This is an okay card. I have run it in the past but don't think I am currently running it. It is solid in things like dragon/angel/flying tribal decks, as the plants don't stop flyers and having a land that can tap for 3 helps you cast big angels/sphinxes/dragons.

I read the first novel and remember almost nothing about it, or about Garth as a character. Not-very-good generic fantasy with lots of MtG refereces jammed in. I can't recall whether I read the sequel or not. Not exactly a high point in MtG lore.

So, Chef's Kiss is just wonderfully fun. Not being able to pick what it targets makes it less technically good, but I still like it. This is the kind of chaos I can embrace.
