I think the two life per turn is pretty small potatoes if you're not using it to get more triggers like I was, so I've never really understood why he's thought of as a pillow fort commander. Magus of the blue seems a lot worse than magus of the Moon, at least in traditional uses. If you have to play spellslinger (hint: you never have to play spellslinger) then this is actually a pretty cool finisher.

It's probably even better in control decks, but I try really hard not to have any cards in my control decks that only serve as a wincon.

Casting random spells off your opponents library is so low impact. Like, I'm at the point where I think actual looting is about as strong.
