Lurrus isn't Snapcaster Mage though.
You are right, before a 3 mana tax, it was so much better than Snapcaster that the comparison between the two is farcical.

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 03/09/2020)

Yeah funny, I've played so much Historic Companion is actually not even the worst thing in the format right now. Winota, even without Agent, is just disgusting. I think I've won against it like 1 time. lol

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 03/09/2020)

Predictions for tomorrow stand as they are: Big shakeup in Standard. Agent of treachery at least, and from there rec, fires, maybe t3f all possible. Historic: Winota for sure, maybe Nexus also. Agreed, but I think Winota takes a hit in Standard as well as Historic, while Fires, Wilderness Rec, and ...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 03/09/2020)

Right, but thats because it was Tier 0, we just didnt have enough people on it to prove it. That deck did absolutely idiotic things, and did them way before Turn 4. I feel like if we had back then some of the combo players that put in heavy work today online, it would have been clear very fast. Eith...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 03/09/2020)

I believe I did. Amulet was always playable, but I'd rather play other decks if they win more often. I believe that Amulet did need those upgrades to keep up with a Modern that has gotten stronger with power creep. That may be selfish, but I don't feel like playing Amulet at Tier 3. It was not tier...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 03/09/2020)

Yeah, some previews are very much desired right now. Cannot wait to see if things get shaken up. And 100% you are right, Bloom version was not competitive, it was busted. Post Bloom, it was still competitive, but people didnt see that, they just saw that their completely busted lines of play (that w...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 03/09/2020)

I lost to the deck the day it was 'banned'. It did not need Bloom. Thats the honest to god truth lol. Regardless, its not a relevant line of discussion. Some decks die, others live on. A poor comparison by Simto does not mean we need to rehash discussions that have lasted 4 years, and that within th...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 03/09/2020)

To be fair, I don't think that everyone knew what would happen. I felt like Kiki was a solid replacement and I thought my Amulet deck was dead with Summer Bloom banned. Azusa, Lost but Seeking is so much slower. I was seriously pissed at the time. :fuming: But then I didn't realize I'd get OUaT for...

Re: MaRo makes a comment about the secondary market

They dont ignore the secondary market. They very clearly price (or recommend pricing) on their product to maximize reprint equity and prevent people's collectibles from devaluing for the most part.

If they banned urza's tower tomorrow and said it was for diversity reasons you might feel differently.
Bingo. Same for if Amulet itself had been banned, or Prime Time, same as if Grapeshot had been banned, or Ad Naus.

Lattice didnt remove your deck, you still get to Turn 3 Karn.

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 03/09/2020)

I know folks dont like to hear this, but again, its not Modern. Its the whole R&D of the game and a lot more people are starting to wake up to it. I've been saying for years that the game is being done wrong, and it simply has been. You need to ban MULTIPLE cards (3+) out of nearly every single ...

No, its Blake who pushes for Twin being banned.

I dont think anyone is 'in charge' of Modern, and if it is actually Blake, then its no surprise at all that the forum has been this way for years on end.

The Bonder stuff should have been the main focus for sure. I mean it kinda is... What do you think Companions are? :p Pokemon. The Bonder mechanic actually was reinforced in the Commander release, with very little in the Standard set itself. This is what I am referring to. https://scryfall.com/sear...

I still put Modern, because they dont seem to understand the continued relevance of the format.

I absolutely wrote some long responses when given the option, because they need to understand the damage they are doing to the game at this point.

I think with fixes, Historic could be fine, but you need to already ban out so many things which are simply not acceptable for long term play. Lukka, Nissa, T3feri Winota, Agent, Uro Fires, Wilderness. Everything is just so 'I WIN LOLOL I"M SO GOOD' and snowballs out of control near instantly. ...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 03/09/2020)

Could certainly be the case. I would be amazed at how low my expectations for them would be to ever improve the game at that point, but it is what it is.
