Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
Like, without Sisay at the helm, you probably aren't going to play all the ways to untap and spam her in a shrine theme deck, so you're going to end up making major deck changes anyway. The question becomes do you prefer a different general or prefer playing Sisay without things like Derevi and Med...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
At first, I was thrillled to see Go-Shintai of Life's Origin , but I've realised it enables a OHKO in my Sisay Shrines deck that only requires Sisay , non-summoning sick Jegantha and one white mana, with some extra cards available in the deck for Sisay to search up. Tap Jeg > Find Derevi with Sisay ...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Sisay, Weatherlight Captain
Yeah, Sisay can be quite obnoxious. She has so much inevitability that you do have to stop her every time she's played or she'll run away with the game; a prime reason for including Cursed Totem or Stranglehold effects in your decks. Perhaps if she'd needed to tap as part of her activated ability, o...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
A new Shrine confirmed on the day Sisay, Weatherlight Captain is the RCotD...coincidence? I think not! I'm not sure why it's a creature but I do like that they've chosen another distinct turn step for the trigger, to distinguish the Go-Shintai from the Honden and Sanctums. The white Go-Shintai is s...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread
Wonder if it's possible to use Eternal Dominion as a wincon. You need to resolve multiple copies of it to be able to do so, which requires copy effects so you can get them all onto the stack before any of them resolve. Activated abilities (e.g. Twinning Staff ) can be used on later turns to get add...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Neoform
A one-off pod effect needs to pull its weight to make the cut. In a wide swath of EDH, Eldritch Evolution can get there on its versatility and being able to jump the CMC by 2, but Neoform gets harder to justify. It has use in cEDH - turning a dork into a hatebear for only 2 MV is very powerful - but...

Re: What is your most unique deck?
For me, it's my Sliver Queen deck . A mix of chaos, group hug, sliver synergies, "lose the game" effects and individual cards that can drastically alter the game in a moment ( Hypergenesis , Fractured Identity , Mirrorweave , Radiant Performer ), the deck aims to make the game happen in a ...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Temporal Mastery
I'm generally not a fan of extra turn spells, or their associated price tags, but Temporal Mastery is one of two such spells - the other being Temporal Trespass - that I run in a singular deck, being Vial Smasher the Fierce and Sakashima of a Thousand Faces . Being able to cast a large CMC spell for...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Ad Nauseam
I don't think this card is banworthy. It's actively bad in battlecruiser and lower powerlevels. Once it starts being good people should be aware of how busted it is. I have less of a problem with busted cards that take significant effort to be fully busted. If someone is ruining games with this the...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
I think it will work as a top-end threat among other top-end threats in a general UB control deck, where it potentially pulls removal away from other bombs. This is my thought on Toxrill as well. I like that it won't lead to all-or-nothing decks that are solely dependent on their commander to funct...

ISoG casts the card, so it won't let you get around Rule of Law|MRD effects.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Praetor's Counsel
I love this in my Grothama deck. Admittedly, the deck makes stupid amounts of mana and draws stupid amounts of cards, so there'll often be heaps to recur and the mana to recast all the relevant pieces. A favourite alongside Myojin of Life's Web for that sweet 17 mana, you-only Rise of the Dark Realm...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
These cards are eyesores. I didn't care one way or another about Stranger Things previously; now I have the desire to actively avoid it. It's like ads on YouTube or whatever: By and large I don't are what the actual products are, but the moment it starts messing with things (especially something I c...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Doomsday
I think my favorite Doomsday deck was a Hive Mind deck in which he went dooms day into Fact or Fiction and just passed. I was tempted to put Doomsday into my own Hive Mind deck but opted against it because it would take absolutely forever to resolve. I've done the whole Hive Mind into insta-win thi...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Grand Abolisher
Grand Abolisher 's price tag almost exclusively comes from its status as a cEDH staple, due to its ability to shut off practically all interaction from opponents during a combo turn. It's not even a hatebear, since it doesn't stop opponents from progressing their own gameplans, regardless of how bu...

Re: Kethis, the Hidden Hand - Historic & Taxes
In previous posts, you've already touched on the premier hatebear finisher in Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite . While she may cost a bit, she is worth the price tag. You've also touched on the green Kamahls , both of which can provide the reach to a board of bears. Depending on how games typically run fo...

Re: Thought Exercise: Changing the Commander Tax
Regarding enabling the play of removing a commander on upkeep, so it can't be cast in that turn, or the idea that a commander is only castable from the command zone once, I would be adamantly against both because of the damage to voltron strategies. Removing a commander on upkeep would, outside of h...

Re: [Looking for suggestions] Ishai and Esior: Caw Blade
My Kefnet deck plays in a voltron control style, although it's more akin to Delver aggro-control than to Draw-Go; it's about landing a threat and protecting it while murdering people. Since you're basing the deck on Caw Blade, I'm guessing you're going for more of the latter? Depending on which play...

Re: September Ban List Update
I also find it amusing that somebody had noted that Golos was still a more optimal 5c commander for dragons than Ur-Dragon. Yeah. My mate used to run a Scion of the Ur-Dragon combo deck which, after realising our meta doesn't enjoy linear combos, he changed to Golos. I can't draw a straight up comp...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Exotic Orchard
I love Exotic Orchard in my 3+ colour decks. An untapped land that usually provides 3+ colours of mana? Yes please! I'm yet to encounter the situation where I've been unable to cast a spell because it's not providing the coloured mana I need. Also fun when an opponent drops their copy too; then you ...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread
Hope you're recovering well Hermes_ ! Yeah, I'm not mad either. Worldfire is a weird flex though, especially when Biorhythm already exists in the format. When they were discussing why Worldfire was unbanned while other expensive, game-dominating effects weren't, interaction was one of the key points...

Re: September Ban List Update
Unexpected, but not unwelcome. While it does hit some genuine decks (such as Dirk's Sorrow's Path ), I've seen it used for a number of decks where perfectly valid commanders already existed (dragons, gods, shrines) and those decks were less interesting to me as a result. On balance, I think it's the...

Re: The collectible game vs the playable game
Proxies are fine. Problematic play isn't. I do think allowing newer players unfettered access to the full suite of Magic's arsenal has drawbacks, but they're far outclassed by the pros to a more egalitarian player field. Pretty much my thoughts on the matter. I have no proxies myself, but I'm the l...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
I like that Moonsilver Key can also find artifacts with mana doubling abilities, such as Extraplanar Lens, Caged Sun and Doubling Cube. Makes it a very useful card for mono-coloured and colourless decks, if they decide to run these effects.
