Re: The MCC Discussion Thread
@bravelion83: since all players in your bracket got 1/2 points in Main Challenge in January Round 2, I am curious: was there a way to earn 2/2? If so, how, what card must have been designed to get higher score? I'll answer that. For me, I hoped to see a permanent Lesson. That's directly against the...

Re: The MCC Discussion Thread
For the MCC to be completely fair and truły competitive, it would have to feature blind submissions via PMs. As-is, if you post early, you give your opponents design ideas anyway. I can say that as a player I always post early not to forget later, and I've never had problems with giving other peopl...

Re: The MCC Discussion Thread
Thanks for the feedback haywire and Raptorchan , I expected this. You're by all means allowed to post at the last minute, however are you really going to design your cards in the last few hours or even minutes? Or are your designs flexible enough to easily add one or two mana to its cost? Or do you ...

Re: Symmetric discard spell
In limited, this would bring the game to top deck mode very quickly. Are you sure? Would you be that eager to play something that is always card disadvantage? See, if you don't discard they don't either. What is the thinking behind having this in white as well? If white can get card draw in the for...

Re: The CCC Mailbag - Edition #3!
The most awkward tricolor group; the blue Wedge (Temur). So very awkward. In my opinion, the two most successful archetypes that embody the wedge in recent memory have been Eldraine Adventures and DnD Chromatic Dragons. What kind of archetype, Limited or otherwise, you'd like to see or suggest for ...

How do you feel about The Desparkening? What do you think are its implications from the design (and narrative) standpoint?

A kind request to all MCC contestants: If you know before the deadline that you won't make any more changes to your submission, please add "FINAL" at the bottom of the post. Alternatively, if you don't want to declare it publicly, PM the host. It's so we can start judging earlier :) EDIT: ...

Symmetric discard spell
I'm looking at {w/b} effects, and this came to mind. If Sky Crier is a thing, why not the following? Eschew Logic {w/b} Sorcery (C) Discard up to three cards. Each opponent discards that many cards. Inspired by Burning Inquiry . Meant for a ramp archetype (trade excess lands for opponent's value car...

From the already proposed words I like "pure" and "primal". Let me throw in "radical" and "native". Everything depends on the flavor.

https://i.imgur.com/85IWlo6.png (This month's banner is my own elaboration on the art of the card Learn from the Past by Chase Stone.) January MCC Round 2 Lessons well learned 2023 is gone for good. Re: The MCC Discussion Thread
Added to the Clarifications section. Also, as agreed with my co-judge, there will be some minor experimental changes to how we judge cards this month. Main Challenge scoring guidelines: 0.0/2: MC not met / letter of the challenge not met / DQ. 0.5/2: Spirit of the challenge not met (should only be t...

Re: The MCC Discussion Thread
Does reminder text count as rules text? For example, if I made a new keyword "Regret" with the reminder text "If you've previously cast a spell with the same name as this one, it costs an additional 2 life to cast." would that satisfy the main challenge? (the ability is not what...

Re: The MCC Discussion Thread
@Ryder just to make sure I'm clear, as I haven't participated in an MCC with the use of terms/wordings without much precedence, we still have to adhere to existing standards, correct? i.e. we couldn't say "during the previous turn" since the existing standard for that is "during the ...
