Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 12/16/2019)

Titan managed to take it out the GP in the end. This deck really has come a long way with field and OUAT printings within the last year. Wonder where it ends up in a changed meta post banning with it losing access to Oko(hopefully). Also does this Yawgmoth deck from SCG have legs? It managed to get ...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 12/16/2019)

Oh Jund making is nice to see. But I think this cements Oko ban plus something from the Urza deck at the bare minimum. At same time I can't see wizards banning more than 3 cards in one go I see Oko, Veil, and if they have any level of insight, Astrolabe. I still think Oko could be ok without Astrol...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 12/16/2019)

Amalgam, you kept talking to me 2 months (or longer) about urza as a fair deck and only strong. You talked even to me how mtgo adapt and this will go on... You talked about shadow which will keep them in check... You talked about bad scg meta without any meaning... You want to say something now abo...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 12/16/2019)

Why on earth is the CFB showing draft instead of Modern? Are they just going to switch to top 8 instead of showing full day 2 stream?
The top 8 for this modern GP probably carries the most weight when it comes to any bans/unbans tomorrow

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 12/16/2019)

@mtgthewary every post you make is nothing but hate directed at the deck and it always just seems ignorant at best. You're just like the people who want to nuke tron out of the format or nuke other archetypes because they have a dislike for them. I perfectly understand the deck and even grinded on i...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 12/16/2019)

I can't believe how you all forget our meta bevore veil. Veil was not the beginning, it is a little part of it. And like I allways said, it doesnt matter if you think banning veil stops urza... If we knew they was busted bevore veil too. This is unlogical thinking it's a solution. It's not possible...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 12/16/2019)

Also of note outside of nerfing urza decks immensenly an astrolobe ban nerfs the snow plan which right now seems to slot into just about anything. Playing snow in your deck has no downside and let's you run astrolobe and ice-fang while running 3 colors and basic lands. An astrolobe ban goes a long w...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 12/16/2019)

And again, it was way to good bevore veil, urza, oko, Astro, emry.... You all still talking about banning only some mix of this cards. This makes zero sense to me. The only way you can stop this deck... Try to stop.... Is banning mox too in a mix Do you have any experience playing the deck? Bans li...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 12/16/2019)

Honestly I know oko is an issue but how would a possible banning look if we banned around other issue cards just to see what happens. How would the meta look if we did the following. Ban Astrolobe, veil, Emery as this alone is a massive nerf to both urza and oko style decks without hitting the key c...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 12/16/2019)

Snowblade has actually been doing quite well between the gp and the scg stream which is a nice sight to see. Really hope this deck has the power to stick around post Oko banning

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 12/16/2019)

This is also a company that released an online game without a friends list then proceeded to take over 1 year to implement it. I can't name one other company that feels as incompetent as wizards does sometimes. How do you make an announcement and then backtrack it within 24 hours because of how bad ...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 12/16/2019)

That's the point, we have no idea what could emerge if we had all these damn troll decks gone. Something healthy the way Pioneer is right now presumably. At this point what do we have to lose? Might as well take an axe to the format now and try to salvage the few remaining years. As I said before, ...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 12/16/2019)

I mean Neoform loses to itself most of the time and is a generally bad deck with or without Force of Negation being played. Unfair decks are allowed to exist and get results and are a part of any non rotating format. People can enjoy different flavors of decks even if you don't like them and modern...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 12/16/2019)

I think one thing people seem to also forget is there is also crowds in the game that enjoy unfair decks that people here consider problematic as they don't interact. It's quite easy to say we should remove 3-4 different decks from modern but please don't forget about the people who actually enjoy ...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 12/16/2019)

I already thought about Astrolabe and I have to agree with Aazadan. If Urza and Oko get banned and Tron receives a significant nerf I already know which deck will rise to the top: 4c Astrolabe+W6 control. W6 alone is enough to bury any opposing midrange deck in CA while also shutting down any x/1 c...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 12/16/2019)

Oh, I want to add on... in favor of banning Astrolabe (which I believe is the correct ban, not Oko or Urza). Astrolabe is now the second most played non land card in Modern at 34.6%/3.9 copies. It was already banned in Pauper which is also a non rotating format, it serves as an absolutely ridiculou...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 12/16/2019)

Cards that have left behind in power level should come back and that's one of the most successful things Wizards has done in the past years. Wild Nacatl, GGT(well not that one), AV, SOTM, JTMS, BBE, SFM, all great unbans, which proved to be just fine. 2020 is the year that Twin and Pod (well, maybe...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 12/16/2019)

I disagree. Where the mayority of pros and community was wrong? Don't remember lot of people saying bbe, Jace or stoneforge are busted and shouldn't be unbanned. It was wotc who did this. But I see a lot of people frightened more about pod or twin, even nowedays people adapted allready for busted c...

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 12/16/2019)

Because different archetypes can exist and are needed in eternal formats, removing one such as tron/ramp completely isn't healthy and makes other archetypes too strong. I can understand wanting to weaken it slightly to let mid range be more prevalent but it needs to exist

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 12/16/2019)

Teferi won't be banned in Pioneer, because it is an aggro based format and Teferi does not cut it vs aggro. It's literally a 1 mana bounce a random creature so many times. And that's for the greater good you know. Magic is a game that's supposed to have creature based aggro strategies. It's a flaw ...

Tweets are nice but we honestly need that and more, unless it's a big push it's very easy to ignore.
Wizards is always slow to react unless it's in their face and impossible to ignore

Re: [Official] State of Modern Thread (B&R 12/16/2019)

Nothing will get done unless there is a big push on social media platforms/reddit etc and it has to be loud. We can moan here till the end of time but it doesn't mean anything will get done. This is a group effort and it makes a difference. Remember when Modern was removed from the pro tour and ever...
