Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread

I have that crazy hair thing happen to me all the time after shaving - nothing like a nearly invisible beard dagger stuck in your finger so far you have to cut it out.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Adriana, Captain of the Guard

I'll also add that Melee increases the value of multiple combat steps quite nicely.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Adriana, Captain of the Guard

I can't really explain why but I love this card. We have a Conspiracy cube and I've frequently dumpstered my draft to pivot into her colors when I can. Melee is exceptional in limited on smaller creatures or tokens, particularly in a lower powered limited environment like Conspiracy. That being said...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Survival of the Fittest

One of the truly crazy bombs of MtG history. Amazing in literally every format where it has ever been legal. Can you believe this was in the same set as Oath of Druids?

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Hammer of Nazahn

Good combination of relevant abilities at a reasonable rate. No surprise that this has held value over time. As others have said it's a great addition to equipment focused decks and even decks that use a smaller but more expensive equipment package.

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread

I miss the old school pre releases around here. 2-300 people in a big convention hall made them feel like a big deal and I usually did well.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Zendikar Resurgent

It does a lot of work at your "average" EDH table, but the real gem is that last sentence since it's so easy to leverage unfairly. 7 cmc is certainly an issue, but this was a card my playgroup was very excited about when it was released and it's pretty much lived up to expectations.

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread

Whoever picked the cards for that Strixhaven Secret Lair owes us an apology (not that I'm the target market or anything). That being said that goofy ass Gamble is my favorite looking MTG card I've seen in a long while.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Al-abara's Carpet

Man they really loved expensive artifacts with even more expensive activation costs back in the day. There are scenarios where this is better than Forcefield but that's a pretty generous statement. Still the best flying carpet in the game I guess.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Spinal Embrace

In the early days of EDH this would bounce in and out of my Crosis deck because it really does a lot. It's never going to see a ton of play but the 6 cost is honestly not that bad considering what you get.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Blinkmoth Infusion

On one hand I'm surprised I've never seen anyone play this, but on the other hand I don't know what I would play it in either. I'm also willing to bet this can be used to pull off an infinite loop, at very least with Mycosynth Lattice.

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread

I've had good luck with my Google wifi mesh setup, also 3 APs. It's pretty limited when it comes to advanced features and you have to use it as the primary router for your network unless you want to double NAT everything, but for most people that doesn't really matter very much. I only got these bec...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Grenzo, Havoc Raiser

Goad is my favorite mechanic in recent memory and I enjoyed a Grenzo build at one time. He wasn't finishing out the game by himself but there are goblin related combos that can do the job just as well. Ultimately I replaced him with Marisi, Breaker of the Coil because he ultimately gets the job done...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Bazaar of Baghdad

I've proxied it up once for a reanimator style deck and it's perfectly fine there but not outrageous. As others have mentioned it's a pretty narrow card that doesn't really shine in this format much and that's ok.

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

I may have to alter my previous stance based on Ruthless Ripper and any sac outlet producing an infinite life loss loop. There's other easy loops for infinite life and mana too, but this one will get old fast even if it's relatively easy to disrupt. That being said I did always complain that my morp...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

If I hadn't recently pulled apart my morph deck Yedora and some sac outlets would certainly be on their way in. I like the card a lot and it's not like morph was anything more than a slow value engine for the most part anyway. Nothing wrong with giving that kind of deck a fun toy.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Arasta of the Endless Web

I don't have a token based deck anymore but When I was playing Thromok the Insatiable Dragonlair Spider was a midgame MVP, often allowing me to make a very lethal Thromok in a single turn cycle. This would be an auto-include in that deck for sure and I could see including it as a defensive option in...

Re: Day's Undoing, Time Spiral, etc.,

Personally I like how they disrupt the opponent's game plan by either encouraging them to play out their hand or punishing them for holding specific cards. I'll often pair them with mass-bounce like Cyclonic Rift and Evacuation to address decks that are trying to empty their hand in anticipation of ...

Venture Bros is one of my favorite sci-fi settings because it portrays exceptionally flawed people dealing with the infinite possibilities of technology and even magic.
