Re: How many layers of sleeves do you use?

One of these days I'm gonna put a whole butt deck inside of those top loaders that TCGPlayer sometimes sends me 💀. Just for the looks. Maybe do a pauper deck inside for extra eye rolls. ...what's a "butt deck"? I'm pretty sure she meant "a whole-ass" deck, as in "entire&quo...

Re: THE Definitive Kaalia of the Vast

I'm not a Kaalia guy, probably won't ever be one. I just pop by occasionally to see what 3drinks is cooking. But man, I don't think I've ever told you how envious I am that you found your general and stuck with her for so long. I rarely keep a deck for more than a year, I'm always chasing a truer re...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Ledger Shredder

I've resolved this a few times now and I like it, but I'd check your expectations or ymmv. It doesn't grow nearly as fast as in 60 card constructed formats. If you resolve it t2, you might get 2-3 triggers by t4 in a "normal" meta. In a fast meta, it's a little better but if the body isn't...

Re: Control Commanders in 2024

I actually wonder if doing something different and just having your commander try to win the game for you and then everything else is interaction/draw might be a fun way to build. This is basically Dirk's Phelddagrif strategy and it extrapolates pretty well in my experience. Slap together 45 lands ...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Mogg Infestation

This card is sweet. You can wrath a board of heavy hitters at the cost of a Dragon Fodder apiece or you can double your own board of critters with twice as many goons.

Re: How many layers of sleeves do you use?

Zero sleeves. Not in the 90s when I started, and not now (granted IRL games are virtually non-existent for em, but no sleeved when I do get a game). They screw up the riffle shuffle with bridge too much. Once in my youth I came across two players playing a Legacy match without sleeves, no playmats,...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - The Cyber-Controller

I played it for a bit in Davros, Dalek Creator. It's a nice option as a lord that can %$#% out its own army in a topdeck war. And yeah, as Pokken said, it kills the table with infinite mana so that's cool for the hardcore dimir players who want an Oona, Queen of the Fae analog with fewer steps.

Re: THE Definitive Kaalia of the Vast

Could even get Zur in there and.....I'm sure there's some kind of animate dead adjacent effect I can find for redundancy. Zur can get the new The Creation of Avacyn for another angle to cheat a fatty or maybe Solitary Confinement to buy time. Edit: you may also be able to set up some classic GY abu...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

I'm unsure how lore wise Sorin creating Avacyn is a black saga. Was it not to keep order and peace in Innistrad, to fend of the darkness? Seems like white aligned Just to play Devil's Advocate for the flavor: We know Sorin is a black-aligned Planeswalker at his core. He has white leanings but at th...

Re: SCD: Primeval Titan

I think the worst possible outcome is the return of GBx dominancein mid-lower metas. Back in the day, the best primetime play used to be to get Coffers and Urborg for an instant and near insurmountable mana advantage. Not sure if it's worse than Dockside abuse but I think we'd all agree Dockside abu...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread

See Dirk, if you never learn how to actually play the game well. Then you don't have to deal with trying to find a deck weak enough to not win against your play group like you and I. Sometimes I envy them. In theory the problem can be solved with sufficient narcotics Anytime I start winning too muc...

Re: [MH3] The Necrobloom - Field of the Loam

I hesitate to question your methods, but is cutting Scapeshift really the right answer? It's 4 mana army with fields or the commander and imho you'll get a lot more action out of it than BoP. Early you can sit on it or use it to mass crop rotate and late it's total bananas.

Re: [MH3] The Necrobloom - Field of the Loam

Phyrexian Altar would probably be insane here with the amount of tokens multiple fields will make. EDIT: Vesuva is another field and Mox Diamond might be nice too to occasionally fast-track the dredging. Oh, and how about Manabond ? It's a little tricky but it could play well with multiple cyclers ...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Argothian Enchantress

The card is super solid but the shroud can be annoying. When I was playing Sythis Aura Aggro, this was one of the worst creatures to get early because it can't suit up to punch face. In a more traditional enchantress deck this is best-in-class though.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Tymaret, the Murder King

The main thing holding this guy back is his inability to shoot at anything but the dome. If he could be a nigh-unkillable source of crearute removal, then he'd have a lot more utility

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

Honestly i'm really liking the jund theme being the jund shard. I have alway loved it, both tematically and mechanically. Too bad jund commander are kinda bad or boring and doesn't reflect the shard. Even the new ones we are getting in this deck are incredibly boring and don't really fit the jund t...

@pokken I'd write this clown off. They're suffering from a particularly vile lack of self-awareness. My diagnosis: it's terminal.
