Re: What would be your reaction to this play?
I'm with most of the other respondents. It would be mildly annoying, but this format is all about wheeling and dealing. I can't begrudge a player for negotiating a situation to their advantage. In fact, this seems like a textbook example of the format's politics in action.

Re: Yarok, Panharmonicon, and... artifact lands? Help me out.
Nah, not worth. Honestly if you just plan it out, it's super easy to get Field of the Dead online at the earliest possible stage. It's not like you even have ways to search for Field of the Dead , so 9/10 times by the time you draw it, you'll have your quota. No Scapeshift with all those landfall t...

Yarok, Panharmonicon, and... artifact lands? Help me out.
For reference: Yarok, the Desecrated Panharmonicon Seat of the Synod Vault of Whispers Tree of Tales Ok everyone, I have a Yarok deck that (duh) is built around getting value from ETB triggers on various things. Naturally, Panharmonicon is in the deck. What I'm wondering is this: is it worth it to a...

Re: The ranking of the Hydras..
The only remotely obvious cut for me is Heroes' Bane . After that...maybe Kalonian Hydra ? I'm having a hard time with this, because I'm having tunnel vision, specifically about Rosheen Meanderer . I would hope you're running it since so many good hydras have X in their cost, which makes me want to ...

Re: Secret Lair
An even better example is tarmogoyf, which started looking pretty 2/3 or so in the original art, but now looks like a 10/10 world devourer or something. It's obviously really good in tournament play but c'mon, it's still only a 2 mana creature, save the epic artwork for the 7-drops. /rant. What abo...

Re: I need a Golgari-compliant discard outlet...
I've been using a few copies of Haunted Dead . Key to the City could be usable, too. It would also have a case in making your Soulflayer unblockable once it was down. Haunted Dead is interesting. I may have to test it out. Thanks! Not sure about the Key or what I'd cut for it, but I'm intrigued at ...

This is not a final product. This is an election. Do we like: Tokens (Bitterblossom dream)? or do we like fun alters of playable cards (explosion sound)? Or maybe we want a mix of both (KITTIES OMG)? Or maybe we like shiny basics? Or maybe we dont care and will just buy everything we can for no app...

Wow! I can't remember the last time something so hyped resulted in such a resounding fail. Maybe the Star Wars prequels? Anyway, for such a cool and promising concept, they sure bungled it on the execution. Cats and goblins seem cool, but the price is a massive joke and none of what they're offering...

.... and nothing done in pioneer. As a modern player, I guess I'm glad if they fumble pioneer as it competes with modern as the go-to eternal format. Taking a week or two off from bannings isn't exactly a fumble. Personally, I'm cashing out of Modern. Pioneer's existence alone is another signal tha...

What reprints would you put in Pioneer Horizons?
Before I get into this, I know the format is in its infancy and a hypothetical Pioneer Horizons is years down the line. Since Modern Horizons displayed WotC's willingness to bypass Standard to add cards to a format, I was wondering what cards from Magic's history could/should be reprinted for Pionee...

Re: Alternative card counts - 60, 80
I'm not really a fan of the idea. While I'm sympathetic to the struggle of shuffling a 100-card deck (especially since I've recently began double-sleeving), I can think of no other conceivable benefit. I like the format's variance and relative lack of homogeny. I think lowering deck size would compr...

I sold 4 copys thoughtseize and will sell my other 5. I don't need it at this moment, so I take the high money bevore risking a Reprint. I will buy it back after. But it is a risk too, because if theros doesn't Reprint it... Price will jump again a lot Don't hold your breath. Maro has indicated sev...

Lotleth is the best one, and I run a full set. I'm finding that it's not enough, and could use a fifth or even a sixth.

It seems like a slower format, with most of the best threats being above 3cmc. I could see it if there was a dominant aggro deck, but I haven't seen a definitive one yet.

Re: [Official] Pioneer Prices Discussion
I see Thoughtseize topping at maybe $35. Theros and Iconic Masters put quite a few copies out into the world. It'll slowly creep up without another reprint. It seems like the best T1 play in the format from what I can tell. If I had a lot of money and had to choose one card to invest in, it would pr...

After a few games, I've found that sometimes you'll need to dig for a Soulflayer and/or dump some delve fuel for it into the graveyard. For that, it already runs full sets of Grisly Salvage and the afore...

I need a Golgari-compliant discard outlet...
Hello all. I'm trying to put together my own Soulflayer list. I've taken it to a few events and it's definitely a contender, but I need more discard outlets similar to Lotleth Troll . I don't have any copies of Collective Brutality yet. I was considering Call the Bloodline too. Ideas would be apprec...

Regarding moisture and our collections' susceptibility therein, here's a tip from your friendly Nexus pharmacist: get yourself some desiccants and/or silica gel packs. Put them in boxes, bags, or wherever you store your collection. They're great at absorbing the moisture in the air, and protecting y...

Speaking of exact comparisons we've seen before... Zendikar Rising by a smidge. I like them both but the power of mana doubling can't be overstated. Ninja'd. Dictate. That whole cycle is awesome since they mitigate the downside of giving everyone a boost by letting you get first crack at the bounty...

Re: Gavin Verhey and Command Zone announcement video!
I know people are pumped about Commander Masters at the outset, but let's reign in our expectations a bit. It's still being designed for limited, which means it'll be full of chaff, especially at lower rarities. They'll also use the 'foil in every pack' gimmick to jack up the price, and probably con...

First, don't go down to 34 when you're already describing the manabase as tight. You should probably add lands. But, if you're dead set, I'd go with Gorge and Bloodhall. Sunscorched just doesn't seem like enough to ever do anything meaningful, unless you're blinking it repeatedly or something.
