Re: [MCD] Trash or Treasure: New Card Testing and Results
I've been messing with a Narset, Enlightened Exile deck recently and finally had a game where I got Crackling Spellslinger in hand with the appropriate set up to take advantage of it. Getting a Storm Count 10 Fiery Confluence to do 60 to everyone was pretty satisfying. There are a few other cards I'...

Re: Mass Reanimate Dragons
With how many "everyone gets all of their stuff back" mass reanimation effects you are throwing around, it would probably be a good idea to include Leyline of the Void in this deck to mitigate the times when that sort of stuff might backfire. Sacrifice and Burnt Offering might also be pret...

Re: Killian, Ink Duelist - Auras & Instants
Modern Horizons 3 has given quite a few neat new cards and I've made a few adjustments to the list as a result: Added Cards [/u] +1 Abstruse Appropriation - This is basically a straight up upgraded version of Utter End and an easy swap. +1 Fell the Profane // Fell Mire - It's another cheap (due to K...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Three Dreams
Three Dreams is pretty great in my Killian, Ink Duelist deck since it has a high concentration of auras. I don't know how many decks are really running enough auras go take advantage of it, but it's pretty awesome when your deck can support it.

Re: Chromium - Wraths and Draw Go
Something like Duelist's Heritage or Blackblade Reforged would be easy to include and significantly increase the damage output for Chromium. In my own list, which is a little weird. I've found the double strike to be pretty significant (killing in two vs three attacks can be a pretty big deal). List...

Re: Arna Kennerud - sword procreation for recreation [brainstorming]
I know a lot of them aren't particularly stellar, but this commander does have a cool synergy with the Living Weapon/For Mirrodin equipments. Might be a few decent ones to round out the non-Sword equipment package though.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - End-Raze Forerunners
I've never run End-Raze Forerunners , and it's obviously going to be compared to Craterhoof Behemoth , but I think it does have a slight advantage over Craterhoof in some circumstances. Giving Vigilance makes the attack way safer, you don't necessarily have to care about the crack back after a fog o...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Gaddock Teeg
Big fan of GT, but if you're running him do you cut cards like Green Sun's Zenith , Finale of Devastation , and Chord of Calling ? I used to run him in Captain Sisay , but he shut down Urza's Ruinous blast . Those X tutors are pretty great at finding Teeg when you need him (or reviving him in the c...

Re: Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh - Everyone and Everything Burns
A small update after doing nothing with this deck for a while, to include some recent cards: Added Cards [/u]: +1 Powerbalance - I feel like even without any sort of top deck manipulation, this deck has decent odds of getting some random free spells off the top throughout the game. +1 Prisoner's Dil...

Re: Control Commanders in 2024
Just going to throw out a quick suggestion of Kotori, Pilot Prodigy . You get the whole "vehicles + sweepers + other good answers" like Shorikai, Genesis Engine decks would have, but Kotori lets you go more aggressive. I've definitely enjoyed playing my deck and it tends to be solid in mos...

I just single sleeve all of my decks, whether they are full of cheap $0.05 cards, or full of expensive reserved list cards and foils. Seems to have served me fine enough.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Ever After
I'm actually a fan of this card in the right deck. I run this in my Kess, Dissident Mage reanimator deck and it has been responsible for some big moves. Sure, I'm running a lot of the other usual suspects that may be "better" of course. For 6 mana getting two big bombs back out of the grav...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Howling Mine
In general I definitely prefer Temple Bell , and similar "we all draw extra cards right now" effects over the "every turn the current player gets extra stuff" effects. Playing a hug effect like that and getting the benefit last is annoying, with potential for never getting the be...

Re: Kaervek's War Crimes
I'd probably take a look at including Hex Parasite. It is in general fairly useful, but for this deck it's a cheap easily repeatable crime source.

Re: I need a suggestion versus Eldrazi Unbound
I'd just treat it as any other deck that is artifact heavy. Run your usual Vandalblast , Shattering Spree , Reclamation Sage or whatever kind of cards you like depending on your colors available. At it's core, that deck is really heavily reliant upon artifacts, so killing/crippling mana production h...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
I'm certainly looking forward to running Fell the Profane in my Killian, Ink Duelist deck, where it will cost two mana, or if played as a land the life loss will be trivial due to the lifgain he has.

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
Shadow of the Second Sun basically feels like an auto-include for a lot of blue decks. It essentially pays for itself with the extra untap step as long as you play it on Main Phase 1.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Cosima, God of the Voyage
Kotori, Pilot Prodigy deck for a few games Huh. I missed this card. It speaks to me in a way Shorikai doesn't. Kinda wanna brew this - or at least theorycraft it as an exercise. My decklist is in my signature if you would like a starting point/inspiration. Shorikai is probably "better" in...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Cosima, God of the Voyage
I tried Coisima's vehicle side in my Kotori, Pilot Prodigy deck for a few games and it was incredibly lackluster whenever I played it. I quickly replaced it and did not miss it at all. Even in a dedicated vehicles deck, the effect really isn't at all worthwhile in my opinion. I'd much rather use Lan...

Re: SCD: Rhystic Study
Generally i do my best to pay the tax unless waiting a turn would be crippling for my own gameplan. However, if no one is paying the tax, or if multiple players have copies in play, I'll just let people get their cards unless I happen to have nothing else to do with my mana. At that point, no one el...

Re: making multiple monocolor decks
I have quite a few monoblack decks that all feel rather different from each other: Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief - First commander deck I ever made, still together. It's a mix of big mana, voltron, and some other random cards. Yawgmoth, Thran Physician - Infect and a bit of Aristocrats Kiku, Night's F...

I have only built one 5 color deck ( Progenitus ), and I've had reasonable results running all 10 Battlebond style duals, and all 10 shocklands, with a number of normal 5 color staples like The World Tree , City of Brass , etc.,. I have spare fetches and ABU duals but just wanted to do something dif...

Re: [SCD] Koma, Cosmos Serpent
Koma can absolutely Spiral out of control quickly. This isn't a huge problem if your playgroup runs a reasonable amount of interaction and has decent threat assessment. If your playgroup is of those that unfortunately is for some reason interaction adverse, and/or has a significant amount of beginne...
