Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Outlaws' Merriment
Uhm. I'm...not really sure what to say. I usually smack my forehead for not leaving up a counterspell. But that's me playing Dimir, in Standard, on Arena, so probably not the best way to analyse it :P I guess it's in the colours for Jokulhaups and Armageddon , but even then it's very slow. Even if ...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread
In other news, New Zealand has just shut down all non-essential services. Australia did the same today. I'm most bummed about gyms being shut down. Mine was already way quieter and I was enjoying the more relaxed atmosphere. My indefinite working from home also begins Wednesday, so I'll need some o...

Re: What are your favourite mono-white and mono-blue generals?
I quite enjoy Kefnet the Mindful as a Voltron commander. Turns out a flying, indestructible 5/5 for 3 is pretty good at murdering people. Who'd have thought?
There's also Unesh Sphinx Storm. I'll admit I've never seen the deck, but with a name like that it's got to be pretty cool.

Re: If you could make one change in Commander...
I'd unban of Gifts Ungiven , for the selfish reason that I'd love to have a deck that can recreate the feel of Gifts Storm from Modern. Maybe this is already possible, considering Intuition is in the format, but I don't think it would feel the same without the deck's titular card, and it would certa...

Here are my decks if you'd like to give them a run. (Left Sisay out since I'd expect that deck to be sub-100).

Re: Maro's commander changes bracket
I went for giving advantage to the 4th player, although I'd actually be in favour of a solution that provides a scaling benefit for each player after 1st, with maximum benefit for the last player in turn order. I think nothing, nothing, nothing, benefit would too easily create this weird situation w...

Re: Sisay, the Band Captain
As of now, I have avoided non-legendary creatures and tokens, and am torn on Kenrith, the Returned King because he can take non-legendary creatures out of other people's graveyards. No need to be torn! Kenny returns creatures under their owner's control, so while you can get non-legendary creatures...

"Quirks That Define Your EDH Style"
If there's a card that best represents my approach to EDH, it's Archon of Valor's Reach ; my deck-building and gameplay style is characterised best by disruption. That's not to say that my decks are built exclusively to do this - they all have predetermined game plans that they try to pursue - but t...

Re: Brainstorming - Dalakos, Hand-crafted
I like what you're doing here. I've been toying with the idea of incorporating cost reducers into my Kefnet Voltron list, as well as removing the mass bounce element in favour of more equipment, so I'm eager to see how this develops. I think Grand Architect would be a house in this deck. It gives al...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Gadwick, the Wizened
Gadwick is an exceedingly boring Commander option. Someone runs him in my playgroup and the one game I played against him ended after two hours with people conceding out of boredom. Looking at EDHREC, the two most common cards in Gadwick, after Sol Ring and Counterspell , are Laboratory Maniac and J...

Re: Which do you like more?
My pick is Exploration, for the simple fact that it's Turn 1 ramp. I can definitely see uses for the Dryad that Exploration can't achieve, such as with Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle or mana doublers that specify particular lands (e.g. Keeper of Progenitus , Vernal Bloom ), but you need to build aroun...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Telemin Performance
To be honest, I haven't got the slightest clue how the name or art of this card relate to its effect. As far as use goes, I feel like you're either using this as a budget, but very bad version of Bribery (please don't do this; just run something else), or you're attempting to mill a player out by fi...

I've got to say mate, I love your cutaway scenes; they're always gold. FRED: You're a genius, you idiot! That was pretty much my reaction as well, when I first read Nyxbloom Ancient . After I read "permanent" in the first line, my brain automatically inserted "twice", thinking of...

Re: January 2020 Ban List Update - No Changes
Hmm, not entirely unexpected, but still a little surprising. Given the greater engagement the RC's had with the cEDH community and their acknowledgement that Thassa's Oracle warranted discussion, I was leaning towards a Flash ban being the more likely outcome. It's possible that, even if we ignore t...

Re: Theros Beyond Death: What do you desire?
Shadowspear is a clear upgrade over Loxodon Warhammer for Kefnet . It may only put Kefnet's power to 6, but this is the magic number for a 2 turn clock when Fireshrieker|MRD or Inquisitor's Flail are in play, so the power loss is more than mitigated by this and halving the combined cast and equip c...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Worldslayer
I ran it in Kefnet for a short while, but took it out before I ever actually played it because I prefer a heavily aggressive approach, which Worldslayer does not support. A combined 10 mana to play and equip is astronomical (although not unreasonable for a card that effectively reads "You win t...

Gratuitous Violence because I'd happily pay 1 extra to remove the drawback of the Furnace and generally the fact that Violence doesn't affect non-creature damage won't have much of an impact. The only case where I think it would make a significant difference is in Earthquake tribal decks like Fireso...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Phantasmal Image
Clone is in 3224 decks. Phantasmal Image is in 3259 decks. That number really shouldn't even be close. Card is phantastic. Meanwhile, the strictly-better Clones Gigantoplasm and Stunt Double are at 958 and 2712 decks, which also seems wrong. Might say more about how overplayed Clone is though. I'd ...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Bribery
Battlecruiser, durdle and goodstuff; if any of these describe a decent chunk of your meta then you're going to have a lot of fun with Bribery, and probably win a not-insignificant number of games because of it as well. (Getting to Progenitor Mimic the Utvara Hellkite you just pulled out of someone e...

Tooth and Nail. That it's not CMC restricted means you can grab two big fatties to have a bunch of fun with, which will more often lead to the exciting board states I love in Commander. Hulk is much more ordinary outside a combo application. Selvala, Explorer Returned vs. Selvala, Heart of the Wilds

Re: Which do you like more?
Godsend is the more powerful card - in a straight-up contest the exile-on-block ability beats the Kaldra avatar every time - but Sword of Kaldra is the funner of the two due to it being part of the Kaldra trinity, whose assembly is one of the things near the top of my EDH bucket list. Arbor Elf vs. ...

Re: Who wants some swords?
It partially depends on the degree to which you want the Swords to be the focus of the deck. If you want them to the stars, then Double Strike would be my highest priority for choice of commander, since it would allow for more sword triggers. Note that Bruse Tarl, Boorish Herder wouldn't be a good c...

Re: Which do you like more?
Definitely the Blackblade. It's a mana cheaper and it's uncommon for there to be more total lands of a given basic land type (because you're not exiling a non-basic land to the Scythe) than the total number of lands you have. The 'normal' equip option for the Blackblade may appear prohibitive, but i...
