Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/08/2019)
Why not? In straight UR there is Tormenting Voice, Chart a Course, Izzet Charm, and bunches of Looting effects. Not a single one is 1 Mana. You know as well as I do where the power in Phoenix is, and its not in casting a 2 mana Loot card. This is not Dredge that can leverage Cathartic Reunion. If w...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/08/2019)
I think the difference between what Probe meant for Storm, and DS, and Infect, is VASTLY different, from what Looting means to Mardu, Phoenix, Dredge, Hogaak.
Its not comparable. Phoenix would literally not function.

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/08/2019)
The only thing clearly said, is that GY decks are fine and a desired part of the format.
Would those decks be remotely competitive without Looting? No. So I'll just draw a line from A (GY decks = YES) to B (GY decks without Looting = NO) and...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/08/2019)
1. MTGO data drives ban decisions: Wizards exclusively cites MTGO data in the announcement. We must pay attention to this data source as much, if not more than, others. 2. Bans are data-driven: Recent bans show a concerted Wizards effort to use real-world data. Our ban predictions must also be data...

Re: [Official] Modern Prices Discussion
Veil of Summer may be worth looking at for those who spec on things in bulk. I just grabbed some Japanese ones to try out instead of Force of Negation, that I wont pay for, as my 'interaction'.

Someone said it right, and you all got taken.
Everything we have ACTUAL NUMBERS to support counters his assessment.

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/08/2019)
Was that the event with someone playing UB Ninja with Smoke Shroud hard cast on a Fairy? :p
I think I saw it on twitch clip.
Regardless, I sure hope Jund is legit again and not just seeing a 'BBE Bubble' like early last year.

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/08/2019)
The suppression angle is documented, and proven false. I dont particularly (aka at all) care about what 'pros' said, because outside an absolute fraction of the pro player base, none of them have an actual clue as to a nuanced understanding of the format. That said, Twin talk should take a page out ...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/08/2019)
No its not broken, but look at its Top 8's over the last what, 10 months? It's unquestionably one of, if not the, best decks in the format.

I think the potency of Phoenix is being downplayed here, but anyway. SCG Classic Top 8. Eldrazi Tron 1st Humans 2nd Humans 3rd Burn 4th Izzet Phoenix Colorless Eldrazi Izzet Phoenix Azorius Control 2 more phoenix in the top 16. http://www.starcitygames.com/decks/Star_City_Games_Classic/2019-07-14_mo...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/08/2019)
That is just an evaluation opinion though, and players are notoriously bad at evaluating cards. Alternatively, if a deck is so bad that it ceases to function without this card, then that card is so inherently broken that it has no place in the format, IMO. You uh..may want to be careful on that one...

Re: [Official] Modern Prices Discussion
I grabbed the WB, UR, and UG canopy lands, and agreed all should go up over time.
Makes me wonder when they complete the cycle.

I looked for an option to swap the avatar to the left, but couldnt find one. Would certainly appreciate it if we could do so. :D

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/08/2019)
Has modern always been about talking about banning a card and then immediately moving on to talking about the next card in line to be banned when the first one is gone? It gets pretty tiresome. Long story short, no. There was a time when we as a community thought we knew the rules, but I dont think...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/08/2019)
so with the banning of bridge from below, does dredge become the default graveyard deck again? Yes. A number of folks already see it as the 'best deck' though I think thats questionable with UW/Phoenix fighting for top spot. Dredge however never left Tier 1 in terms of power, Hogaak just replaced i...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/08/2019)
I used it a lot in early Phoenix/Swiftspear builds to beat up on KCI, it's a fine creature.
Was wondering if Scale up would work with it.

Turn off PM's from 'Foes'
Hey folks.
Please either enable a way to block PM's from users, or default them to off for 'Foes'. Seems odd to have an ignore option while leaving PM's open?

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/08/2019)
Those however, are not asymmetrical.
Regardless, I am hopeful that the meta will gravitate towards UW, and the new versions of Jund that look really cool, with the Looting decks as part of the meta, not defining it.
