Re: Expropriate
It's 9 mana at sorcery speed, so I have no issues playing it or facing it. In my playgroup, people are fine with Cyclonic Rift winning the game for 6 mana at instant speed right before their turn so I will continue to play this. I am a firm believer that Cyclonic Rift should be banned long before Ex...

Re: What happened to Karn?
And isn't Tezzeret still alive with his handy dandy Planar Bridge? Until that thing is stamped out it seems like "plansewalking" will still be possible, though only for a select few.

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
[*] The Mana Rig is weird. What deck is running both lots of multicolored spells and wants colorless mana to spend on artifacts? I guess you're more likely to be using it on activated abilities (like the ones on The Mana Rig itself). I do like the powerstone tokens though, and I hope they show up o...

Re: Your most hated cards
Cyclonic Rift is the winner. While some of those previously mentioned cards are problematic, none of them win the game for you out of nowhere. Cyc Rift should never have been printed. All other cards that have similar effects either affect everyone or are sorcery speed. The combo of one-sidedness a...

Dovescape can be a lot of fun in a deck with Aether Flash and Repercussion . Good times. Force them to get creatures, then make them suffer for having them.

Re: [SLD] April 2022 Super Drop Series
The only issue I have is that Mother of Runes already has 4 different Secret Lair artworks. this will make 5. That seems way more than we need of any card in 2 years of Secret Lair. While I realize that in an artist series the artist can choose their cards with the limitations of no RL cards and 1 b...

Re: Cycles you'd like to see completed
Though I'm too lazy to look it up right now, I'm sure I remember Maro saying that there wouldn't be a River of Tears cycle because it didn't play particularly well because of memory issues.

Re: How many cards would you delete/nerf?
I went with 21-50. But if I could only erase 1 card it would be Cyclonic Rift Worst mistake ever made. If you are playing blue you probably have a counter in hand when you cast it. The ultimate "I win" out of nowhere card.

Re: What is your most unique deck?
My Zurgo Helmsmasher creatureless "boardwipe tribal" would be mine. Depending on what I have recently put in/taken out there at between 25-30 "boardwipes" of various types in the deck. It has various ways to deal mass destruction of creatures/artifacts/enchantments/lands as I see...

15 days now and I still haven't gotten my cards or even a shipping notice. It's never taken so long to get a Secret Lair delivered.

Anyone get their All-Natural, Totally Refreshing Superdrop Yet?
As in the title. Anyone get theirs yet? This isn't the first Secret Lair I've bought, but it is the first superdrop where I've purchased the entire thing. In the past I've gotten shipping confirmation emails quite quickly and the package has been delivered promptly. This time is been 10 days since t...

Breathkeeper Seraph and Brisela
Just a quick question, and I'm sure this will not work like I want it to, but if Breathkeeper Seraph is soulbound with Brisela, Voice of Nightmares on the death trigger will Brisela come back to the battlefield melded, come back as both individual cards or not at all? I'm sure it's the last of the t...

Re: Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
I get a little confused by how horrible and game breaking I hear annihilator to be but how casual groups don't seem to have any issues with LD / stasis effects? The game relies on self regulation to keep a lot of things in check but then I hear of people being scarred by this sort of effect and I g...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread
Some of next year's stuff looks great to me. The standard sets all look interesting as does Commander Collection: Black. D&D themed Commander Legends doesn't excite me, yet I will probably buy it as I have complete sets of everything printed since 2009 except Double Masters. I will probably skip...

Anyone seen The Green Knight ? My girlfriend and I left the theater unsure of how we felt about it beyond the gorgeous visuals. I saw it last week, first time in a theater in 18 months. As you say the cinematography was beautiful and the acting from Dev Patel was excellent. I am also unsure of how ...

Re: [STX] MaRo's Teasers
The new evergreen keyword must finally be the red/blue keyword Maro has said they have been searching for. Could the planeswalker they mention as "them" refer to Ashiok? They have mentioned several times before that Ashiok's gender hasn't been revealed, or if Ashiok's race even has genders...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Constant Mists
As you might guess from mu username, I am a big fan of Constant Mists . I use it to great effect in my Borborygmos Enraged deck where I run more than 50 lands. I can use them for offense with my commander or defense with Constant Mists . Buyback fog effects tend to send opponents attacking in other ...

Re: If you could delete 1 card from MTG what would it be?
Without a doubt it would be Cyclonic Rift . Every other card I can think of that does similar things affects the caster as well and is a sorcery speed spell. This card is just a win out of nowhere effect that every format could do without.

Re: Cards that are surprisingly effective
I find that Gather Specimens is a house when timed well. Watching someone else put a Living Death or an Avenger of Zendikar on the stack and see me play this is priceless. Also fun is Ertai's Meddling to stop an "uncounterable" spell. Your opponent cast an Obliterate and you calmly exile i...

Re: 40 Life in EDH
Good lord I can't even imagine how annoying Purphoros, God of the Forge would be at 30 life. It's already awful. My Purphoros, God of the Forge deck can really deliver now. At 30 life 1 good Firecat Blitz and the game might be over in 30 minutes. It's not worth shuffling a deck for a game to end th...

I wonder what they would mean. Do they mean for tournament play, or would they actually completely change how it works? I guess it hopefully won't come to that. Didn't they do that for phasing when Teferi's Protection got printed? Used to be that equipment and enchantments fell off when a permanent...

Zenith Flare and Deflecting Palm
My opponent has any arbitrary amount of life. He casts Zenith Flare and targets me, where X is an amount larger than his current life total. I respond with Deflecting Palm . No further spells are cast and both spells resolve. I want to ensure that I understand the outcome of this. I would suppose th...

Re: The Marath Search Engine
I've been going back and forth on the application of Maze of Ith here for a double Stonehewer Giant activation during combat. I think that I dropped it for another manarock. Do you run this, and if so how has it performed for you? I do run the Maze, but never even considered using it in the way you...
