Re: Lyra Angel Tribal
I don't feel limited in this deck specifically, no. The angels are high quality permanents that give longevity to me with lifegain. It's really the perfect setup to endure and gradually build. I noticed Lyra + 2 other angels usually puts me in a perfect position. Ramping is rarely an issue with the ...

Re: Fall set Name revealed at SDCC
High fantasy / fairy tale world is one of my favorite themes. I hope they reprint Bitterblossom as well! Yes. Yeeeeeessssss. I love the Faeries in the artwork as well. Instead of looking insectoid, they look more traditional. And it's adorable the tiny items they're carrying. I really hope this set...

Re: Fall set Name revealed at SDCC
If this is the Fairy Tale World with Faeries... it's a win. I hope it will have strong Celtic/European influences in the setting as Lorwyn did. Essentially more focus on human interactions with the fantasy elements, as opposed to being as foreign as Lorwyn sometimes could by lacking the human eleme...

Re: Lyra Angel Tribal
I don't run Quicksilver Amulet in my Lyra deck either, and I've never felt the need for it. That's a smart cut, in my books. Like you observe, while Angels are high CMC, most of the really good ones are in the 5-7 range, and other discounts like Urza's Incubator, Herald's Horn, Oketra's Monument or...

Re: Old characters left for legends?
She's an unnamed angel, Orzhov colors, who consorted with demons, believing that it was the right approach for the benefit of humanity I suppose. Avacyn declared her a heretic, single-handedly slew her and her entire flight of angels and forbade her name. I think my new Arixmethes-like quest will be...

Re: [M20] Bundle vs. Box Card Stock
I'm glad I am not the only one who noticed this. I feel like the Pre-release and Bundle cards are actually thicker, and glossy, and I absolutely love it. This is the card quality that I want. They have a deep, rich, saturated hue and the gloss really makes the artwork look crisp and gleaming. I've b...

Re: Lyra Angel Tribal
It's always a difficult choice on what angels to run, that's for sure, and I can understand not wanting/needing the mana-doublers if your meta will allow for being able to survive on just two or three angels out at a time. But though I appreciate the cost reduction of The Immortal Sun , that is one...

Re: Lyra Angel Tribal
Oh, I love Lyra! I've built and disassembled so many angel decks over the year, but when Lyra came out, she answered all my angel-tribal prayers. I have a Lyra deck of my own, too, and it runs smoothly enough in my meta. Looking over yours, I see the easiest cuts to make (and I totally feel you on ...

Re: Arixmethes, Slumbering Isle: Do Not Disturb
Another Arixmethes deck :D While my preference for Arixmethes is to play thematic sea creatures and an exploration theme, this is a more streamlined way of playing him. I do love landfall strategies though, but I can understand focusing more on bounce. It always pains me not to see more sea creature...

Re: Having Your Voice Heard
Ultimately, if players would adhere to the "build casually, play competitively" philosophy of Commander, there would be a lot less strain on the RC to police the format. But I still maintain that the long spell of silence on cards like Paradox Engine and Iona was concerning for the RC bein...

Re: Having Your Voice Heard
So it's preferred to have no transparency and have cards secretly assessed on such a list, and spontaneously banned, instead of us knowing about what they're evaluating, and will ban one way or another? Doesn't seem better to me. I have to assume the list of borderline cards worth watching is longe...

Re: Having Your Voice Heard
I don't complain without suggesting a solution, so I suggest the RC release a "Warning List" or "Cards Under Evaluation" list that includes cards being considered for banning, or being observed, so players can feel more assured that the RC and its consultants are actually attend...

Re: Having Your Voice Heard
Another issue is the glacial pace at which change seem to occur, which makes people feel the RC is out of touch. Look how long it took to resolve Iona, or Paradox Engine, a card so many were saying would be banned on sight. It literally coined the phrase "Paradox Engine level good" because...

Re: Lyra Angel Tribal
I totally get it regarding Answered Prayers; the art is gorgeous. Can't wait for a playmat of that one. Angelic Destiny would be my #2 choice for the Cradle cut since most of your creatures are already flying and Angels, but I assume that's another one which you'd prefer to keep thanks to the art/t...

Re: Having Your Voice Heard
I just don't understand why Gifts Ungiven remains banned, for example. Or what the thought process behind some of the earlier bannings even were. There doesn't seem to be anything inherently unfun about tutors, but the combos they might tutor for that could be degenerate. But when I joined Commander...

Re: First Annual Commander Climate Survey
I voted to unban Gifts Ungiven, Prophet of Kruphix and Sway of the Stars, although I feel more confident about Gifts Ungiven out of the three. Cyclonic Rift needs to be banned, and I admit that as a devout Blue mage. It isn't rewarding to use, and it's upsetting to be subjected to as well. Just tras...

Re: Lyra Angel Tribal
I run Lyra Angel Tribal myself, and let me tell you, Cradle of Vitality is an absolute must-have in this list. It gets out of control so quickly with her, since you can activate it on each separate lifelink trigger and you're attacking with a few very beefy creatures, rather than a wide board. It a...

Probably tame on the silly scale, but it seems fun: Risqet, Seer of Segovia 1U Legendary Creature - Sphinx 1/1 Flying You may look at the top card of any library at any time. 3: Scry 1 When Risqet deals combat damage to a player, that player reveals their hand. Next: A legendary oracle of Thassa.

Re: Where do we go from here? Future set speculation.
All I ask for is a Return to Theros and a visit to Vryn focused on Jace. At some point in the game, I'd like a visit to Kamigawa with a focus on Tamiyo and her family. Even if it isn't in a standard-legal set.
Frankly, I'd like a mono-Blue Tamiyo to show up anywhere at this point.

Re: Thrasios's Expedition - Quest For Arixmethes
Thematic reasons (I considered Kydele, since she is from Theros, but it didn't feel right) and I prefer having only one Commander leading a deck. Thrasios has proven sufficient as a general alone as well.
