didn't get that Shroud doesn't let you target your own creatures. And if your mechanic fights against what a lot of players naturally wan...

Re: Hexproof variant
Thanks for the feedback. You have a point about the differences between the conditions, maybe I'm just going to change the attacking to "combat phase", so it's all about turns and phases. Cloak (This creature can't be the target of spells or abilities your opponents control the turn it ent...

Hexproof variant
Hexproof is a nice ability, but it has some shortcomings for an evergreen ability, which can be seen by its reduced usage on common and uncommon creatures in recent years. It's very usefull for reactionary effects, but as a simple creature ability, it limits interactivity too much. Wizards has chose...

Re: Keyword action based on Phase out
Well I don't even know if it's really needed... After thinking some more about it I realised that just phasing out the creature in response to a threat accomplishes nearly the same result.

Re: miscellaneous card design discussion thread
I would replace the first sentence with an activated ability: Promise - Gain 2 life (0: Exile this card from your hand or graveyard. As long as it's exiled, the next time you cast a spell with its name, gain 2 life, then put this card on the bottom of your library.) In reminder text you can take som...

Keyword action based on Phase out
Recently I was quite surprised to see that Wizards apparently is bringing back phasing in the form of phase out. If they're serious about this, it could open up a lot of interesting possibilities. I just had the idea that it might be able to 'regenerate' Regeneration. So I pressnt to you the keyword...

Re: Blue/black 'evergreen' creature ability
Agreed on all of that. I'm glad that Wizards is working on tweaking hexproof. I was thinking about the spelltax variant, but I'm going more in the direction of Tromokratis, even though I didn't know that card (I paused from Magic for the last 3 or 4 years) It's awesome that you're also working on 'e...

Re: Blue/black 'evergreen' creature ability
Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it. Maybe I should write some more thoughts about my intentions with this ability. I know that U/B has access to flying, but the problem with that is that it's shared with W/U, that it's used so often for all kinds of creatures, and that it's less often used in ...

Blue/black 'evergreen' creature ability
Hi, this is my first post. As a long time Magic player who is interested in the game's design, the relative lack of blue creature evergreen abilities has been kind of frustrating to me. Blue/black is a color combination that doesn't have an evergreen ability. Skulk not working as evergreen was disap...
