Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - The Khans Block Sieges

I always wanted to Frontier Siege into a Hornet Queen . Just haven't done it yet. I don't think it's bad, but I keep not putting it into enchantress and instead trying out stuff like Into the Wilds or Wilderness Reclamation or From Beyond . In Surrak I have Guardian Project ...the 4cmc green enchan...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

"Zendikar Rising has MDFCs that are also a creature, another land, an instant, or a sorcery," said Rosewater via email. Further card type combinations will be revealed in the next two premier sets, Kaldheim and Strixhaven, which will include modular double-faced cards as well. Source: htt...

Re: Will Partner be the End of EDH / Commander?

I wonder If Paper Magic will ever get to the point where you end up having to run three Commanders instead of two just for a Three Musketeers reference? Well, two partners + a companion is the closest we can get right now. I was sad to learn we can only play one companion though. When they were fir...

Re: trying to understand EDH as a 4-of casual player

If you're going to put lots of activated abilities in your deck. I'd suggest to take a look at Heartstone and Braid of Fire. Likewise, depending on how heavy you go in that theme, there is also Fires of Invention (but it will shut down Garna, the Bloodflame).

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

Witch of the Moors that's gonna be in so many edh decks forever staple in lifegain or aristocrat themed decks The funniest trick is sacing a Gray Merchant of Asphodel after the lifegain you can just bring it back to your hand with the witch I see your Gray Merchant and raise you a Soul Warden . Next up is the set review for M21 and Jumpstart (I will probably do them seperately, depending on how much there is for this deck. I've already seen a card fitting in here.)
Let me guess, the new Liliana, Waker of the Dead ? :P

Re: Viable Judo Commanders

What a coincidence, I've just built a Kykar, Wind's Fury aikido deck and I intend to test it tonight :D I've never played that style before and I tend to go all-in on theme so it might not be very good from the get-go but here's the list if you're interested: https://archidekt.com/decks/434965#[Kyka...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - The Borderposts

I don't like those, I see them as worse signets that can be played for an alternative cost that actually makes them not ramp you anymore. They are only useful for fixing but there's already so many dual lands available that I can't see myself playing this in any EDH, except maybe a heavy-artifact de...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

when you want the card draw, opponents are more likely to just stick to 1 spell a turn and not attack you. Sure, but if everybody else is playing in slow mode and not attacking you, you should be able to easily advance your game plan (against proactive decks at least, reactive decks are another bea...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Silent Gravestone

I like that the exile is part of the effect rather than the cost. I think that's why it costs 4 to crack. Exile is not part of the cost though. Night Soil this is not. Right. Which is why I specifically said it's part of the effect. Somehow, I managed to read that backwards. I might need to get som...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion

Mangara is a trap. I saw him as part of some early M21 leaks, and my reaction was a similar jawdrop to what seems to be currently common. I mean, this has to be good, right? I bust him out for testing in my Daxos deck, and he was... disappointing. Turns out leaving the power to Rule of Law yourself...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Golos, Tireless Pilgrim

I put Golos, Tireless Pilgrim in the same category as cards like Chulane, Teller of Tales : powerful commanders that can support a wide range of strategies. I'm not really a spike player and I love my decks to have distinctive themes (not necessarily original, mind you). I see this as good news: it ...

Sidenote: if there are multiple Mind's Dilations on the table, expect the stack to get complicated. Or for the players without one to just stop casting spells entirely.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Mind's Dilation

I've been playing it since its release in my random Golos, Tireless Pilgrim (which was still helmed by Maelstrom Wanderer at the time). In my experience, it's a good value card that attracts a disproportional amount of hate. It will most often trigger only once per turn, and you will whiff around a ...

Re: Interesting post on r/EDH

My mono-green control deck runs natural balance lol. To their credit the group has no problem with this effect just with things that wipe 'all lands' Yeah, I can understand that. I also tend to dislike those type of effects when they aren't game-winning moves because they just tend to make the game...

Re: Interesting post on r/EDH

I play in two groups. In one, we all have a slightly competitive deck that we will bust out at the same time or in response to something really strong or with unfun play patterns. In the other there are more rule zero things, like no MLD, and as a result the best two decks are giant ramp piles and ...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Nascent Metamorph

I'm currently pondering about Nascent Metamorph for my "random tribal" Golos, Tireless Pilgrim deck but even there, I have a hard time getting excited over it. As Mookie said, the fact that you have to engage in combat before knowing what it will become is a huge deterrent. At best, I can ...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Barrier Breach

Well, as for any cycling card, it's never really a dead card. But it still costs you a deck slot. Is it worth it? I don't know. The effect is certainly interesting, being able to get rid of Gods and the likes. I guess it's mostly a meta call though.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Sidisi, Undead Vizier

Well, it's a tutor that can be reanimated over and over again. You can also sac another creature so it could serve as a one-shot sac outlet as well. And black decks that love to sac & recur don't really care about the body anyway since they usually don't win through combat. So I can totally see ...
