Re: Tips&Tricks: Gisela Prisonfort
Commander 2019 Review: Gerrard, Weatherlight Hero : I'm slightly interested to build around him as a standalone commander, but he is neither good enough to be at the helm or in the 99. There are better cards with similar effects (that I'm going to tryout when I manage to pick them), but getting back...

Re: Tips&Tricks: Gisela Prisonfort
Fury Storm i also tried out, but it wasn't that great it either. I might re-add them for another spin eventually just because I like the cards, but right now they're not making the cut to 99. I feel like Fury Storm was never going to be a good card in a deck with a 7-mana Commander. Realistically, ...

Re: Tips&Tricks: Gisela Prisonfort
I have a deep fondness for Ricochet Trap and Wild Ricochet . I think they're in line with what you want to do, and they are surprisingly good stack manipulation for beating Counterspells, and someone tapping out for a Time Stretch will very much regret it unless they have counterspell backup. Thank...

Re: Tips&Tricks: Gisela Prisonfort
As you can see, my specialization is not quite in defensive strategies, so I don't know the subtle intricacies of it like I do for hyper aggressive approaches. Some cards that most individuals include might have disadvantages to those who are experts. Haha no worries, I'm happy for any responses I ...

Re: Tips&Tricks: Gisela Prisonfort
I'm curious as to what other win conditions you possess? Acidic Soil , Electrodominance , Gisela beats, Incite Rebellion , Deflecting Palm & mill are all things that have won games for me. I used to run more cards a la Searing Rays , but I'm not to keen on running too many dead-outside-of-situa...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Concentrate
Because green doesn't have as many all-around stronger options, I'd presume. A lot of the better card draw spells in green want some kind of synergy with your deck ( Greater Good , Beast Whisperer , Soul of the Harvest etc)) & Harmonize is perfectly fine in a deck lacking those. Blue cards like ...

Re: Random Deck of the Week Thread
Yeah, the budget of those cards make it more than fair enough not running them. I'd run Buried Alive as an effective refill in response to graveyard hate (Stinkweed+2 should do the trick) but if you don't run into yard hate that often, it's not as good. Force of Negation is great, of course. It's ju...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Uvenwald Hydra
I've ran it in the past, and I'm not a big fan, it's just kind of never been up to par. It'd need a more relevant keyword than reach or have some kind of other trigger (like getting a land on attacks) for me to really like it. Now it's a bit meh. In decks that want big beaters and specific lands, it...

Re: Epic & Hilarious Plays Thread
A few years ago my LGS was a bit of a wild west where commander pods could occasionally have jank rare decks up against cEDH decks. I owned only two decks at the time anyways, a boros pillowfort deck and a Jeleva storm cEDH deck... now, it wasn't a big deal when me and my friend wanted to play a gam...

Re: Random Deck of the Week Thread
This looks rather sweet. I've never played, either with or against the commander, so I can't say anything about how things are practice, but it certainly looks quite nice both to play with and against. In a way it's the exact type of deck I'd love to borrow once in a blue moon, but wouldn't like to ...

I agree, let's start, and then if no one else chucks in a deck you can just ask for seconds.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Hurkyl's Recall
Great but narrow card. I run it in storm where it pulls the double duty of helping me storm off as well as being another interaction card. In most decks though I'd much rather run destruction of some sort or mass bounce of some sort.

Re: Maelstrom Wanderer--High Power
Disclaimer: I don't play cEDH (can't afford it) or 75%, I play somewhere in-between. I watch cEDH & have played some 75% magic, but I can't really tell what's good in either format, I only know what works for me in my ~85% meta. Ah, then it makes more sense where you're coming from. If that's wh...

Re: Maelstrom Wanderer--High Power
I'm a bit unsure what you're trying to do, especially as 75% is a very vague term, and according to Sheldon, it's a place where you don't get to Sorin Markov someone on turn 5. I'm not sure if Temur Food Chain is appropriate there. I also don't think build competitively, play casually is the right w...

Re: Ideas for an explosive commander and deck?
You can build MW less MW-centric, if you want, and just treat it as a value engine. As long as the cards you'll cascade into aren't dead when cascading into you should be fine. Mystic Confluence is okay to cascade into and interactive. . [card]Blasphemous Act can't be cascaded into. Plasm Capture i...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
Aeon Engine seems like a horribly unfun card. It's like all the unfun parts of extra turn cards minus the good. Waiting 7 turns instead of 3 to play is exactly what I don't want to do in casual EDH, which is probably the only place where it will be played. It'll be at most 5 turns, not 7 (barring m...

Re: When it it Okay to Unleash the Hounds?
Generally, turn 4 is when I'd expect people to start threatening wins, trying to run away with the game, or being set up to dictate the flow of the game or at least make sure it doesn't end. That doesn't mean that's when games actually end, just that if your deck can't expect to at least stop other ...

Re: Ideas for an explosive commander and deck?
Maelstrom Wanderer can quite easily be built like that, it can overwhelm opponents, be resilient to attempts to control it and is a good fit for both ramp and card draw. It's not that great at being interactive though, but you can always build it a bit more interactive than the norm with modal card...

Re: What Makes Bad Games?
The worst games is when people have to leave and then grief the game beforehand and the other players are okay with it. I never understood why this is a thing that happens. Another thing is when people aren't playing to win. That just completely takes me out of the game. Build as casually as you wan...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
Arcane Signet is a great card and I'll run it in many, many decks going forward but I'm not really a fan of the design. I appreciate WotC making good mana fixing more accessible (depending on how budget friendly this actually is). I'm not a big fan of having more cards that are almost always best i...
