Re: Splinter Twin vs. Modern gauntlet testing discussion

By the way, in case assistance is needed for the play test, I may find a spot too. What I can cover, as I played with profit in the recent past: - Grixis/Esper Shadow - Any Delver strategy - Mardu Pyromancer - Any Uxx Control - Saheeli in all of its forms (Snow, Jeskai, Midrange) If you'll ever need...

Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control

[mention]TheAnnihilator[/mention] Honestly, I don't see how keeping Force in against Hardened Scales can be counted as "a necessary evil". It hits so many targets that it's never dead against their draws. Animation Module , Throne of Geth , Evolutionary Leap (yep, that's it, many thanks), ...

Re: Splinter Twin vs. Modern gauntlet testing discussion

But what's everyone's opinion on where SFM should be in a Jeskai build? Should the Twin and SFM package both be main, or should SFM be a sideboard plan for when the combo is bad? I understand your point of wanting to show off what TwinBlade could do. Seriously. IMHO, Stoneblade is just bad in this ...

Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control

Forgot to add. Another possibility Scour opens for is to play some number of Tasigurs. It isn't the worse at providing both CA and a power beater. I can see the possibility to go for 4 Snaps - 2 Tas - 2 Gearhulk, cutting one Drown or one Force. It does help against Burn and aggressive strategies by ...

Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control

I don't know about Thought Scour. I did have great results playing with Opt, and I was just theorycrafting about it, didn't try to swap the card. Probably I would keep the Drown at three if I were to play Opt. But I really wanna try the Scours, they feel so much better with it in the deck. I do beli...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 07/08/2019)

Urza is maybe the best deck in the metagame.

But one has to be the best deck.

It's not oppressive in the slightest, c'mon guys.

Now: does Corridor Monitor belong to the deck? I admit I didn't know of this card!
It doesn't speed up the combo (Twin on turn 4 regardless), so the flash + tap abilities are much more relevant.

Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control

Yeah, I mean, the sideboard is totally meta dependent. I do think that the mainboard (if you want to play this kind of deck, that's it) is set in stone with the exception of few slots (third Path or fouth Push, three or four Drown, Fortress or more islands-type for Sanctuary). In the sb I'm only sur...

Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control

Welp, the list play *very* differently from the norm. 1) It litterarly NEVER tap out during your own turn. Zero sorcery speed cards is huge, against any opponent. It's like playing a discard based deck. You don't see the opponent's hand, but have informations about his turn before acting. 2) If you ...

Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control

I know people here don't particularly like this approach. But I keep crushing with variations of this list, so... yeah. Lands (24) 4x Polluted Delta 4x Flooded Strand 1x Swamp 1x Plains 3x Island 1x Mystic Sanctuary 4x Creeping Tar-Pit 2x Glacial Fortress 2x Hallowed Fountain 2x Watery Grave Creatur...

Re: Splinter Twin vs. Modern gauntlet testing discussion

It doesn't even NEED adjustments. I mean, with the printing of Push, T3feri and lots of other maindeck cards which are played in the meta game that interact with the combo it just looks silly.

Re: Splinter Twin vs. Modern gauntlet testing discussion

I don't know about that.

Stoneforge package is very medium against BGx, the combo is already strong against aggressive strategies. We may need grindy cards and cheap removals in the sideboard, imho. Especially the second list, is already geared toward a grindy environment.

Re: [Deck] Blue Moon / Izzet Breach

BloodyRabbit Nice Results, man! And fine list, too. Is there a reason for not playing Blood Moon , especially with meta decks like Tron around? Have you considered The Royal Scions , yet? It doesn't play Blood Moon for the same reasons this list never played Moon. It wants to deploy creatures and o...

Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control

I mean, I'm not STATING that the card is powerful and that should be run 100%. What I'm skeptical about is your reasoning. Like, just to make an example, evaluating that a card is "bad" against Grixis Shadow because "it often doesn't hit Delve cards" when it basically counters ev...

Re: [Poll] Is your wallet fatigued in this format?

To play Grixis Shadow you don't need the full set of Tarns, btw. You can run:

4x Bloodstained Mire
4x Polluted Delta
1x Scalding Tarn

Just saying. The first two lands are the most important in GDS.

Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control

I really think you're sleeping on this card. Or maybe the card is just not that good? People tend to provide arguments to decide if a card is worth it or otherwise. I had the same exact experience as Annihilator in testing and tournaments. Playing some games and deciding out of nowhere that "t...

Re: Splinter Twin vs. Modern gauntlet testing discussion

Giver of Runes does nothing against red cards, btw. It is appealing in something green based featuring the combo, in a Ux shell certainly less. According to my experience, Grixis is better suited at playing the Control role. Jeskai is good at being the aggressor, running more Bolts, Path for fatties...

I played Jeskai for a long, long time, in all of its interactions (Wall of Omens builds and simply UR + Path). Won a dozen small tournaments in two-three years.

If it is needed, I can put up something.

Re: Splinter Twin vs. Modern gauntlet testing discussion

By the way, about sideboard. Given that I like less than half of the presented sideboard, I would do: +2 Abrade +1 Dispel +1 Spellskite +2 Force of Negation -4 Remand -1 Serum Vision -1 Magmatic Sinkhole Remand are simply awful. Cryptics are overcosted, but they are counterspells that don't get hit ...

Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control

I do like the discard heavy builds at the moment, in conjunction with T3feri (would play the third copy). Kaya's Guile isn't a maindeck card, IMHO. Not even in the slightest. Drown in the Loch is simply hot. Just test it, and you'll see by yourself. Search for Azcanta is a strange card, but I also w...

Re: Splinter Twin vs. Modern gauntlet testing discussion

I do agree that the plan A in Twin is kinda weak, nowadays, But we're looking to test the most classical list we can. If Twin would get unbanned, I would personally start with Jeskai variants (on which I was focusing in the last months before the ban, before Bianchi's win). More than that, I would a...

Re: [Primer] Esper Draw-Go Control

Honestly, I just think that: a) Despite being a huge Draw-Go fan. T3feri is a reasonable card with a reasonable flavor text (some people disagree, that's fine, everyone has its own take on the game). b) The lists aforementioned are worse against T3feri, and there isn't much to say about it. If you (...
