Re: The Mono White Compendium
I appreciate this resource! I've played Rune-Tail, Kitsune Ascendant , Akroma, Angel of Vengeance , Odric, Master Tactician , and Heliod, God of the Sun . I'm currently eyeing the construction of Bruna, the Fading Light or Lyra Dawnbringer , and look forward to the completion of this resource.

Re: Commander 2019 Speculation
If we're talking wishlists instead of predictions, I would dearly love to see more of the original partner mechanic. I've seen some really interesting decks, and some strategies for which there is no appropriate three-colour general (like Tymna/Sidar Kondo hatebears, or Silas Renn + Ludevic Saboteur...

Re: Card list by Role/Function - What's your approach?
like, what does Sleep actually do? What's its 'role'? Get cut for being terrible? Taken seriously, most likely it's either a finisher for a creature-based beatdown deck, or a really bad overpriced fog in a turbofog deck or something. Maybe it could be a silly political tool to try to get people to ...

Re: Card list by Role/Function - What's your approach?
I sort by card type, with Creature being the prime type (artifact creatures or enchantment creatures are sorted under 'creature'). Partly it's that I have a penchant for modal cards, and the other part is that it's sometimes hard to describe what a card does in terms of the role it plays (like, what...

Re: Is it time to cut signets entirely?
I don't believe so. For starters, it's a useful way of managing Sol Ring or (colourless) Utility Land mana. That's something the Talismans and Arcane Signet can't do. Second, I'm not sure we've reached critical saturation of 2-CMC rocks. If you wanted to run like 8 of them (and some decks definitely...

Re: Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow: Ninja Tempo
Coastal Breach is generally 4 mana in a 4 player game, which is slightly favorable. This is about the lowest I can pay for a mass bounce effect. Maybe I'll give it a try in my own list. Another piece of tech that I forgot about is Turbulent Dreams . In the games I've played, the card glut is real e...

Re: Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow: Ninja Tempo
Your list is very, very similar to my own, including many of the tempo spells with alternative costs (especially Submerge, Snuff Out, and cards with 'Force' in their title). Have you found Coastal Breach to be at all favourable? The mana as the primary limiting factor makes it feel kind of bad. I wa...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Sands of Time
Tuesday, July 23rd, 2019; Sands of Time Let's not kid ourselves, this card is hot garbage. But, part of it appeals to me; I really like cards that persuade or force players to go all out in terms of attacks or spending resources, like Angel's Trumpet , Total War and War's Toll . I wonder if there a...

I hope you realize that you aren't actually disagreeing with anything I have said in the last few posts, you just want to look at it condescendingly for a reason I can not understand. I'm not disagreeing with anything you've written because it's not actually worth discussing. When I say a player ha...

Re: What Makes Bad Games?
All I was saying is that the specific examples you were giving do not necessarily mean what the post was saying, with more context it becomes clearer. Sure. I think it was pretty clear what I meant when I opened with the sentence "When at least one player willfully misrepresents their decks in...

Re: What Makes Bad Games?
In a vacuum playing some Mana Rocks into a wheel isn't actually any indication of the power level of a deck, that is a pretty typical play to refill ones hand after emptying it. Budget and when those cards were acquired by the person are a different story. It isn't impossible for that deck you desc...

Re: What Makes Bad Games?
I'm curious of the list of things that other folks find make games unpleasant. Primarily, when players are looking for different kinds of games. 1. When there's a drastic power mismatch. If one player is trying to play Lounging-in-chairs Tribal, and another player is playing something stronger, lik...

We all know their Flashback creature is going to have to be Dralnu, Lich Lord.

Re: Mana Crypt for every precon?
That is valid, but Mana Crypt tends to be one of those cards that the less streamlined and efficient your deck is the worse of a card it is too. The damage at upkeep adds up and forces you to want to be proactive and close out games where as being on a budget doesn't really play well towards that i...

Re: Miraculous Kaalia (Seeker of Zeniths)
I just purchased the ~60 or so Mardu cards with cycling that are reasonably playable (and expanded the definition of "reasonably" to include some fairly generous gauge of power level I think). Tec reformation is much stronger than most these cards so it goes to reason I included this as w...

Re: Mana Crypt for every precon?
I just thought I would point out that they were relatively affordable recently I'm not sure $50 for a single card is 'relatively affordable' to most players. This is obviously not me; my historic cap has been around $250 for cards I *really* wanted, but it's not impossible I go higher (I have been ...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Astral Slide
"In response, I cycle Barren Moor, triggering Astral Slide, targeting my face down creature. End step, return Exalted Angel to the battlefield face up..." I really want to build a deck that might do something like this, but, I'm really at a loss for inspiration. I feel like Zur might not ...

Re: Radha is a Signet
This is a solid deck for running Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle; it's got plenty of Mountains, and late-game Explosive Vegetations get you some free lightning bolts. I had not thought of this angle, though, I wonder how much land search actually results in me playing mountains (it looks to be just Ex...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Jace, Vryn's Prodigy
This card feels pretty good, but I don't know what everyone is doing with it to make it feel *great*.
I'm the only one plays it in my groups, and I'd like to play it as a commander, but I don't even know where to start.
