Re: Mayael the Anima - Of Gods and Monsters

Ooooh, I played Mayael for quite a while when I started out with commander. She is like a Timmy dream . One card I can recommend is Lurking Predators . Flipping cards is a lot of fun imo and you have about a 1/3 chance to hit per spell cast. If every opponent plays 1-2 cards per turn, you will...

Re: Avacyn, Angel of Hope - Mono-White 'Control'

Hey darrenhabib, thank you for dropping by! Always appreciate comments from fellow white mages . Even though you have Avacyn, Angel of Hope as Commander, I think you are running too many creature board wipes and you'll find a lot of games that you want to be more proactive. The problem is that...

Re: Yeva, Nature's Herald - Mono-Green Flash

A really nice tutor and removal spell all in one card came out in MKM, so I had to put it in. Traded one today . The Changes: REMOVED :fuming: Protean Hulk : I can't really abuse the Protean hulk. It's okay in case of a boardwipe and I can sac it to Greater Good . That's about it. ADDED :) Arc...

Re: How frequently do you crack packs?

I visited a new LGS last weekend and on a whim, bought their last collector booster of Neon Dynasty. I generally dislike collector boosters but Neon Dynasty might be my favorite set. Maybe I'll open it when I'm having a bad day. Damn, how can you restrain yourself like that . When I have a pa...

Re: Avacyn, Angel of Hope - Mono-White 'Control'

Sorry to be a negative nancy, but the play style does not look appealing to me. Don't worry, I get that this is not everyone's cup of tea ;). Thank you for making some interesting points about the deck and the gameplan. The decks that I currently own tend to be light on boardwipes as they have diff...

Re: How frequently do you crack packs?

I basically never buy packs - except for the packs I get when I play Sealed. Years ago I sometimes bought a fat pack if I really liked the set, but I quickly realised that getting singles is just more efficient. When I win some packs from constructed play I will open them though.

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread

So, in my playgroup we have 3 Tolsimir players, including a friend's wife. who barely plays. She opened one Voja, Jaws of the Conclave liked it and put a bunch of elves and a couple of wolfs. The deck is definitely not optimized and she isn't very experienced, but its just silly. The worst part is ...

Re: Avacyn, Angel of Hope - Mono-White 'Control'

Since you are already running Weathered Wayfarer , I'm a big fan of including the following to go along with it: Flagstones of Trokair Lotus Field Thespian's Stage I'm pretty hooked on running this little set of 4 cards in most of my white decks. It tends to work out ramping pretty effectively and ...

Re: Avacyn, Angel of Hope - Mono-White 'Control'

I have been toying with the idea of something similar, mostly because I really liked Akroma, Angel of Wrath when I was young and I like "No Rest, No mercy, No Matter what" flavour test. and testing a bit Magus of the Moat (or moat itself if you have it) will be all stars Ooooh, Magus is n...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread

have you guys played against Voja, Jaws of the Conclave holy %$#% it is powerfull Did you face an elfball build? She seems pretty strong as she grows your elves pretty quickly, but I do not really see a reason to play her over Marwyn or Ezuri (mono-green can just tutor Craterhoof or activate Ezuri ...

Re: Sythis, Harvest's Hand - Classic Enchantress

New toy from Doctor Who! The curse of Fenric might be useful for troublesome creatures. The other two chapters could be conuterproductive, but I think the first is worth it. Interesting card for sure, but it is worse than Grasp of Fate for me as it only hits creatures. Opponents can also use the to...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

FNV > FO2 > FO > FO4 > FO3 Objective tier list. I actually really love the Fallout series, so I'm interested in what's going to happen, but also, ugh. I love Fallout too - and am a bjg Brotherhood of Steel enjoyer. But in Magic? I guess this is about as weird as Warhammer 40K in Magic. FNV > FO2 > ...

Re: Alternative Wincons to Craterhoof

PrimevalCommander already provided some really good options. I would like to put Thunderfoot Baloth out there as well. You could also run Kamahl, Fist of Krosa if your deck can make a load of mana. I run him in my Yeva, Nature's Herald deck and for some reason people find him less annoying even thou...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread

On an unrelated note. As of a few minutes ago I'm in the top 1000 players on America's server in Marvel Snap. It's pretty satisfying especially since I basically never jam meta decks. Nice, always fun to do well with rogue decks! Top 1000 is usually my goal in Hearthstone too. I should be playing A...

Re: Most brain-dead commanders in existence

Pile of enchantments Sythis, Harvest's Hand pillowfort? I have loaned my Sythis deck to novice players - it's generally not a great match . If an enchantress decks gets its engine going the pilot has to resolve quite a few triggers, which can be overwhelming for newer/slower players. Also, th...

Re: Queen Marchesa - Bow To Your Queen

One thing to look for is if the monarch cards are pulling their weight: you already have continuous access to a card that makes you the monarch... your commander. If those cards work for you, fine. Otherwise you could look for cards that keep your opponents from damaging you (pillows like fogs or D...

Re: Most brain-dead commanders in existence

Heh, I know a few players like this too. After a few games I usually lend them my Mayael the Anima deck. It's the dream of every Timmy. The deck is basically ramp, some fatties + support and a little bit of interaction. Mayael isn't great anymore as a commander in general, but I think she'll be able...

Re: Queen Marchesa - Bow To Your Queen

Played the deck for the first time today and wow... it was a lot of fun  ! I can see why Marchesa is a popular commander. My opponents liked the deck as well, so good times overall. This is going to be one of my keepers for sure. I was able to get in four games in total and won two of them. Th...
