Re: R.I.P. Magic: the Gathering (1993-2020)
Hyperbole aside, MtG will outlast COVID-19. Paper sales will take a hit, and many LGSs may fall by the wayside, but MtG will weather this storm, especially through digital sales. Hasbro's desire to milk the cash cow that is MtG is far more likely to be the eventual game's undoing than a low-mortali...

Re: MTG, the Corona-Virus Pandemic, and future events.
I think we might still have a chance to save physical retail, brick-and-mortar, and mom-and-pop stores from going extinct If the U.S. Government acts quickly enough. Congress's first attempt at the Coronavirus Stimulus bill didn't go through so hopefully both Republicans and Democrats will find some...

Re: MTG, the Corona-Virus Pandemic, and future events.
Thanks anyway though. Also it's imperative for the U.S. Government and Congress to suspend evictions, mortgage / rent, and utility bills / payments during the Coronavirus Lockdown in order to prevent potential economic collapse without intervention. Without acknowledging the crisis we all face curre...

I wanted to sell some cards too. Right now, breeding pool has a good price. However, with the virus no one wants to go out. Also my parents are sure to get angry, if I met and traded cards with some stranger. This feels like a zombie plague, you don't know who's bitten by zombie.. err.. I mean you ...

I literally just got my taxes from 2 years ago assessed again and the CRA wants more money out of me for that year on top of what I owed already. You reminded me that I should probably call them again to see if they'll push my arrangement back because of this. I know a lot of people would use their...

When taxes are pushed back til July 15th that's when you know things are really bad to the point where the IRS isn't even trying to collect money from people.

Here's what retailers can do during the Coronavirus Pandemic lockdown: https://icv2.com/articles/columns/view/45479/rolling-for-initiative-what-retailers-can-do-in-time-coronavirus-pandemic Sadly I think it's already too late for these small businesses that are heavily in debt right now. Found an interesting article on ICv2 that relates to the Coronavirus situation:

It's about whether or not If Books and Games should be exempted from Lockdown orders.

Re: MTG, the Corona-Virus Pandemic, and future events.
yeah, I know. But there is a big difference between beaing fearful and panicking. I'm just fearful, not in panic mode. Like being fearful enough not to walk the streets, because the disease is highly contagious. Recently, several "fearless" people were arrested and fined by authorities, b...

Living a life of fear isn't an ideal way of living so it's best to stay calm in these times we're in right now. Sleep on it If you have to while staying at home during your days without work. Spend more time with your family. Keep yourself busy with other things that you've put aside up until recent...

How does it interefere with social gatherings where people can play face to face? This friggin' disease can literally kill people and you are asking that, and you claim you aren't being egotistical`? Wat? There more the disease is spread because people ignore that it is *highly* infections, the mor...

I see, so people with compromised immune systems doesn't matter to you because it interferes with the social gatherings where you get to play with other people face to face? That sounds incredibly egotistical. Of course people with compromised immune systems matter to me. How exactly does that inte...

If I could make one change in Commander it'd be running more official events for the format. If players don't like playing Standard anymore why not give them the option to be rewarded for playing Commander? Would it kill Wizards of the Coast to officially sanction FNM style Commander events especial...

The vast majority of my locals are closing down their play space and cancelling events until March 31st while their retail space remains open in order to stay in business. I don't think I have to explain why play space is vitally important for the LGS since I've already posted two threads on these f...

Re: If you could make one change in Commander...
I want tuck back. I like being able to deal with commanders in a more permanent way, and liked the deck building challenge of having alternative gameplans. The tuck rule has always been the biggest issue with Voltron. It's so easy to base one's entire deck around particular Commander abilities that...

If you loads of mana and want to trample people over, Ursapine might be a good card for you. It's also very political, since it can target your opponents stuff too. I might be able to find a slot for Ursapine though when it comes to 5 drops, Seedborn Muse works wonders. I remember almost having tro...

I think we're going to see more Reserve List Buyouts from people who are willing to let go of their private collections to save themselves and their loved ones from being infected by COVID-19. At the same time this is a great opportunity for those who are wanting to acquire these cards on the cheap....

Now that I think about it, I have been thinking of cutting Lifecrafter's Bestiary for Emerald Medallion in my Nissa, Vastwood Seer deck. The thought of only having to cast Constant Mists for 1 green and then Buyback it to hand seems pretty good. I used to run Drownyard Temple to help get it back fro...

Which products are you referring to? How can WOTC 'pressure' LGSs into selling specific products. Don't consumers dictate what gets sold? The MTG products I'm referring to are the non-Collectors Edition sets of Throne of Eldraine and Theros: Beyond Death where they're not worth as much as their Col...

I'd still like to keep the Voltron theme for this deck when the problem is that it's hard to center the Faerie tokens around a Glorious Anthem theme. I was considering taking Unifying Theory out for Thassa, God of the Sea for the scry and making my Commander unblockable. Also I was thinking instead ...

Re: The Future of Paper Magic by Saffron Olive
I don't understand why you think that WOTC needs to make more money and 'tax' sales of singles. Magic is Hasbro's most profitable brand. LGSs launching fake events - WOTC needs to watch that. This is not a widespread issue. WOTC can't dump LGSs. If they do, paper magic will die out. And here I was ...
