You can gain 5 life for 3 mana!
The 5/5 trample haste for 6 or that part of drawing cards and reanimator on legs? Not important.

And if you play burn, you could chain spells at a furious rate. Good thing she costs 5 to make her unplayable in modern. That Worthy Knight though... I believe humans already plays a few knight? Seriously, gaining 3 and a card looks good.

So many adventures feel like they should be instant. I guess the food combos would be too good with instant-speed food creation.

Would you play stinkweed imp, supreme verdict or expedition map in your human modern deck?
That's why this card is not that good in humans.

The GY recursion is worse than it looks. It will often be tempting to sac islands and swamp, which will make recasting it harder. You need 8 mana to recur and recast in a single turn... which makes the flash ability a bit weird. Flash is great for the first time being cast. Eat an attacker, untap, a...

once upon a time falls into the annoying category of cards that are bad until they are busted. At it's nominal cost, it's a worse ancient stirring , so a typical green spell of its kind. But for its special free price, it would only see play if it enables something broken, like making neoform more ...

Against control holding an empty board, this is pretty sweet. OTOH, if it backfires on you, you merely loot and get a 2/2.

Wow, the "tap it" part seems very gratuitous. You can attack and eat food after declaring attackers. You can block and eat food afterward. It's only relevant if your opponent tries to kill it with direct damage before you attack or block. I really wonder why it was over-powered without tha...

Seems like a steep price on both halves. 8 mana for 4 power on three bodies. (Well, 7 power when blocking I guess...) Could not the elf have vigilance at the least?

I find it awkward the way they repeat creature in the rule text. I guess to be 100% they couldn't just just "creature of the type of your choice", with the fact that the type has to be a creature type implied by the fact that creatures are being affected. Otherwise, I'd rather that they sp...

Once upon a time seems crazy in modern tron deck. Sure, the 2nd one isn't free, but fixing your tron on your 0th turn (on the draw) seems busted. sylvan scrying is still probably better since you're guaranteed to get the land you need, but this looks so good.

For instance, it can be tempting to view Order of Midnight as "mediocre" because in modern Magic a 2/2 Flying that can't block is "just okay" and a two mana Raise Dead is unbelievably awful. I didn't see anyone calling mediocre. It's actully a gravedigger that flies and can be c...

Here's a comparison of the two cards in every possible case: I think your analysis is misleading for the following reasons: Most of the time, you're looking for one card, not two. At the very least, you usually need one card now and the other can wait at least a turn. Modern is a fast format where ...
