Wow, for forever I thought Meloku was female. But it clearly says "he" in the flavor text.

I loved playing a 1xMeloku in control decks in standard. I used to run him in just about every Ux deck 10 years ago. I haven't seen him in anything for probably 4-5 years though.

I run this in my Karador deck, thinning for three cards is pretty sweet. I did have it in Meren before I added W to remake Karador. I agree it doesn't go in every G deck any more though.

Personally, I wish they would not have the partner with part, and let you run Krav with Vial-Smasher if you want. I get that it would make some more powerful but really doubt they would reach Griselbrand or Rofellos levels of crazy.

Makes me sad that I opened a few companions. I will likely by zero boosters now, as I only wanted a few specific things but it is fun to crack a pack on occasion. The companions went from quirky to terrible pretty quick.

So, it seems like this discussion is somewhat moot. Even if you did get it to a perfect mana ratio a new set will come out, our you will pick up an upgrade etc. and unless it is Nekrataal to Ravenous Chupacabra type of adjustment, you are likely messing with your ratios even if it is a tiny fraction.

So I have definitely been thinking about this topic for a while... Most of my commanders are chosen for other reasons, but they all generate significant value which could be turned into cards I guess. The only one that I don't think really does so is Dakkon Blackblade , he is literally just a beatst...

I tend to keep it close to 38, unless there is a significant reason. I do build in some mana sinks in case I get flooded, but overall I would rather draw an extra land or two versus have nothing to do the whole game 'cause I got stuck at 3 lands.

I have often lost while holding a Hero's Downfall with only 1B open a few too many times. I know a lot of people think cmc doesn't matter in EDH, and I am not saying you have to have an average cmc of 2 or anything, but sometimes running Ravenous Chupacabra vs. Noxious Gearhulk isn't just a budget ...
